Continuing the wrap-up:
Please give the no-show list one last look, and if you do
recognize somebody who was present, you can save them some
nag-o-grams by letting us know before next Monday. Thanks
to all who have reported various sightings.
We're still missing a few headcounts at some functions I
know we had ORG people present. Please, whether or not you
were the organizer of record, help us clear the remaining
question marks from the list. :)
Please keep those reports and summaries coming, gang! :)

High Tea:
Marilyn writes:

Thanks for the report, Marilyn. I've heard others say that
the High Tea went very well this year. Thanks to you and
Danielle and JoAnn for making it happen, and congratulations
on a very successful affair! :)
>This was the best DLV that I've attended. Lots of activities
>to choose from and as always well organized.
As I think back, I'm thinking to myself that it was the best
of all 14 years! Yes, our full and rich schedule made the
week all the more enjoyable, and relatively speaking, once
we got over a few major humps, the running of the show went
very smoothly.
Big thanks to all for making that happen! :)

And Vanessa writes:

I've heard absolutely no bad things about the HT this year.
I'm sure it will be highly rated on the survey. Thanks for
the report.

Beauty Bar:
Mary Beth writes:

>I spoke to the manager during the evening and she was very

>Thanks again to everyone who came over and especially to
>everyone who got onstage to burst their lungs!
And thank you for suggesting it. I thought it worked very
well. I was also impressed by the turnout. This one was
indeed a goodie! :)
I was a bit late, since I stopped to watch some of the
goings-on at FSE and then had to ask directions. (I
somehow got the idea that it was AT the corner of LVB
and Fremont.)
This year I did have to honestly answer "YES" to the "Did
you have difficulty locating our venues?" question, and
the Beauty Bar was not the only one. I had to hunt for
Bare Escentuals in mall, and the Power Exchange was a real
"you can't get there from here" situation! :)

Thrift Shop Tour:

>I was embarrassed and appalled at the low turnout we had,
>and I'm washing my hands of it for evermore.
Please don't be discouraged about a low turnout for such
an activity. This year we had quite a few reports of some
unusually low turnouts for daytime things. I think you had
a well-planned activity. If you look over the headcount
section below, you'll see that several activities had less
of a turnout than yours did.
Let's wait until the survey ratings come in before you
consider this to be any kind of a failure. As long as it
rates 3.0 or better on the enjoyment scale, which almost
all of our activities do, it was enjoyed by the majority
of those who did it, and that's the important thing.
We've had things planned where NOBODY showed up, so in
perspective, you did have a good turnout. :)
Hopefully Sarah's thread on daytime activities will bring
some light to the attendance patterns during the day.
>Next year I have something totally different in mind which
>I will reveal to all when you call for next years activity
>suggestions :).
I shiver with antici ... ... {say it!} PATION! :)
Seriously, new and different ideas are what made DLV what
it is. Feel free to innovate!
>That said, I must tell how much sheer fun I had just being
>a part of it all. So many beautiful people at the main events,
>so many beautiful faces and pretty dresses and outfits, and

>For the present I am immersing myself in local 'Pride'
>activities, and keeping myself busy and getting 'out' as
>much as possible. It's Pride Week here now, and I think I'll
>go to the Pride Festival downtown, if I can scurry up the

I'm very glad you enjoyed it. Again, thanks for your initiative
in planning the Thrift Shop Tour.
>My sincere thanks to you and the Org staff for a memorable

Thanks, Cynthia.
We do appreciate you as a first-timer stepping forward and
volunteering to make things happen. We'll definitely use you
as one of our local resources.

Yes, and I apologize in advance if this is not what you want
to hear.
We had an almost identical proposal some years ago. Several
concerns were raised (links to threads below) and my concerns
are basically the same as they were back then, but with an
added sense of concern for those who may not want their
images used.
When we have the images on the web, if someone wants one
(or more) to be taken down it's easy to do so with a few
keystrokes. A DVD is more of a tangible and less forgiving
medium. Once someone's image is out there, it's out there,
and there's no recalling it or taking it down.
We probably get about 3-5 or so long-after-the-fact take-
down requests each year. Not many, but there are indeed
some years-after second thoughts about having one's image
out there.
Anyway, rather than repeat things, here's the bullet-point
summary of the concerns which were raised about the project
which was previously proposed:
+Questions/issues raised so far are:
+1. What would this do that a similar web-based multimedia
+thing would not?
+2. How would this be distributed? Who would control
+distribution?
+3. Music? Public-domain? Royalty-free? Royalty-paid (who
+pays?)
+4. Photos of persons. Opt-in? Opt-out?
. . . . .
What I might suggest as an alternative is that you either
prepare your own web page with the multimedia content which
you would have included on the DVD and let us link to it,
or work with us to set up a multimedia section in the
follow-up pages for DLV 2010.
The threads of discussion, both among ORG people only and
later including the one who proposed the orignal DLV project
