Scheduling:
We want to have our proposed DLV dates ready to present to the general
DLV audience by August 1, which is one month away.
Let's examine what Tina referred to as the two models, plugging in
example activities in each, to see how each model might appear as a
workable DLV ...
These are just examples, not even suggestions at this point.
Model 1:
Tuesday:
Aft: Dinner somewhere (buffet?)
Eve: Pre-DLV get-together
Wednesday:
Morn: Skydiving
Aft: Vegas G open house
Eve: Club Girl Talk (dinner also?)
Later: Ra OR casino nite
Thursday:
Morn/aft: Mall Crawl (Primm)
Eve: Show (SOM or artsy)
Friday:
Morn: Golf
Aft: Art museum
Eve: Annual Mixer
Later: Dancing
Saturday:
Aft: Something touristy
Eve: Show (artsy or SOM)
Later: something social (perhaps retro party)
Sunday:
Morn/aft: Side trip (Ale-Inn?)
Eve: Farewell get-together
. . . . .
Model 2:
Thursday:
Aft: Din-din (buffet?)
Eve: Pre-DLV gathering
Later: Ra OR Casino Night
Friday:
Morn/aft: Golf OR Mall Crawl (Primm)
Eve: Annual Mixer
Later: Dancing
Saturday:
Aft: Something touristy
Eve: Show (artsy)
Later: something social
Sunday:
Morn/aft: Side trip (Ale-Inn?)
Eve: Buffet dinner
Later: Showgirls Of Magic
Monday:
Morn: Skydiving
Aft: Vegas G Open House
Eve: Din-din and retro party
Tuesday:
Aft: Art museum
Eve: Farewell gathering
Comments on these two examples?
We do need to be prepared to present a proposed set of dates to the
Teeming Millions by the end of July.

Religious services:

I'm assuming Las Vegas has a Metropolitan Community Church, which is
usually 90%+ GLBT in membership. Around here we do have MCC, but the
Unitarians, United Church of Christ, and United Methodists go out of
their way to reach out to the GLBT community.

This has actually come up in 1998, but I don't know of anybody who
actually attended. One person in particular was interested in seeing
which congregations welcomed the GLBT people.
I'll put a general note in the FAQ the next time I update it. As the
time approaches, we can get a list of those congregations who actively
promote to the GLBT community so those who want to attend on Sunday (or
on Friday :) can do so.
I'll also put this on the TG Guide to LV. I have a few copies of _OUT_
so I'll post what's in there and you and the others can update if
needed.

Thanks, Leah. Some more info just came in, but one thing that would be
nice to know is if this is an ongoing thing or just a one-shot deal.

Here's a note that came in Wednesday on one of the newsfroups. This
confirms both who is behind it and the spelling. :) :) :)
I thought she had something going over at the Freezone, but it looks
like she has moved. I would say that if this is ongoing show, it's a
must-do for us. Let's keep an eye on this.

DLV DVD project:
Vicki writes:
>Well I guess I have to let the DVD idea die. There has not been any
>chatter on this in the last few postings. I will not do this with out

I'm gonna speak freely here, and I would encourage anybody else to if
they wish to do so.
I would interpret the silence regarding this proposal to mean it's not
perceived as being too high up on the priority list.
Personally, I don't see a hand-distributed DVD being an effective means
of spreading the word about DLV.
I would suggest that if you have your heart set on doing some kind of a
multimedia thing involving DLV, that you do just that but make it a web
project, where everybody can link to you, and those with the proper
equipment and bandwidth will be able to make use of it. I see something
like this as a far more effective means of getting your efforts viewed
by those who are interested.
And yes, there was some on-line discussion the other night about
resurrecting the DLV webring idea again, perhaps as more of a LV TG
webring. That would get your project, as well as all the others, some
extra exposure.
>Oh well..... on to other things. The prelim list of things to do at
>next years DLV look great! I hope I make it this time!
Please don't be discouraged because this was not met with much
enthusiasm. Hey, I've lost count of how many of my ideas have been
poo-poo'ed by the DLV masses over the years. We appreciate any and
all efforts put forth toward making DLV what it is.
If you would like to do something in the way of promotion for DLV, I see
two things that would be effective. One is a multimedia web site, as I
mentioned above, the other is articles on DLV for web or hardcopy GLBT
publications. We already have one volunteer to do some writing, but more
of these would be welcome.
Our biggest need over the year to come will be people to plan and
implement the various activities that make up DLV. As you said, we do
have some good things proposed, but we need more, both in suggestions
and in volunteers to make them happen. I would like to ask you to please
consider helping us out in that area.
