The next big milestone ...

We're scheduled to begin activity sign-up on Sunday the 26th.

This is a drop-dead cutoff date for all sign-up information for any
activities that need a headcount or a sign-up or some kind of hoop
jump if the attendees wish to participate.

It's fairly easy to add things before this goes out, but very close
to impossible afterwards.

As of that day we will need to have solid all information on each
activity that people will need to make their decision to participate
or not. Most of this is in for most activities. Some items are still
missing, particularly prices.

I'm in the process of going over the information now and the next
posting of the Laundry List will summarize the details of what we need
to finish this.

Thank you:

This was just received and I think it's appropriate to pass it on to let
everybody know that our efforts are indeed appreciated.

+Greetings, ladies.........

+May I say an early "thank you" to whomever is doing all the work to
+enable DLV 2006. There is obviously a tremendous amount of effort and
+time required to create this event for the benefit of all of us 121 or
+more ladies. And yet it occurs with no registration cost or other
+obligation to any of us! Well, to whomever is the driving force behind
+such an incredible effort, I offer a heartfelt "THANK YOU". You deserve
+far more credit than you probably receive, and I assume that just seing
+the event go off successfully is all the reward you need. How unselfish!
+How admirable! How encouraging!

+You go, girls!

+Hugs,

+Christine ( from Atlanta), already proudly registered, and a
+"first-timer".

+P.S. I'm not scared; rather, I'm totally excited! And the event is
+still six weeks and three days away!

Thanks, Michelle, I'll get this one on the schedule.

For Bertolinis this year we can state sign-up required and emphasize
that a sign-up for this one needs to be a definite.

>Yeah... I know this is another test.... ;-) :-)

Oops. Obvious error. I don't think the golfers would like Sahara Buffet
as a golf venue.

Thanks for catching this. It should be fixed now.

>I remember there was a mention of Steven Davids as a possible dinner
>site.... was that EON or are they closed - as in history?

Well, not history yet, from the last I heard, but not doing well. :(

I know there's been some off-line discussion regarding possibly using
Steven David's for something, but nothing definite yet.

>or are they not open to the trans gendered guests?

Back when I was there last October I caught their TV commercials and I
noticed the phrase "Everybody welcome" was used. I mentioned this to
Steven personally, stating that I thought it was a very nice touch. He
said that's the only way it would ever be, and then he mentioned
specificallty that TG people would always be welcome, as we are included
in "everybody".

Well, since I don't see anybody standing up waving their arms and
screaming "ME ME ME", it looks like you get the job. :)

I'm gonna pencil this in for Mainstream/Alternative Night as an option
since that's when I think it will get the best turnout.

IMAO, it might also work as a local option on Tuesday, but that's up
against NSD in a new venue, with a buffet dinner, and a commitment for
adequate attention from the, uh, "independent contractors" so that's
gonna be a hard one to go up against.

It's your call, but unless I hear otherwise I'll put it on Wednesday.

Artisan and Blue Ox:

Nora writes:

>I have been to the Artisan for dinner on a number of occasions. It is
>quite upscale and the food is quite good. Not an extensive menu but
>more than adequate.

Thanks, Nora. I'm gonna put this one down on the list for a drink on
Wednesday for the bar crawl.

>The Blue OX is on Valley view off Oakey I believe. I have been there
>with Mindy several times and it is a nice place, food is good and
>prices very reasonable. Both would be a good fit.

I think either Artisan or Blue Ox would work if somebody wanted to adopt
one of them for Eating Out Night.

Also, if somebody wants to suggest either for a farewell dinner on
Sunday in lieu of Palace Station Buffet, I'm not gonna be terribly
disappointed.
