Org List:

This is the DLV 2006 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.

Ongoing activity database appears on the web at:

Latest ORG items:

Wow, lots of activity. Our mailing list just passed the 600 mark again
just before the first of the year.

There are a lot of organizational things happening, see items below.
Keep those cards and letters coming, gang. :)
. . . . .

Mindy, I'm planning to send out a note in the next mailing regarding
golf and open up the golf list.
. . . . .

Pins:

Yvonne posed this question to me off line. Do we want another issue
of these? Comments?
. . . . .

As of this minute and second we have 40 total attendees + SO's
registered. For returnee registration being open only 4 days, this is
not bad at all. This probably represents about 30% of those who will
come in 2006. :)

Yes, there were a few problems with the screens, and I think they have
all been fixed. In particular, the dates on the from-scratch returnee
screen were bad.
. . . . .

SO activities? This is one item I missed on the Laundry List. There has
been no movement on this one so far this year. Over.

Yes, if this is to occur, we most definitely need a schedule item so
people can plan for it and others can plan other things around it.

I would say to pick a day, either Wednesday or Thursday (Golf is on
Thursday, I don't see a major Wednesday daytime activity yet) and
hold the place. Something like this can fairly easily be rescheduled
to another day or time if necessary.

I'm going to mark this down tentatively for Wednesday to hold the spot.
If you want to move it to Thursday, just say so. Thanks for the updates.

Comments, gang?

Thanks, I'll mark you down as solid for that one.

If the High Tea and the Garden Party are to happen this year, please do
understand that there may be extenuating circumstances, as Mindy may or
may not be able to handle all of the arrangements for these as she has
traditionally done.

I would suggest that if you're a High Tea and/or Garden Party fan,
please step forward as one who volunteers to help making one or both of
these happen.

>I will let you know as soon as I can get confirmation on the dates we

Thanks, Tootsye. :)

Well, I do admit that hitting bowling balls with golf clubs may not
work very well. :)

Yes (oops) and they have been corrected. :)

Thanks, Nora.

>I visited suede tonight spoke to the manager and confirmed that he will

Please pass on the thanks of the group to the management and staff. We
do appreciate it and I'm sure the group will like the place.

>He will make available to us a choice of 5 or 6 dishes which we can

Fussy eaters, vegetarians, vegans, Atkins, lactose intolerant, Galiano
intolerant, etc.: Please speak up. Suede impressed me as a place that
can adjust, so I'm sure suggestions of what might be on the menu would
be entertained.

>Prices will vary per selection and an 18% gratuity will be added to the

I think that billing per table is a reasonable compromise. Comments?
Somebody at each table can play beancounter. :)

>The restaurant opens at 6 and we can have a happy hour prior to
>dining. He did ask for us to provide an approximation of attendees a
>few days prior to the event.

We should have a very close count when general registration closes,
which will be the week before.
. . . . .

>We are also confirmed for the Bahama Breeze on Friday, April 21. We
>have the same location and arrangements as last year and they will

The only real complaint I heard about BB was that some orders and quite
a few checks were slow, due to staffing. If they agree to increase the
staffing level, I don't envision any issues.

>We also have to provide an estimated attendance a few days before the
>event.

Yes, we will be able to provide a close count about a week before.

Now, I show this on the schedule as being tied to the wedding. How are
plans coming on that, and what time(s) do we want to designate for the
"reception" at the BB?

Also, have any plans been made for the ceremony?

Bachelorette party? :)

Need more help:

Lorraine writes:

Hewwo. :)

>see you soon

Yes, we most definitely can use your help, thanks. We can definitely use
you for an Eating Out Night hostess. I'll mark you down for that. Also
I recall Ginger volunteering for that as well, so that makes 3, you, me,
and Ginger. Any others?

What our immediate need right now is, is for thinking and brainstorming
regarding filling out the holes in our schedule. Our big gaping hole is
for Saturday evening. It's totally blank as of now.
