This mailing:

This is the routine weekly mailing, delayed one day due to the issue and
motion on the floor. Please watch for additional items referring to the
scheduling issue.

For our planning purposes, please continue to assume that we will have
a Sunday to Saturday timeframe until a time that we may vote in another
set of dates.
. . .

Polls remain open. Have you voted yet?
. . .

Unless there are objections, I'm going to hold off on our suggested
hotel vote until our scheduling is final.

Various items:

Nora, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of a welcome
dinner at Suede on Sunday evening. HH could be either there or at
Freezone across the street. (I think the Suede staff would probably
like HH there for the bar business.) :)

Suede is a place where most everybody will be comfortable, the food has
been demonstrated to be good, and it's not a place where our more out
people are gonna feel claustrophobic.

Does this sound like it would work? Thanks.

It would also give Yvonne a place for "That Table" for at least a few
hours. :)
. . . . .

Edy, do you know if the Buck Wild show with Tiny, et. al. plays on
Sunday? I am thinking that it might make a very nice opening night
thing for our group.

Comments, gang?

Ok, I'm going to add Sunbathing and Boating for Tuesday. Please pick a
day for the dance instruction to hold the space. Thanks.

Ya know {wheels turning ...}, there are a couple of local news clowns
that I wouldn't mind making look like jerks! :( However (comma) ...

If you want a real sleazoid place there's the Western downtown, also the
Hotel Nevada downtown. (I would never hear the end of it if Densie found
out what the sign on that one says.) :)

There are also some trashy looking places in the Del Mar area as well
as just to the southeast of downtown.

Oh, I know you have support. I haven't heard any poo-poo-ing of it yet,
and I think people are interested and curious to see what this will be.

Oh yes, that is a TRIP! :) Just so I'm not the one riding horizontally
in the back. :)

>Tony will be the one sponsoring air tours, if we're going to do them.
>I don't fly much anymore.

Ok, Tony, got a day in mind? Yes, it's a small activity, but if it
appears on the schedule and people get used to seeing it on there,
you'll get the interest up for it.

The way it looks is that there's no way we can limit it to 10 or so,
but from what I'm picking up there is effort to eliminate the
cattle-call atmosphere, the frequently-cited disappointments about
the food, and the lack of participation of the ladies of the evening.

Oh yes, it's a definite attention getter and conversation starter. :) At
Pinkfest one of the lounges we frequent had an insult comic performing
and he was picking on various members of the audience (right, Mrs.
Roper?) but he seemed to leave me alone even though I tried baiting him
a few times. After the break I went up near the stage, caught his eye,
and pointed to the lettering on my shirt, but for some reason he
wouldn't take the bait. :)

> Steven David's:

>Is that the place where we got the prime rib?

No, that was Jerry's Nugget in North Las Vegas.

Steven David's is the jazz club that's just a few blocks east of the
Sahara. I'm hoping it will still be around for DLV.

Jerry's Nugget is not a place I would recommend in general for our
group. For small groups where nobody is "screaming tranny" it's fine but
it's a very blue collar place and the clientele seems to run a bit on
the red (neck) side.

. . . . .

Here is the story on that, and I'm not everybody, so I would be very
interesting in hearing comments about this from the gang ...

For the past few years I've tried to keep the final Friday and Saturday
evenings reserved for larger single-track activities, in the hope of
getting as many of our people together at once for Quality Social
Time<tm> and such.

Well, for the past two years at least, we never really had much of a big
bang for an ending, more like a fizzle-out. :( We had places close,
management attitudes change, and substandard service. The idea of big
high-interest single-track activities just hasn't worked out very well.

>We will probably plan something for Fri. or Sat. at a time not
>conflicting terribly with DLV, and have a few of the girls we know

>It sounds like there will be plenty to do this coming year.

My hunch is that there will be some kind of a show on the schedule for
Saturday evening, and that will attract a good percentage of our people
but not all of them.

On Friday we've always tried to have what we call our Annual Mixer,
where we've often had the largest single gathering of our people in one
place at one time. For most years it worked out well, last year it
didn't.

If you are restricted to Friday and Saturday, one option might be to
have your wedding reception as the Annual Mixer. I can see a wedding
ceremony drawing some of our people, but a wedding reception drawing
most of them.

Ok, here's my take on this ... let's see, how do I put this ...

George Wallace is not for everybody. I daresay this show is not for 60%
of our group. I wouldn't recommend it for those who are just getting
their first public exposure, nor for those who have thin skin.

I don't think Aiko intends this to be a single-track large group thing,
(Aiko, correct me if I'm wrong here) but one that's offered on an
evening when there are other options.

As for giving advance notice of the nature of our group, I'm not sure I
like the idea. It will, of course, be up to those who coordinate the
activity if it is to be done, but I can see something like that actually
backfiring.

Ok, thanks. I'm currently cleaning up the registration screen and this
year I want to move in the Big Sister and Roommate items on to the main
DLV screen. We'll call for a test of the registration process in the
next month or so.

>2. I'll do the cruise / sun bathing (but wont come back to

I have both on the calendar.

Everybody: Do we have a volunteer to commit to coordinating the move
from the rendezvous point to the boat? I think we need somebody
committed in advance to do this.

Also, everybody: Any thoughts of a default carpool rendezvous point
for this coming year? Sahara surface parking lot?

Thanks. Please pick a day/time, even if just to hold the space for now.

>4. With a possible split NSD - I'll help out if help is needed

There ya go, Aiko. :)
