This might as well be called the Special Restaurant Edition of this
list. :) Lots of good ideas and discussion. Let's keep it up. :)
. . .

As you probably figured, this mailing was held up in order to let the 48
hour voting window expire and report the results in this mailing. See
below.
. . .

They tell me (the ubiquitous "they") that "Spamalot" will be opening
at the Wynn "within the year", at least that's what "they" tell me. :)

Do you think this would be something our group would enjoy?

Ok, let's put this down as a possibility. A few questions ...

What's the overall type and atmosphere of the place? Is it more of a
restaurant, nightclub, showroom? Any regular entertainment?

Do you think this would be a possibility for a large group meal?

What type of cuisine? Atmosphere? Price range?

With the history of shut-downs, changes, and turnovers of businesses in
that area, does it appear that it will be around, open, and in the same
state next April?

Full of questions, aren't I? :)

>>Tony Roma's (we had a group eat there in 1999)
>>Battista's (ya love it or ya hate it!) :)
>>Hofbrauhouse (always wanted to try it)

>I would agree with the suggestions for Tony Roma's and possibly
>Battista's.

And I'm thinking about both as possibilities for Eating Out Night
smaller groups, as opposed to large group things.

>The Hofbrauhouse has good food but is noisy and raucous with what
>seems like hundreds of kids running around. The oompah band is
>constantly playing at the highest decibel possible. If you want to

I haven't heard about the rugr^H^H^H^Hkids. I've heard the atmosphere is
"loud and festive" and not the place to hold an intimate conversation.

But -- if there are a lot of kids, it might not be a good choice.

>I would suggest Marie Callendars for a new group venue.

That's a nice casual place and it has a good variety of food, something
that even the most picky food creep will like.

>As far as casino Restaurants, Boulder Station has a few good
>restaurants. (I love the Mexican restaurant). We have always been
>welcomed and treated well there. I would add any of the station
>casinos to the list.

Boulder Station is off the central corridor, but really is not
that far away. It would be a possibility for an EON selection.

We've been to Palace Station (buffet) before, but from what I've been
hearing, the buffet over there has slipped from what it used to be.

>The Rainbow Lounge although a bit small is good and they have
>entertainment on several nights.

It looked good the one time I was in there, although I didn't have
anything to eat. I see this is a good contender for a "safe" option
for EON.

>Smith and Wollensky, Gallaghers and lawry's are pretty pricey.

Uh-huh, they sure are. :) Some people do want upscale options for
group meals or EON type things.

Thanks, Nora. :)

I've heard good things about this place, but haven't been there.

>MARIE CALANDERS: basic ly America. moderate price. can seat 20 to 30
>depending on location. we have been to several in the las vegas area

#include <lefty_rosenthal_car_firebomb.h> :) :)

>afford it. they can seat almost any number of people.

>RAINBOW LOUNGE: better then normal bar food. low prices. entertainment
>most nights. mostly gay clients. can seat 20 or so.

Ok, two votes for each three above. :) These sound like definite
possibilities.

>RAINBOW GRILL: havent been there myself but have heard good things.

Where is this? What type of food? What price range?

>TGI FRIDAYS: everybody's been to one. we have several in las vegas.
>moderate prices. interesting menu. also have a nation wide trivia
>game. can seat 40 to 50 at most locations.

Oh yes, ubiquity at its finest. :) I see this as a good EON selection
for those who are maybe just venturing out into more mainstream places
and want something more contemporary than Marie C's.

>THE BLUE OX: havent been there as a group but it is one of my regular
>hang outs. owner expressed interest in havering us come for lunch or
>dinner. they have a semi private room that can seat around 40. bar
>type menu. inexpensive. minn. sports theme.

>BOOTLEGGER: Italian/America owned by the former lt. gov. fantastic
>entertainment. a little expensive

I forgot about this one. Yes, I agree it would be a good one. I get
the vibes like it would be t-friendly.

>I am sure some of the other local gals have some ideas too. to be
>honest every place we have tried, including mickey d's, has been fine
>and for the most part should be the same at any decent place in las
>vegas.

Thanks, Mindy. :)
