Last call for additions and changes:

TSIA.

If you're coordinating anything at DLV this year, please check your
e-mail frequently this coming week, as there may be some last minute
issues that we will have to deal with.

Wednesday morning at about 0800 CDT is the drop-dead time for any
schedule additions, deletions and changes. That's when the main part of
the Large Final Mailing with the final schedule, etc. will go out.

The line has to be drawn somewhere, and Wednesday morning is about as
close to show time as we can draw it.

As you will see below, we have one more potential Zingers pull-out in
the works. We'll need to have that confirmed as of Wednesday or else the
schedule will go out with locations and times possibly to be announced.

Aiko, Nora, everybody? Do we want to make any more changes with respect
to Zingers? If these are to happen, they need to happen NOW, and if
they happen after Wednesday morning, there will still be many people
showing up at the original place.

Some copies of the LFM have already been sent out, with warnings, of
course, that changes may occur. I'm sure there will be a couple more
early LFM requests between now and Wednesday.

The numbers game:

Please think of all numbers, projections, etc., as approximate.

In particular, that waiting list cutoff point shown on the rosters can
vary plus or minus one detail line due to roundoff errors and noise in
the system. The best (worst) example is the Slumber Party, where it's
totally full from the priority of the combined LGTP and Slumber Party.
As you'll notice, the cutoff has allowed one detail line on the good
side. This is the only one I'm really concerned about.

If you're coordinating an activity, please think of your real-world
turnout as somewhere between the headcount projection and the actual
sign-up count. I would say that 98% of the sign-ups that will come in
are in, so we're within 2% of our final sign-up totals. We've never had
a DLV without no-shows, both for activities and for the event as a
whole, so it's doubtful that any of you will see the higher number as
your actual turnout.

There are also some errors and inconsistencies that I detected on a
sanity check last night. The most obvious is one couple (Carolina and
Juddy {sic}) who have registered and selected activities twice, each
with the other as their SO. I'm in the process of sorting that one out
and checking for others.

I've also noticed a few names who are habitual no-shows, those who have
signed up in the past for multiple years but did not show. Ironically,
many of these are local to Las Vegas.

One other thing we're going to do this year, and the procedure is still
being worked out, is that following check-in, we're going to try to get
together with each and every attendee and review their activity
sign-ups, both to help minimize dropouts, but also to clarify things
like where they have to be, who they have to pay, etc.

Dancing and sunbathing:

Diane writes:

>Thank you for having the Arthur Murray Dance studio on the general
>map. Our head count remains somewhat stable at 17.6 people.

That's what it says now. Sign-ups and changes are still trickling in but
my guess is that you'll see somewhere between the machine-predicted
number of 17.6 and the sign-up of 24.

>Is the Michelle(2) that is signed up for the sunbathing and boat
>cruise, the M. from NZ?

Uh-huh, those be a couple of Kiwis. :)

>If so, would you please pass onto her that I should be there by 9:10.
>My flight lands at 8:05 and I will still need to get a car and travel
>the few miles to Zinger's parking lot (?) for the meeting of those
>interested...

Well, since she usually reads these mailings ... :)

NSD:

Jamie writes:

>Concerning the NSD. Is there going to be a Bar-B-Q?

Not a BBQ, but more like a pizza-lasagna-salad buffet.

I was gonna bring Peeps again, but instead I'm thinking of maybe picking
up some kind of a dessert just to pass around.

>Will it be inside or outside?

Aiko?

>I will also be driving there and will have a carload, of 4.

As of this time it looks like there will be far more seats than there
will be tushes to fill them. I'll have a vehicle and I'll drive if
needed, but I would prefer to be able to imbibe. :)

Thrift shopping:

>there has been some interest in shopping at the thrift stores again
>this year. looking at the schedule i think tues would be the best.. no
>need for a sign up just let people know that for shopping we will meet
>at the sahara hotel rear lobby (by rear valet parking) at 11 am

Thanks, Mindy, it's on the slate.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Ars Gratia Artis:

>Just a reminder. If for some unknown reason you are unable to make it
>to the early session of the art tour, we will have an afternoon version
>as well. Same meeting place, but at the more civilized hour of 2:00.

Ok, I'll adjust the LFM notes to reflect that the second part will
depart from the same rendezvous place at 2:00pm.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Pity Party update:

>due to conflits at zingers i will be trying to make arrangements for
>the pity party on thurs night at paddies. i will have more details
>monday or tues..

Thanks for the updates, Mindy. Please let us know prior to Wednesday.
I'm adjusting the location to "TBA", so please let us know so the actual
location can go out in the LFM.
