Org List:
This is the DLV 2005 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.
Ongoing activity database appears on the web at:

Late mailing:
This mailing is several hours late due to many things happening and
some items not getting in until just a few hours ago.
If a few things seem rough, I did the final edit on many of these
in the last few minutes.
Thanks to everybody for your effort into making DLV work as well as
it has this year! :)
. . . . .
A couple rather significant changes to the schedule:
1. Carluccios's dinner (and SBS Social) rescheduled to Saturday. See
various notes below.
2. Death Valley Tour postponed until DLV 2006 due to road and scenic
area closures.
3. A couple minor timing adjustments, and more to come.
>From now on, if changes are to be made, they need to be made with a
scalpel and not with a meat cleaver.
We do have a couple of latecoming major activity suggestions in various
items below. If these are adopted, meaning somebody writes in and says
"YES" where "coordinator needed" is noted by Friday morning, then yes,
they can go on the schedule and on activity sign-up.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Friday and Saturday schedules:
We've had to move Carluccio's to Saturday. We may need to make some
adjustments in the schedule. Here's the way it currently sits:
Saturday, April 30:
2:00pm English High Tea (Four Seasons)
6:00pm Happy Hour (Carluccio's - MS)
7:00pm Dinner (Carluccio's - MS)
8:30pm Michael Cagle Show (Zingers - SV)
11:59pm Rocky Horror Picture Show (Paradise Theater - SV)
It looks to me like there is a crunch issue between dinner and Cagle.
I see the following options:
1. Move Cagle to a start time of 9:00pm. Will this work for the Zingers
schedule?
2. Earlier start for HH and dinner, like HH at 5 and dinner at 6. Will
this cause any problems.
Comments?
Let's hear some chatter from the infield, gang! :)

Activity sign-up:
That's the big thing this week. We're about all set to get this started
on Friday morning.
This is LAST CALL for any activities that need to be on the activity
sign-up screen. Friday morning, about 0800 CST is the cutoff. It's very
easy to add additional items prior to the start of the sign-up, but
almost impossible after it starts.
(knocking on wood) I think we do have enough details to get this going
on schedule, fortunately.
Thanks to all who helped shake the thing down. I think all of the major
bugs have been squashed. If anybody else tried this and got a whole
slew of what may appear to be strange output, that's what you get with
debugging turned on. The regular output will be down below the mess.

Sign-up and Wednesday:
Densie writes:
>>Yes, this will pull up a screen in my name. Please try to sign me up for
>>anything, everything, nothing.
>There is a grayed-out selection (2) on all of the activities, and I

The greyed-out section is for somebody coming with a SO, and if there's
no SO that's just a placebo.
>I put in a UNIX command:
>find / -name annie -exec rm {} \;

Oh, so that's why I couldn't find anything that night. :)
. . . . .
>>Another option for a gathering that night that comes to mind immediately

>As long as it's not in San Hooters. Their showroom was WAY too small

Yes, it is at San Hooters for now.
I would describe the San Hooters showroom as being "intimate" but not
crowded unless they oversell and try to pack more in there than it
can comfortably hold.
The way it looks, if SOM happens (see below) it will be a 2-track
option with Goodtimes.

EON headcount:
Crystal writes:
>I wasn't expecting a headcount and it isn't critical, but I sure would
>like to know approx how many people to expect only because I plan on
>giving each person a lil souvenir. A headcount could help me plan this
>better.
Ok, since 2 of the hostesses are in favor of it and I'm neutral on it,
let's go ahead with it, with a note that it is approximate and can
freely be changed on a whim. It should be added as of this mailing time.

High Tea:
Mindy writes (from a conversation):
>>>well lets go with 2 pm at the 4 seasons for the high tea..
>>Thanks, Mindy. Will that be Friday or Saturday?
>sat.. also will be offline for till maybe monday or tues due to the
>move.. once back on line i will have the golf payment and sign up info
>ready to go..
Thanks, Mindy. We'll get that on the schedule. There ya go, High Tea
fans.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Showgirls Of Magic:
Edy writes (from a conversation):
>>>An idea. Last year a group of us Diva types met at the San Rameo bar
>>>area Sunday night. Someone from "Girls of Magic" noticed us and
>>>offered all ten of us free admission to the show, drinks included.
>>>The show was great and afterwards they took pics of all ten of us
>>>with the show girls.
>>That would have been Steve Daly, aka "Tiny Bubbles", along with
>>sidekick Antonio "The Great Antoine" Hoyo.
>>It's always possible for an informal group to go, and there is an
>>evening where it would be possible to do a group thing as an option.
>>That would be Wednesday. Monday would also have time for an optional
>>activity, but SOM is dark on Monday.
>Went to SanRemo and talked to Tiny. They will be open thru April and
>would offer us two for one.
That is a very good deal! Thanks for checking into this.
If it's going to happen as an "official" DLV activity, somebody will
have to step forward and take this on prior to Friday morning, which
is the drop-dead date/time for the activity sign-up. Edy has volunteered
to do the preliminary work, but she has to leave DLV prior to the show.

Bowling and mini-golf:
Michelle (NV) writes:
>bowling is set. attendees can also call me to sign up 702-581-7160.
>Also i am currently having some kind of problem with my paypal account.
Ok, I'll get this on the sign-up to phone for payment info.
>Mini golf can happen before or after lunch at the Sahara on Tuesday
>since its located very close to there.. This event is just show up,
>they dont seem to take reservations
Please pick one, before or after, so we can get a definite time on the
schedule.
>you might have heard this already- Annie i got an error message that
>said Golf! and Dance Instruction! were incompatible!!! (hard to fathom
>since unless im missing something- these happen on different days! lol)
Good catch! :) Things like this are what we need to be looking for. It
was a control file error and very easy to fix. Thanks.

Charles Bar:
Gina writes:

>Here's what he wrote:
+Hey Gina! Great to hear from you. Glad you and the rest of the girls
+are coming soon. I am still at Bellagio with no plans to move. I was
+offered a graveyard casino service shift (serving the cocktail girls)
+at Wynn, but I turned it down. My little bar is gonna have to do for
+me, I guess. Business has been pretty good of late (knocking on wood as
+we speak), and I think I can ride the tide for now. My days off have
+changed slightly since last you were here...I do not work Monday
+night/Tuesday morning or Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, and my shift
+still starts at 2am. I look forward to seeing you, and I'll keep a
+bottle of Booker's stashed just for you. See you in a month or so.
+Charles.
Thanks, Gina. I'll get the schedule adjusted.

Matinee Movie:
Vicki writes:

There are many places on the schedule where this would fit.
*** Coordinator needed.
Not much else to say on this one. :)

Carluccio's:

Thanks, Leah. Yes, I do have the details. I'll grep thru some
directories and find them.
Any objections to changing this to Saturday? One and only one call for
comments! :)

I did (I think) find a stock photo of the place. I think that's the
