This is the DLV 2005 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com)

Latest updates:

Lots of things happening, and still running quite smoothly. :)

Thanks to everybody who provided details. Things are coming together
quite nicely. (Didn't I just say that?) :)

There are a few schedule items that need to be decided. I've made my
comments, and we need some final decisions from those in charge of the
activities.

Now is the time to do any major schedule adjustments if they need to
be done. Mindy has nailed the golf in place on Thursday, so that is
one anchor now firmly set.
. . .

There probably won't be a general mailing this weekend. Nothing really
newsworthy this week.
. . .

Total validated headcount is 91. I was holding my breath waiting for
that 90th one to pop in for what seemed like forever, but all of a
sudden, BANG-BANG 91! :)

Two Alicias, three Denises, kinda, three Julies, two Lorraines, three
Michelles, only one Annie so far (>>>HINT<<<). :)

SO comments:

Michelle (NZ) writes:

>Attached are some comments from my SO. Slightly modified to protect the
>innocent!

+As a new SO in terms of DLV I would assume I will:

+A/ hang out with the girls
+B/ do stuff for myself (LV And a car? Of course)
+C/ do stuff with <another SO I know> (we are planning a few day trips)
+D/ one or two SO events if appropriate

+What is appropriate?

+- SO breakfast or lunch
+- SO shared trip to some venue (1/2 day)

+SO's are a group defined only by the fact we have the girls in our life.

+We don't really have a common purpose.

+So if natural friendships form and we want to do something separate its
+not a problem if they are ad hoc

+A single get together early on in the piece could evolve from there.
+But don't over plan our events please.
. . .

Thanks, Michelle (and Michelle's other half, whose name I don't know). :)

Any other SO comments. Any interest in SO-specific activities?

Krave and FSE:

Thanks for the report, Jenni. I take it you're leaning toward Krave
instead of Gipsy for the Dance Night.

Yes, I think the Golden Nugget is as good a place to meet as anything
downtown. If you or somebody you designate just hangs around there and
remains conspicuous, everybody should be able to make contact with at
least part of the group.

>We may want to bill this event as "An Evening of Enchanting Lights; The

Evening Of Enchanting Lights ... Ok ... all you really have to do is
pick an evening. :)

I see 2 timeslots where this would work.

1. As a mainstream option for Mainstream/Alternative night on Monday.

2. As a featured activity after Eating Out Night on Wednesday.

So, pick a day. :)

>I have always enjoyed the small shops, restaurants and the unique

Yes, we could use the parking lot at Zingers if people wanted to
carpool. If this (EOEL) follows EON on Wednesday, meeting to carpool may
be a challenge since not everybody will be getting done with dinner at
the same time.

Parking downtown is not as convenient as on the Strip, but it's really
not that bad. The valet parking at either Golden Nugget or Fremont is
about as easy as you can get. Other places are definitely do-able.

Slumber Party update:

Ok, thanks, we will give your number to those who are signed up as a
part of their final mailing.

>Also, we can set a time to meet in the San Remo parking lot and let
>many come over as a group. (using the back gate and avoiding the lobby)

Yes, we could just say in the information to meet at the SR parking lot
at a certain time.

>In order to preserve the party atmosphere and group experience, I will

Yeah, uh, um, I guess it would be a good idea to keep the bedroom doors
open. :)

We'll get that information out in the final detailed schedule.

What do we call this? "Little Girl Tea Party"?

LOL - This reminds me of when I was very young and getting conned into
playing tea party on the stoop with the neighborhood girls. :) :) :)

Chutes and ladders. :) :)

Actually, I can see this as being a second alternative option for
Mainstream/Alternative night.

What we can do is this ... we'll put this on the activity sign-up
list as a separate activity. Then it can be cancelled if not enough
sign up. Starting April 1, when activity sign-up starts, you will be
able to get an idea of how many are interested.

For an activity such as this, we will be able to give you a fairly
accurate count of how many bodies will actually show.

My hunch is that yes, you will get at least 3.

I do have a few questions for you, Sarona:

1. Dress for both activities? Are these girlmode-only?

Will little-girl outfits be required for the Tea Party?
Will sleepwear/loungewear be required for the Slumber Party?

2. Maximum capacity for both activities?

3. Cost for each activity. It's best for a DLV activity to print a
definite amount, even if it's on the high side. How much do you want
to charge for each?

4. Payment arrangements: Prepay? Pay you in person prior? Pay at the
activity?

Ok, just to confirm, Bowling will be Monday, April 25, 3:00pm at Sams
Town. Prepay $10 via Paypal. If any of that is incorrect, please let
me know.

I might suggest something early in the day on Tuesday, opposite the Lake
Mead tour, as opposed to Wednesday before the dance instruction. You do
want them to have plenty of time to get ready for the Night Of The
Soiled Doves.

Activity thoughts:

Michelle (NV) writes:

>1. I dont want to have something im doing conflict with NSD this year.
>Around what time do you think this will have to start? ie meeting for
>the trip.

Meet at 5:00pm at Zingers parking lot. Carpool from there.

Since lots of people will want to spend time getting ready for NSD, I
would be sure that anything before NSD ends no later than 2:00pm at
the latest.

The consensus seems to be that Folies is the one which will get us the
turnout we want for the feature production show on Thursday.

But as you say ...

>Actually its possible to do either of these on Monday night for M/A
>night or Wednesday night.

Either of these might work as a smaller group thing as you say. Mama Mia
seems to be aimed at Abba fans, "great if you love Abba more than your
own mother" as one web site says. :) I really don't know much about
Fashionistas.

If you want to sponsor something, I see either Monday or Wednesday as
appropriate timeslots. We don't want to schedule anything that will
spoil the turnout at the feature activities on Friday or Saturday.

Agreed, I think the consensus is that this is the best one overall for
our group for the Thursday show.

You could always phone, be direct, and see what kind of a response you
get. My guess is that if you have money, they will take you! :)

Thanks, Diane. I am planning to use this as the featured activity in the
next general mailing. I'll be sure the discount is in there.
