Org List:

This is the DLV 2005 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.

Ongoing activity database appears on the web at:

Moving right along:

There was no ORG mailing last week. Things will most likely remain
somewhat slow thru the end of the year.
. . . . .

Good report on Zingers below.

Additional reports or reports on any of the other new places would be
most welcome too.
. . . . .

Two weeks until our hotel Call For Votes goes out.

Nominations so far: (In order of nomination)

Sahara
Boardwalk
Imperial Palace
San Remo/Hooters

No Bellagio or any other "upscale" nomination so far. Also no non-casino
nomination. See note immediately below on this.

We're getting close to the wire for nominations, so if there are any
others, please send them in so they can be considered.
. . . . .

On the subject of hotels, according to {Everything Las Vegas}, the
Clarion Suites, which was one of our suggested hotels last year, will be
demolished along with the Key Largo next door to make room for yet
another condo/timeshare development.

The newsletter stated January 17 as the closing date.
. . . . .

Here's kind of a different suggestion, and quite honestly I don't know
of any artist who does this.

>A suggestion for the 2005 Diva. It would be a good idea to get either
>a portrait articst or charature artist to come in and do portraits
>of the girls. Not photography or glamor shots, but pencil or charcoal
>portraits. They can make somebody look far more appealng than a
>conventional photograph.

If somebody wants to take this one on, be my guest, but I'm thinking
that a better idea might be to just list one or more portrait and/or
caricature artists and let the people decide.

I seem to recall a caricature artist at the Riviera, kind of in the
passage between the food court and the casino, and I vaguely remember
one at, of all places, FISM.

Anybody local (or not local) have any leads or suggestions on this?

Zingers:

Nora writes:

>Tonight we went to the opening of Zingers night club.

>It is the one place we needed along to go to. A wonderful fully TG
>friendly club that will suit all our needs. We can have no better
>meeting place for the DLV.

>As you know the owners of Zingers are both active participants of
>previous DLVs. They are known and trusted in the community.

Yes, and once again, congratulations to Monica, Ricki, and staff!

>The Location is on Sahara a block away from the Glamour Boutique and a
>short distance from the Sahara which is a main hotel used by our
>participants.

>Not only do I recommend that we have at least one night outing at the
>club but it is perfect for our needs as a staging area and gathering
>point for all our trips and events. The parking lot is more than ample
>to park and assemble our convoys to the different locations that we
>will be going.

>I recommend that we consider using Zingers as a focal point for DLV
>2005.

This sounds highly promising! Thanks for the report. :)

I'm glad to see that Zingers is off to a good start.

If they don't mind some of our people leaving cars behind in their lot,
I don't see any problem with using the Zingers parking lot as the
default staging area for the carpool type activities. I'm sure they
will get some incidental business from this as well.

>From your positive report, I'm going to tentatively put this in as the
location for our "Maximum Turnout Get-together" on Wednesday, as I don't
think we're going to be able to find anything which would be more
conducive to getting as many of our people out as possible.

One question that still goes unanswered is about any food service they
have or plan to have. I know that Keys/Dakota had a full kitchen and
that was a factor that drew people in. Anybody know of any plans for
food service at Zingers?

Now a question for the whole ORG group ... It's obvious that Zingers
will be extremely popular. How much do we want to focus our business
on one club, as opposed to spreading it around to the others such as
Goodtimes, Flex, and the other various new ones that have opened or
will open shortly?

I would particularly like to hear from the "mainstream/upscale"
contingent regarding this.

Comments?

Golf comments:

>As for which day for golf, i would like to see it go back to friday
>morning, but if the only choices are wed or thurs, put me down for
>thursday. (besides, I have the Tiara...)
. . . . .

>I'm a friend of Nora's. I'm interested in this years golf outing.
>Wednesday or Thursday, makes no difference. Scramble format seems
>better to me.
. . . . .

There ya go, golfers. :)

Dress suggestions and guidelines:

As many of you know, our people are calling for more detailed dress
suggestions, both general and activity-specific, earlier in the process.

I would like to have a recurring "column" on dress issues and
suggestions in our mailings beginning after the first of the year. This
would be in addition to the dress suggestions on the activity write-ups
in the mailings.

For those who are in charge of activities, I would invite you to submit
dress suggestions or guidelines, for these activities.

For everybody, if you would like to participate in the authoring of the
"column", please raise your hand. :) The more that others send in, the
less "world according to Annie" will appear. :) :)

Some topics that would be appropriate:

Planning the wardrobe, general and specific.

Shopping for outfits for DLV.

Packing and travel tips.

All-day and day-after-day suggestions. (I'm not sure just how to word
that one, but many of our people aren't used to going a whole day, let
alone several days.

Anyway, any aspiring authors out there? :)
