Org List:
This is the DLV 2004 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.

Getting closer:
We're now two months out. We're rounding the turn and coming up on the
stretch.
The big item this coming month is to get all activities which need any
kind of a sign-up or hoop-jump solid, so we can get our activity sign-up
process launched on time.
We're scheduled to begin activity sign-up on April 1. Prior to April 1,
it's very easy, almost trivial, to add another activity to the sign-up
process or to change the paramaters of any activity. After April 1 it's
close to impossible.
I would like to ask everybody to please look over the schedule of
activities and if there's any reason why something is not going to
work, bring the subject up here. If there's gonna be a problem with
any activity, we need to know about it sooner, not later.
In the upcoming general mailings prior to activity sign-up time, I would
like to feature some of our "big gun" activities such as the Limo Tour,
Garden Party, Golf, etc.
. . . . .
As mentioned, we are in danger of losing one of our more popular dinner
activities, the Friday evening dinner at Carluccio's, unless somebody
here volunteers to take over the project and make it happen. Going once.
. . . . .
Latest numbers. As you'll see, a number of new registrations have come
in. Big news is that two of our recent registrants are from the UK and
The Netherlands.
Return registrations: 55
Return SO: 12
Return total signup: 67
Return projection: 60
Newcomer registrations: 27
Newcomer SO: 4
Newcomer total signup: 31
Newcomer projection: 12
Total registrations: 82
Total SO: 16
Total signup: 98
Total projection: 72
Validations outstanding: 1
Cancelled registrations: 0
Looking at last year at this time, our numbers match what we had last
year at this calendar day quite closely. One major difference is that we
are one more week out from DLV this year, and our general registration
has just opened. This means that from a days-out perspective, we are
slightly ahead of last year. I would say that we are still on target for
110 or slightly higher total headcount.
Mailing list is now sitting at 464, and 1/4 of that is 116, so it looks
like we have a handle on where the numbers are converging.

Limo tour timing:
Jamie writes:
>I think that a 30 min space is a good thing. It does let everyone get

Standing around seems to be a problem if huge crowds of our people
are in one or more large group(s) appearing restless. Maybe a hint to
leisurely use the facilities individually and play the machines or
whatever, and gather at the staging point at 8:00.
>I prefer the Limos but we will check to see waht the difference inprice
>is for the SUVs.
Ok, thanks, Jamie. Please remember that we need to have price and
payment information by the end of this month.
Any other comments about the timing? Ladies? (Gentlemen?)
I've never ridden in one of those stretched SUV's or umpteen-passenger
vehicles, but I would think that they would be kinda like riding in a
cushy school bus, and I have to agree that the regular Cadillac or Town
Car limos would be better. However, I'm not married to it, and it's
really up to you (Jamie and Tootsye) as to what kind of an activity
you plan this year.
Again, comments, gang?

Fashion show and High Tea:
>Looks like the fashion show will be at the pity party.. just send a
>note and i will add you to the models list..
>re the t.. should have the final details in the next week or so ..
>there is a new tea house in town we wish to investigate..
Thanks, Mindy. I'll get a note about modeling in the general mailing
(went out last Sunday) and please let us know when you have details
about the HT.
You should have received a couple queries regarding modeling and
performing.

Lake Mead boat cruise:

$16 and change is a great price for this, but ...
As you know, we don't have any front money for a deposit, and of course
the group can't contractually guarantee any number of sales.
Whether this is at the group rate or full price, I do want to feature
this in an upcoming mailing. If you want to write anything from a few
sentences to a few paragraphs, that would be fine, or if you don't want
to do that, I can get the details from the previous ORG mailing and the
web site and put something together.
>Lets go ahead with the advance purchase (4/21) of 16.15. Those that

>I'm not much at creating a good description for the cruise; I think
>the info would best come from the website.
Ok, here's a draft of what I plan on running in the next general
mailing. Some of it was cut-pasted from their web site.
For the queries, I can either send them your mailing address and info,
or forward the queries to you, whichever you prefer.

+Lake Mead Boat Cruise:
+Each of our general mailings prior to DLV will feature one of our DLV 2004
+activities. This week we feature Tuesday's Lake Mead cruise.
+We will be taking a mid-day sightseeing cruise aboard the Desert
+Princess, which is an authentic, three-level, Mississippi-style
+paddlewheeler.
+Diane has negotiated a discount rate of $16.15 per person, which is a
+steal for this type of a cruise. See sign-up details below for payment
+information.
+Daytime on Lake Mead gives passengers a chance to enjoy the full beauty
+and majesty of the area. Plenty of sunshine and refreshing breezes are
+yours to enjoy while you take in the breathtaking sights.
+Photographers will love the colorful landscapes and panoramic views.
+Just a few of the awesome landmarks include Fortification Hill, a
+clearly-defined, extinct volcano, The Arizona Paint Pots, a wonderland
+of color and of course, the magnificent Hoover Dam.
+The Desert Princess is the pride of the Lake Mead Cruises fleet. She is
+spaciously equipped with 2 climate-controlled enclosed decks and an open
+promenade deck just perfect for taking in the cool, clean air and the
+wondrous sights.
+The cruise is narrated and is expected to take about 1 1/2 hours. We'll
+be back in Las Vegas with plenty of time to get ready for the Night Of
+The Soiled Doves activities in the evening.
+We will meet at the rendezvous point (location and explicit directions
+announced in the Large Final Mailing) at 10:30am and carpool to Lake
+Mead Landing.
+Dress: Casual, boymode or girlmode. The cruise operator recommends
+layered clothing, since the lake may be breezy and lake breezes can be
+quite cool compared to the air temperature in Las Vegas.
+Price: $16.15 per person. Advance payment by April 21 is necessary to
+obtain this price. For payment instructions, write dlv@geekbabe.com or
+just reply to this mailing and request Lake Mead Tour payment
+instructions.
+Please join me in thanking Diane for coordinating this excursion!

Air tours revisited:
Densie writes:
>It is a possibility. I was planning on driving the coach up, but

It would be great if Tony can join us as well.
If you're certain by April 1 that the plane will be there, we can get it
back on the schedule and give you a sign-up list. Otherwise it can be
just an informal thing.
Looking at the schedule, it would fit fine on Friday morning.
