Since our dates are tentatively set, I've started the preliminary daily
schedule, and the summary version will appear in each ORG mailing, down
at the bottom right before the administrivia. The full version appears
on the web at the URL above. (Or is it below?) As you can see, not much
is on it, but it will fill in. Please consider anything there right now
and in the near future to be highly tentative.

I've also included the standing activities of the daily Lunch With
or Without Ginger and the Happy Hour as well. For now, I put HH at
5:00pm, but that can be adjusted daily as needed.

If you're in charge of a particular activity and want to see it
happen on a certain time, please send in a note and we'll get that
moved over to the scheduled items.

Anybody local to Las Vegas who is in touch, tall Michelle's mail is
bouncing with "user unknown", anybody have a current e-mail address for
her?

A note about this, asking for feedback, will go out in the general
mailing tomorrow. I would like to encourage those of you on this list
here to please send in feedback and comments. I've already made mine
known, but I'm sure I didn't cover everything we would like.

Sorry you had to miss the wedding. :)

Yes, please let us know what you find out. We don't have to make any
decision on what we're gonna do about hotels until November, but it
will be good to see exactly where we stand with these places.

>If Mindy agrees, I prefer a Saturday afternoon for the SBS Garden
>Party.

I'm going to add this to the in-progress schedule to reserve this time.
It can be changed if necessary. Personally, I thought that timeslot
worked out quite well.

>Location, etc. TBD later.

Mindy is on record volunteering her place again, at least that's what the
notes on the activity item says. :)

I would also like to see this activity designated as "sacred", meaning
we don't two-track anything on the schedule against it, and try to
encourage everybody to attend. (History has shown that not everybody
will, however.) This is one thing that everybody can enjoy, from those
who are first coming out that week to those who are defensively
mainstream.

Limo payment:

>Tootsey and I are looking at having the Limo Tour "Prepaied". This will
>eliminate any overruns and missed girls. Hopefully.

Question ... By "prepaid", do you mean $$$ sent in prior to DLV, or paid
at DLV by some particular deadline?

Art for art's sake:

For those who haven't been following the discussion on the DLV
Discussion forum, there's been quite a bit of talk lately about getting
a group together at DLV 04 to visit a local art museum or exhibit.

(from a conversation)

Nora writes:

n>I am willing to join you when you come here and seek out places
n>suitable for the DLV. I cant speak for the others here in Las Vegas
n>but I am certain that they are reading these postings and I hope they
n>are also willing. I can connect you with others here in Las Vegas and
n>add you to out local group.

and Sarah continues:

s>Thanks for the offer. I've sent you more detail in a longer rambling
s>note that would just take up space here. But for anyone else, please
s>feel free to make suggestions on this (not that we have too many
s>shrinking violets in the discussion group). We will be researching
s>and will report back to the group mid to late October.

s>So girlfriends, start dusting off the old art history books you
s>couldn't sell back after that one liberal arts class you had to take.
...

s>Gasp! It sounds like I've become a volunteer, at least for the time
s>being. I was thinking of going to a "high-brow" art museum early,
s>doing lunch and then maybe something a little more relaxed and fun,
s>like Liberace, later.

Personally, I think something like that would work well.

s>I don't have a preferred day, but it's a little early for that, isn't
s>it?

It's too early to put it in stone, but not too early to be thinking
about where it might fit on the calendar. It would work any day, but
Monday-Thursday would be less crowded.

I would avoid putting it up against the Garden Party, which is a very
popular activity, but it could be two-tracked against just about any
non-high-demand daytime thing.

It might be best to avoid the morning right after a very popular late
activity, such as the Limo Tour, but we won't know what evening that
will be for some time now.

On second thought, you could pick a day now, and let the others schedule
their activities around YOU. :) :)

s>I've never done this sort of thing before and I'd hate to have it
s>turn out less than Diva quality because of my lack of experince.

This is the type of activity which would be good for a "beginner
organizer" since it's fairly straightforward, doesn't require any major
hoop-jumping, and is not too expensive.

As long as you make definite plans in advance, such as a definite
meeting place and a planned-in advance itinerary, done a wee bit of
homework, such as days/hours of operation, admission fees, etc., there's
very little chance that it will be less than Diva Quality<tm>.

Air, nuns, RHPS:

Densie writes:

>We need to have air tours one day only, so the air crews can party.

Ok, just say which day.

>Also, we shouldn't schedule them the morning after a late night event.

As if we're gonna have one night where we do quit early. :) :)

>>Uh ... and just how many "nuns" are you expecting? :)

>A whole bevy, I hope. I will volunteer to be Mother Superior for this
>event.

Bevy? Is that the correct collective noun for Nuns, like a pride of
lions or a scum of lawyers? :)

>It's a shame we can't do Rocky Horror anymore.

Well, we *may* be able to do RHPS, depending on how things go. Big
problem is that they have not had a real cast performing in a real
theater for some time now.

That's the cast who used to put on a good show, was formerly at the
Paradise 6 (before that at the old Torrey Pines), and has had their
share of internal politics and such.

As of last DLV they were putting on irregular shows in an older hall
over in the vicinity of Glamour Boutique. It was either 16mm or video,
definitely not 35mm real theater type film.

They recently moved to a hall in the back of a bookstore over in the
vicinity of Flex. I haven't heard anything about it, but I'm sure
bookstores don't have permanent seats and 35mm projection equipment.

There's also FFO, the other cast. I haven't heard of anything they have
going recently.

>It would be so cool to attend the show dressed as nuns. I think we're
>going to try that here in Tucson...drive up in the hearse with me
>dressed as Mother S. and Tony as...well, you're a RHPS fan, got any
>suggestions?

I would love to bring RHPS back to DLV!

I would say play this one by ear and let's keep eyes and ears open for
RHPS happenings there in LV. The RHPS scene there has been very iffy for
the past couple years. (IMAO it was iffy the last time we saw it here,
we had a good turnout, but the show sucked.)

RHPS is one activity where people can dress in almost anything they want
to, and it's just fine, even encouraged to go slutty, trashy, and very
unconventional.

I'm going to put this on the schedule as a tentative, and we can check
to see what the situation is as the date approaches.

>"If you can't impress people, at least try to pi$$ them off" Two
>points if you can name the author.

I can certainly think of a few people who have that attitude. :) :)
