HMs and other loose ends:

Has anybody (Leah? Mindy? both?) contacted Hamburger Mary's and let them
know we are planning to invade them for HH and dinner on Tuesday evening,
April 22? I seem to recall that one of you has said something about this
but I can't seem to find the the mailing or notes about it. Thanks.

Headcount for this as of this minute and second is 58, but signups
trickle in and will until DLV. Even with a 20% fallout from that number,
that's still 46 bodies to seat and feed.
. . . . .

Speaking of HM's, Michelle, I assume you have some kind of standing
reservation with them on Thursday. It might be a good idea to give them
a heads up as to the larger group that evening. Potentially you have the
entire DLV group minus those who are going to the show. I'm sure not
100% of the non-showgoers will show up, but that a good percentage of
them will. 45 are currently signed up for the show, but I expect all
49 to be taken. That will give you potentially 60 or so, and if only
half of them show up, it will be a crowd of 30.
. . . . .

It looks like we now have 4 proposals for Wednesday replacement:

1. Ginger's proposal for Hard Rock Cafe.

2. Cat's proposal for Nick's. (Italian, south Strip area)

3. Kate's proposal for Carluccio's.

4. Tina's proposal for Freezone.

I am not submitting the Eating Out Night suggestion as a proposal here,
since it would require quite a bit more coordination and more volunteers
than any of the above.

If there are any more, please send them in. We want to wind down the
discussion on this and vote as of Wednesday next week.

Taxi and dinner:

>I still have not heard from Taryn, unless it was an unknown number I
>missed last night while at dinner. I will leave another message today.
>If I get no response then, I would suggest just giving the company
>number and people can request Taryn. I doubt anyone will get her
>unless she happens to need a fare and is in the immediate area.

Thanks. I think it's best if you don't get a positive response that
we just kill that listing. I can see people blowing off an activity
if they think they can get her to drive and can't.

>As far as dinner, I was not suggesting a more upscale dinner, simply
>giving information on the places that I go and enjoy. If anyone might
>be looking for "nicer" places to go, or if dinner on Wednesday ends up
>being broken up to smaller groups, then these are possible
alternatives.

>I have no doubt that at least 50%+ would not be willing to spend $40-50
>for Wednesday dinner.

>The only other places I take in from time to time are buffets at the
>Belagio and Rio and smaller local oriental and Hispanic restaurants
>that do not have facilities for large groups.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
HW and VGW:

>Hidden Woman will be open daily from 11:00am to approx 7:00pm, later
>depending on appts. if need be, and will be closed on Sundays.

>Makeovers can be scheduled for Sundays and Leona will make sure herself
>or someone is there to accommodate anyone looking for services. If
>anyone needs to pickup their things on Sunday they can contact me and I
>will get them over to their hotel. I will have to work that day so it
>will be sometime in the evening or possibly early Sunday morning when I
>can do this.

>They will also offer a blanket 10% discount to DLV attendees during the
>entire week.

>Still trying to get over to Vegas Wigs....maybe next week.

Tango Uniform. I'll put in the mailing that if people need to pick up
things on Sunday, arrangements can be made.

Wednesday Night Activity and Dining Suggestion:

Tina writes:

>As I make this suggestion, some people may think I've had a slight
>brain blip, given my past attitude about this place.

>Also, remember that I don't have the greatest on-time record for
>dinner.

Well, we can always do like we do at Pinkfest, make the reservation for
7:00 and tell you it's at 6:30. :) :) :) :)

>But, I do make the serious suggestion that we consider having Wednesday
>Happy Hour and Dinner at FreeZone. They have dining tables and a
>moderately priced menu (see http://www.freezonelv.com/menu.htm for
>items and prices), are open from 6 PM to 2 AM for dining, they
>obviously have drinks (so no move after Happy Hour), and some local LV
>people report that they are again t-friendly. (I would definitely like
>to see some more of our local DLV girls check this out again.)

LOL! "Big Ass BBQ Chicken Pizza $6.95"

>There are other advantages to FreeZone. Overflow diners can go across
>the street and eat at the fun little Italian place next door to
>Sasha's. (Annie, what's it called? I've only eaten there once, but
>isn't it the famous rubber chicken place?)

That would be Milano's. (One of the best kept secrets in Lv.)

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2003/maps/a25r22.jpg

This will be the first year since 1999 that we haven't had a group
eating there. First place we've outgrown. We totally buried it in
2002 for the Pre-DLV dinner.

>And since FreeZone is right across the street from Sasha's, if Sasha's
>is still open and going strong, we can make a last minute switch back
>without too much trouble. Also, Wednesday night is not Ladies Night
>(according to FZ Web site), so we shouldn't get as much hassle from
>the lesbians. And FZ is relatively close to Goodtimes, so not much of
>a hop for those going on to karaoke. And Freezone will be new to many
>DLV girls.

>And, if you decide to split into separate groups for Wednesday dinner,
>FZ is also pretty close to the HRC. (Personally, I'm not enamored with
>the Hard Rock and would probably skip dinner there, regardless of
>whether it was the Cafe or Casino. No negative experience there. I
>was one of those who crashed into it really late one night several
>years ago. I was so drunk, hence the courage, that I have no clue as
>to whether anybody stared at me or not. IIRC that was the year of my
>first DLV and we went there after dancing at FZ when we were the only
>ones in the place and we didn't get hassled that year. It was the time
>I wore that horrid white blouse with the electric cobalt blue skirt
>and the white platform heels and the really limp hair. If people
>didn't stare, then they were blind.

>God, can't we please lose those pictures!!!!)

If you're referring to photos on the DLV site, yes, you can
retroactively veto them. Just send in the numbers.

>One negative thing - I do expect that we might have to eat in shifts at
>FZ. Their photos only show about 12 or so tables. Of course, with no
>showtime to meet, we might not be in a hurry. Biggest downside to FZ
>is parking (they have some, but never enough). Local DLV girls: if
>Sasha's closes, will there be more parking across the street where she
>is/was?
