Various items:
Looks like I will definitely be in Las Vegas on business in December.
Most likely will arrive Sunday the 15th and depart the following Friday.
I do want to get people together, so I'll send out some ideas as the
date approaches.
. . . . .
Hotels - As of this time the Boardwalk has not been nominated for
consideration as one of our suggested hotels. If anybody wants to see
this one go to the vote, please send it in. We have about 3 weeks until
the vote is taken.
. . . . .
Daytime - I would like to ask for a volunteer. We need somebody, most
certainly local, who would be willing to touch base with and keep in
touch with the three merchants who have expressed interest in having
some kind of an "open house" for DLV this coming year, and coordinate
the timing. I think that it's very important that we treat all of them
equally and fairly with regard to exposure and access to our people.

I'm sure they will agree to any reasonable wishes of the organizers and
the participants. I'm sure they will get more than enough who will
volunteer to pose for them.

We have Flex down for Club Girl Talk on Thursday, assuming CGT stays at
that location and time.
I agree that it would be a good one for either the Pre-DLV (let's start
calling this the Welcome Celebration, ok?) and/or the farewell thing.
Do we wanna pencil this in for those, or do we want to consider other
places for one or the other of them? Do you think that three evenings at
Flex (Welcome, CGT, Farewell) would be too much? Any other suggestions
for these?
>Another Tuesday later night option is the alternative dance nite at

Might be a good option after the welcome thing. I'm gonna take the
liberty of penciling that in on the schedule.

Shopping:

I'm sure there is interest, and I'm sure you will get people who will
go. Historically our shopping things are not heavily attended (same as
other mainstream daytime activities) but there have always been people
who go on these.

The only suggestion I'll make is that you consider timeslots other than
Sunday morning. I think your turnout will be much higher if you do it
either on a weekday morning/afternoon or Saturday afternoon, or even a
bit later on Sunday.
Saturday night at DLV is often a late one. The show gets out around
midnight and I'm sure many of the people will have a drink (or more than
one) afterwards. For many of the people, to be ready to leave by 10:30
or 11, they have to wake up 7:30-8:00, and that ain't gonna happen on
Sunday morning, for many of them, that is.
Leaving LV shortly after 11 puts you into Primm around 11:45. Figure an
hour or so to do brunch, then at least two hours shopping. That makes it
about 3:00pm. Then plan for one hour of get-everybody-together and back
to LV about 4:00. That's a bit late for High Tea (assuming those who
want to do it will change) or for most anything that afternoon.
I would suggest you consider either some weekday or even Saturday for
this instead of Sunday. Weekday mornings are not usually as groggy for
our people, and Saturday morning seems to be not as bad as Sunday.

Yeah, his voice is always gone 'cuz he keeps having dental work just

Hopefully not. :) I think this is one thing that will not really appeal
to the dress-till-you-drop crowd. Bowling is one of the things that I am
not very good at that I still enjoy doing, so I'll definitely be in for
it. I'm sure others will as well, and it will make a good daytime
activity.

Actually, it looks like Retro Night may die a quick death due to lack
of interest.

I think we're also doing a good job of considering all the factors we
discussed such as minimizing moving, considering travel and parking,
etc.

1:00pm Hidden Woman Open House possibility
We will have 3 weekday afternoons, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and
have 3 vendors who have indicated that they want to do some kind of open
house thing, HW, GB, and Vegas Girl Wigs.
I think that it's safe to say that something will be two-tracked against
each of these. Golf will be Thursday or Friday, Swimming (and SBS?) will
be another, then there's the bowling thing.
Then there's the SO luncheon, which won't really affect much of the
above, but will have to be scheduled.

Yes, it's possible, of course. I get the feeling that many of the people
(those not doing the Improv thing) will remain at Sasha's for the show
that evening and hang around there until they either migrate to Goodtimes
or scatter to the winds.
I guess you could designate some of that time as SBS, but I don't know how
long the entertainment typically lasts at Sasha's (anybody know?) and I'm
sure you will want things relatively quiet for SBS.

> LIMO TOUR TO FOLLOW, IMO
I do think that is the best time for the limo tour.
I also realized that Club Girl Talk does not start until 9:00pm now, so
it looks like the show and CGT will be parallel options. Historically,
not everybody has gone to the non-Saturday show, so there will be a good
group left for CGT.
One thing that might work here is to have the limos pick up at two
locations, one being the show site, and the other being Flex to get the
CGT people. Comments?

> What happened to the mall crall?
Nothing. No real definite plans. Kate has volunteered to coordinate a trip
to the Primm Valley Mall. See above (or below).
>Also another possible two-track for the SBS Social (Noon to 4pm?)
I think that's a possibility for those who want an inside social thing
for Saturday afternoon.

give us some ideas of what kind of coverage you have planned?

Since we're a vacation and not a convention, and have an advertising
budget of zero (in fact our total budget for DLV is zero), display ads
are not an option for us. I think you will be surprised at the
difference between DLV and the FanFair/SCC/Fall Harvest/Be-All model.
You might want to take a look at the Diva Las Vegas web site at
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/ as it goes back several years into the
history of DLV. I would in particular suggest the following URLs:
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2003/2003faq.html (FAQ)
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2003/expect/ (what to expect)
Those will give you a good overview of what DLV is about.
