Air tours and such:

Ok, thanks. Do you want to pick a day this far out (thus reserving the
timeslot) or wait until later and see where it fits? Remember that this
can easily be a two-track thing, so reserving the date will not lock
other things out.

Uh, I take it that means you will not be staying at the IP, huh? :)

Checking quickly with Travelocity (looks like they are booking that far
in advance), they are showing Bellagio for $259 on the weekdays, and
$300-ish on the weekends, so I'm sure you could probably get about $200
on the weekdays if you look around a bit and pounce on it when it shows
up at one of the booking websites.

Ok, so noted. I'm hearing you say that it ain't broke, so don't fix it.

Activity notes:

Local people, can you please do us a favor? When you're in Hidden Woman
and Glamour Boutique, can you please check to see if they want to again
have afternoon open house sessions this coming year. I know that Vegas
Girl wants to have something like that this coming year, and if HW and
GB want to as well, that's our three weekday afternoons. We can
multitrack those if needed, but I'm sure each shop would prefer they
were the only open house type thing that day.
. . . . .

I'm putting Club Girl Talk on the schedule for Wednesday evening, since
it only occurs on Wednesday. Michelle, am I correct that it's 8:00pm?

Also, should we schedule a dinner there earlier that evening, with maybe
even a happy hour before? This would make three activities without a
move for that evening. Comments?

Michelle, this probably would not require any more legwork on your part,
just a mention to Sasha's that they should expect more than their
regular Wednesday dinner crowd. I'm sure our group won't bury the place
on a weekday evening.

One item hanging:

Here's one item I dropped the ball on big time, and to those involved I
sincerely apologize. :(

As you may remember, I (among others) was a bit upset at the poor
showing at our slumber party, especially since the people who put it
on took a big bath and went thru a lot of effort to make it happen.

At the time, I spoke to LeeAnna and Cindy, the two who took the soaking,
and we agreed that we would send out a bitch-o-gram to those who signed
up for the slumber party, explaining that they put out a lot of effort
and money, and it was wasted due to the fact that many of the people did
not show.

We agreed that the suggested restitution and absolution would be a $20
donation to the appropriate local AIDS project or GLBT resource center.

Anyway, after DLV I got distracted with other issues, and since the
draft of the bitch-o-gram was on my old laptop, which has since died, it
wasn't here in the directory demanding attention, and I admit I totally
spaced it off. :(

Question (primarily to LeeAnna and Cindy, but others are welcome to
comment): Do we want to go ahead with the bitch-o-gram?

Comments?

Girl Talk story:

Laura writes:

>Not much feedback yet on the story for LadyLike mag.

I would interpret that as good news. I thought it was well-written and
gets the story told well.

>Is it five or six limos?

I think it was 5, but I can't swear to it. IMAO, this is a picky detail
that's no big whoop if it's off by one.

>Only use the word trannies for variety, one runs out of synonyms.

Since I've been involved with the community (not to show my true age,
but it's been a few years), there has been no agreement on our jargon
and lexicon, and I doubt if there will be for the next several hundred
years. I would go with it the way it is. Personally I don't think this
is a big enough issue to change anything.
. . . . .

>Here's the article for Girl Talk for review. Used a different beginning

>pieces, though the content is the same.

>Once everyone has had their say about both stories they can be

>Draft of article for Girl Talk magazine

+Tgirls are Divas in Las Vegas

+In selecting Sasha's as a Club Girl Talk venue, Naomi and local hostess
+Michelle Cassidy have made a superb choice. Sasha's was very popular
+with the ladies at Diva Las Vegas (DLV) 2002 this past spring. We held
+a wonderful dinner, featuring excellent food and Michael Cagle's
+entertaining tunes, at Sasha's on the Friday night of this sixth annual
+en femme vacation in the 24-hour city. And the excellent show at
+Sasha's kicked off the late-night Vegas club tour on Saturday night.
+Several gals also dropped by this fun bar after the first DLV event,
+dinner at Milanos, the evening DLV kicked-off, before heading over to
+Flex for the first party. Sasha is a gracious hostess and one of the
+DLV organizers, Mindy, is among the stars of her show.

+Just Be You in 2002, the theme of DLV, aptly described the biggest and
+best holiday yet, April 30 to May 5, 2002. The six-day en femme
+vacation afforded both rookie and veteran transgendered people with
+loads of fun and many chances to let loose the woman within.

+Over 80 TGs, SOs and a handful of admirers were on hand for one or more
+of the lengthy roster of activities and events. The DLV gang came from
+across the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska, and one girl
+even traveled to Vegas all the way from New Zealand. There was also a
+contingent of a half-dozen trannies and an SO from Ontario, Canada.

+DLV doesn't fit the mold when it comes to TG get-togethers. This is no
+convention -- never has been, never will be. Ladies come to DLV for the
+duration or a single day, even a solitary event; whatever fits their
+time and budget constraints. There's no national, regional or local TG
+organization behind DLV. You need to register in advance but there’s no
+fee. Organizers, a bunch of volunteers from all over who use email to
+plan a great time for all, promote DLV as a vacation and that's what it
+is.

+DLV girls select from a buffet of events and activities what appeals
+most to them. While the schedule is busy, there is plenty of open time
+slots for striking out on your own or with a small group of old and
+new-found friends. To help with spare time plans, DLV organizers have
+a comprehensive list of T-friendly eateries, shops, and clubs. A week
+or so before your vacation en femme you need to register for the things
+you want to do but that's mostly so the organizers can give shops, bars
+and restaurants an indication of how many people to anticipate. You
+only pay in advance for a sprinkling of events where tickets must be
+bought and then mostly after you are in Vegas.

+Roughly 50% of the 2002 DLV gals were relatively inexperienced at going
+out dressed and for them, you couldn't pick a better city to become
+accustomed to tripping the light fantastic in heels. Vegas is renowned
+for being over-the-top in a myriad of ways, so a large group of girrrls
+doesn't cause a commotion. Perhaps the other tourists viewed the DLV as
+merely another Vegas attraction or performers in one of the shows. DLV
+features fun to suit every pocketbook and level of Tgirl experience,
+from safe Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Transgender hot-spots to the slightly
+daring endeavor of going to big resorts hotels and local shopping
+outlets. To assist newbies, there's a big sister operation and DLV
+ladies with vehicles volunteer to drive sisters to the many places
+around the city where events and activities are held. Unlike lots of
+TG events that are held in a single hotel or small community, turning
+the gathering into simply a larger closet, DLV attendees go and stay
+anywhere and everywhere. It’s close to impossible for a neophyte TG t
+leave DLV and not have blossomed significantly.

+DLV had something for everyone, as this smorgasbord of festivities
+attests:

+.Local drag stars took to the stage at both Sasha's and Flex and
+Goodtime was the setting for karaoke. These and other popular local
+night were also used for mixing and mingling and there was a circuit of
+clubs, such as Gipsy and the Las Vegas Lounge, the gals hit to shake,
+rattle and roll on dance floors; ***

+.Major stage shows at the MGM Grand and Riviera;

+.Spirits were high for a three-hour tour in six limos of ritzy strip
+hotels and a visit to old downtown Las Vegas;

+.The refined Four Seasons Hotel was perfect for High English Tea on
Sunday afternoon;

+.Another Sunday afternoon outing was a tourist excursion to see the
+amazing scenery of nearby Fire Valley;

+.A local TG opened her suburban Vegas home for a weekday afternoon
+pool party;

+.One of the strip resorts held a reception and gaming-instruction
+session for DLV gals and during their holiday most of the trannies
+found out if wearing women's clothes brought them extra luck at the
+slots and tables at their own hotel;

+.There was a slumber party in a private suite at a Vegas’Residence
+Inn;

+.Many of the girrrls saw their scores improve hitting their drives off
+the ladies tees at the annual DLV golf tournament;

+.There was a private luncheon at an English pub for SOs;

+.Besides dining at Sasha's and Milanos, there were DLV group dinners
+at the Palace Station resort's buffet restaurant and popular Hamburger
+Mary's.

+It’s a very busy vacation; only the most energetic try to tackle
+everything. The pace of DLV is one reason many girrrls arrive a day or
+two before the start or stay a few days after; they need time to
+rest-up for their holiday or time to recover from it.

+DLV organizers recommended a trio of Vegas strip hotels -- the Sahara,
+Imperial Palace and Boardwalk to the large group of ladies, but they
+also put together a comprehensive guide to all the hotels that welcome
+TGs, from the very economical to five and six-star resorts. The ladies
+were at hotels from one end of Vegas to the other.

Thanks, Laura. Looks great to me. I'm gonna have a friend proof-read it
for a second opinion, and I'm sure some of the people here will have
some comments as well.

A few very picky comments here, which you can choose to use or ignore. :)

1. For the past year or so, I've been trying to standardize, in my own
writing at least, on the term "event" to refer to DLV as a whole and the
term "activity" to refer to the various goings-on at DLV. Although there's
no ambiguity in your article above, there has been in various writings in
the past, including my own.

2. Although it's grammatically incorrect, I always omit the closing period
of a sentence that ends with a URL. Reason is that many newsreaders and
mail clients and such will make a link out of it and the trailing period
will usually cause a click on it fail.

3. Sentence at *** seems to have some syntax problems, possibly even a
line missing from a word processor or mailing error.

As I said, picky. :)

Already had you down for that one. :)

Ok, so noted, you are on the list. :)

Ok, thanks. Got that down too.

>depending on interest we might be able to do the pool party again..

I'm sure there will be at least some interest. It was rated highly.

>as far as a bar crawl i will be willing to set up the bars and maybe
>the transportation but need somebody to do the t-shirts or blouses.

Well, I could do that, but I'm holding off on volunteering for it until
I'm sure the benefit/effort ratio will be high. Personally, I think a
pub crawl without tie-in attire might be better. Let's face it, DLV
people like to do their own thing and wear what they want when they
want.

I'll put the pub crawl down on the list as well.

Now, for you and Diane, do you want to pick timeslots for any of these
activities now or do you want to hold off? Things can always be changed,
but it might be best to get some things on the slate so others can be
planned around them.
