Org List:

This is the DLV Organizational List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com) Replies to this
message will be forwarded to the DLV ORG list and not the main DLV list.

Boats and planes and heels:

>>Densie, Gina, for air tours, is that the same? No charge, but
>>donations will be appreciated?

>No charge, and you can make a donation if you have a guilt complex about
>getting stuff for free...otherwise it's really not necessary.

Ok, thanks. I'll get that on the list.

>>>So, if anyone is there early or late or just wants to make a side trip
>>>to Lake Meade, we're going to be cruising, skiing, bobbing, and maybe
>>>farting, if we can find a farter by then. The boat is comfortable with
>>>six people in it.

>>Do you want to do this informally, or schedule something on the calendar
>>and take sign-ups?

>I'm easy. I'll just go along with what everyone else wants to do.

My suggestion is to put this on the schedule for Thursday afternoon. I
know space will be very limited, but some may be interested in doing
this, and they may not get that many chances to ski en femme.

Slumber Party:

>Hi from LeeAnna! The slumber party does not have a charge attached to
>it.... BUT donations will be VERY appreciated at the event. I will have
>a "KITTY" there for the donations.

Ok, thanks. That's kinda what I figured.

I was gonna move the rest of this over to the main list, but seein' as
how it's getting long and drawn out for this week, I'll hold it for
either next week or mid week, depending on how much traffic comes in.

Here it is so everybody on this list can see it now:

>Liquid Refreshments .... if any of the girls coming to the "sleepover"
>have a favorite drinkie-poo they need to bring it. There will be a few
>items I will have (champagne, white wine, beer, bloody marries in the
>morning...etc) they're for everyone but I doubt it will be enough to
>support 30 Happy Girls all night.... giggle

>Food is taken care of. More munchies than you can shake a Eye Lash
>Curler at!

>We have enough activities to do that we will not get to all of them.
>PLUS, the chit chat and pic taking will fill a BUNCH of time
>themselves...:+) After all, Girls Just Want To Have Fun (thank you
>miss Lauper)... and this is the place for it.

>Dress Code..... Any PJ, Night Gown, BabyDoll, Nighty, Lingerie combo is
>fine. Try to be a bit modest at least for the first hour....lol
>Everyone will be able to change at the party so your gowns and dresses
>are ok to come to the party in.

>I am afraid that this will be a NO GUY CLOTHES, NO GUY MODE event.....
>no guy mode until time to leave .....in the morning I hope, but I know
>some will leave earlier.

Ok, note for the dress suggestions of "girlmode required". :)

>Any SO (GG or MALE ) are welcome as long as the dress code above is
>followed and they are part of the original 30 headcount.

>Noise.... I am afraid that the room we have is second floor.... so
>noise is a bit of a concern to the surrounding rooms. There is a
>second floor in the room.... I think we can safely use that area for
>dancing and twister and such with no noise problem....

>The doors will open at 10PM and close at 11am... fun will be had by all.

>OH YES, I almost forgot..... Please bring a tube of your favorite
>BRIGHT RED lipstick, your makeup bag, any facials (can't have a slumber
>party without a facial), etc..... Want your hair put up... bring hair
>and rollers.....:+)

I'm sure everybody realizes that "slumber party" is an oxymoron. :)

>This Is A Non-Smoking event. There sould be a outside porch area for
>those that need the FIX.

>The "Swap-A-Garter" <rt> (swap meet) will have a corner to put things
>at. Please plan on marking your items with price and name so we
>Blonds-For-A-Day can figure out the fine print....:+)

>Hope this answers many questions.... please ask if there are anymore.

Thanks, Leeanna. This will most likely appear in the main list sometime
next week.

Luna, Galiano, publicity:

Leah writes:

>Everything with Luna is worked out......we will have a special menu
>with a beef item, chicken, and vegetarian to try and cover all the
>bases. Price fixe at $20 per head or less including tip and soda etc.

>I ate there last night and the food was very good as well as the show.

Ok, thanks. Luna it is. I'll get that on all of the items here.

>One amendment to the G.I. (Galliano Issue).......in searching the
>liquor laws we cannot bring drinks over from ICON to Luna so if anyone
>wants something other than beer or wine they can get it at ICON but
>have to drink it there. Being off strip they are not covered by the
>law that allows public drinking on the strip.

They once told me (the ubiquitous "they") that it still was not legal
to actually drink on the Strip, but that they had just relaxed the
regulations to allow you to carry a drink or container from one
place to another.

I know they are very strict about that around here. A couple weeks ago
I began to leave a local casino carrying a cup of soda, nothing in it
other than Coca Cola, and the guard stopped me and made me finish it
right there.
. . . . .

>I saw Kelli from OUT magazine there and she would like to publish our
>schedule and make some announcements for DLV in the May Issue. I am
>not sure where we stood on that so could you let me know if it's OK to
>give her the info? Thanks.

This one has to be a group decision.

Personally, I think some general announcements would be great, but I
don't want to see them publish details such as times and locations.

I would much prefer that those interested contact us thru the web site
(which I would encourage them to list) and register.

Comments on this one, gang?

Heels:

(I woulda used the name of that Traffic tune for the title here, but
Densie beat me to it. :)

I knew something like this had come up before, and I did a search. If
you want to see, check out a mailing to this list that came out last
September. It was right after the attack, so people may have had their
minds on things other than dlv ...

http://www.geekbabe.com/annie/org02arc/0019.html

It was written by a different person than the one who wrote this recent
one.

But anyway ...

I agree that this is an unusual subject. However, I have faith that this
group can discuss it an that we can reach a consensus, probably without
taking a formal vote.

Let's look at some issues regarding this ...

On one hand:

1. I hate to exclude.

2. We've agreed since day one that we will not discriminate and that
anybody who identifies with the theme of DLV and who agrees to dress and
act as a lady or gentleman (or both at times) is welcome to participate.

3. We've stated over and over that we do not have a dress code for DLV.

4. M and F shoe styles do cross over somewhat. (But I don't think that's
what they have in mind. <semi grin>)

5. Who looks that closely at shoes!

6. There are SOME venues and activities where mixed-mode might be
appropriate.

On the other hand:

1. We agreed last summer that "partial crossdressing" is not appropriate
for DLV.

2. We've also agreed since day one that DLV is gender-oriented and not
sexually-oriented.

3. There are pragmatic and practical considerations, particularly
regarding those who are new/nervous/unsure, and with the issue of the
attention this will bring to the group.

4. There is a time and place for everything, and DLV may not be the
appropriate time or place.

5. We have to draw the line somewhere.

6. Discomfort has already been expressed by one of our people.

It's been my experience that groups will self-regulate, meaning that
those who don't fall within the group's purpose will have little
interest in joining. I've always considered it to be a Bad Thing<tm>
that t* groups frequently (used to) discriminate against those who
are not avowedly het and those who lean toward the TS side of the T*
spectrum. It is extremely rare that a few Bad People, whoever they
may be, will crowd out all the Good People, whoever they may be,
of any group.

The focus of DLV is transgender. We get people from all over the
t* spectrum, but most of the area under the bell curve seems to be
classical crossdresser and the serious part-timer. I've even been
known to comment that having a few people such as hardcore drag
queens and admirers adds a bit of spice to the stew, so to speak.

The stated purpose of DLV has always been to "celebrate life and enjoy
each other's company", you know, Vacation Not A Convention and such.
Implied in the way we do things, is a secondary purpose to support the
individual in their chosen gender role, and the T* community as a whole.

But to get to a point ...

I don't see heel afficionados clearly falling within the T* spectrum.
(My opinion here.) I don't have anything against them, and I would not
have any objection to my daughter marrying one, assuming of course that
I had a daughter. :) This particular paraphilia does not fall within
the bounds of the purposes of DLV.

We also have a precedent which was set last year, regarding promoting
DLV outside of T* circles. A general-intereste Las Vegas news site
(Tripshark, since closed) offered to give us a link from their page
to the DLV page. We respectfully declined, stating that general Las
Vegas vacation-goers were not our intended audience.

>For concensus purposes, I would vote to certainly allow them to
>participate in DLV if they like but with some reservations.....
>actually with alot of reservations meaning that it would be preferred
>if they did not wear heels and just attended in a standard male garb.

What I'm gonna suggest is something along this very line. That we
respond stating that anybody who identifies with the theme etc., is
welcome to attend, but that we are not going to encourage the promotion
of DLV through media that are not primarily aimed at the T* community as
a whole. Along with that, a note that DLV people are asked to please
dress in a manner appropriate to the time, place and circumstance of
each activity. (Hey, nobody's gonna have a cow if somebody wears a
sportshirt, dress pants, and F.M. pumps to Gipsy, but for some of the
more mainline venues, it might be very uncool to do so.)

Pool and such:

>we will have burgers and maybe dogs,,, beer and wine.. bring a side and
>anything else you would like to drink.. also bring a towle if you can..
>we dont have 25 *LOL*

Ok, thanks. I'll get that on the list.

>also would like to start getting a count on those interested and as
>well a count on those wanting to attend the tea..

Next week when we send out the activity headcount thing, both will be
on this. We'll post summaries here as the responses come in.
