Once again:
Lots of traffic. Good commentary. Sending out early ...
I apologize if some duplicate mailings of this went out. The batch
process was interrupeted at the beginning of its first run, so some
duplicates may have gone out.

Dressing, planes, and stuff:
>>>Don't you feel strange going into a restraunt dressed?
>>{Biting tongue avoiding the worn-out "nudity is illegal" joke.} <g>
>>Some of the people were a bit nervous going out at first, but that
>What!!!!? we can't go nude into resaurants in Vegas?!!! Ohhhh.
>Nooo fuuun! Well Hmph!! If Godiva can do it so can I!!!
Uh, there is a nude beach in the area. (Finding it will be an exercise
for the student. :)
>LOL seriously though let me know if there is anything I can do on a
>limited amount of off time.
There will be many things that you (and others) can do to help out,
both before and during. We'll talk about this when the main list
starts up, but one thing that can be done, even this far in advance,
is to start spreading the word, to t* groups, newsletters, mailing
lists, websites (like those that list t* events), etc.
>I'll be thinking of neat things we can do for DLV or maybe come up
>with a theme for the T-Shirts. BTW I'll help buy some if you let me
>know early enough how much they are.
IIRC, the people liked the current shirt design, so I was just gonna
revise the dates and change the color scheme. If somebody wants to do
some other artwork, I have no objection ...
>I think I'll get my hair styled and make an attempt to fly out enfemme
>next year. :) What are they gonna do? Throw me out of the plane?
>WHooooaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!
They tell me (the ubiquitous "they"), as long as you have ID that's
visibly recognizable as you, they will say and do very little, if
anything.
>Just depends on work and my intestinal fortitude.
Well, imao, getting on a plane takes far less than going into a 7-11
at 0-dark-30 and begging to use the (employees only) restroom. :)

Questions:
>question, which is the most popular hotel the crowd stays at
In the past, the more popular places have been Imperial Palace,
Stardust, Sahara, and a few others. I'm sure there will be much talk
about hotels once the regular list starts up, around the first of the
year.
One person is checking into the possibility of group rates at some of
the places that have been popular with our group. We probably won't
know until after the first of the year whether that is an option or
not.
>and where are we meeting?
I'm not sure exactly what you mean there, but I'll try to answer.
If you mean where will we have our introductory kick-off meeting, unless
things change somewhat drastically, it will most likely be at the Good
Times Lounge, a low-key and very t-friendly place.
If you mean where will we be gathering for the various events during
our stay, everywhere and anywhere. :)
There is also somebody looking into the possibility of a reserved
meeting room for us, but concensus has said that something like this
will not be used in lieu of the on-the-town places for our events.

Country:
>Question here. Are there any up-scale Country-Western type places
>that will let us in?
There are supposedly a couple of them, but I haven't been to any.
(I'm not into CW, but one of my favorite places for people-watching is
a CW place here in Omaha.) One is supposedly in the same neighborhood
as Keys, a popular DLV98 and DLV99 hangout, and there's another west
of the Strip on Jones or Arville or something.
>Would the people even be interested
>in this?
Probably so. I would go, and I'm sure others would as well.
Anybody who is local know more about these places?

Bars and clubs:
>>>Clubbing-- Gypsy and Angles are only worth going to late Friday or Sat.
>>>evenings.
>>Friday and Saturday will (obviously) be the most crowded, but we saw
>>some good crowds at Angles/Lace and Freezone (across the street) on
[snip]
>Stupid question here: Are these places that are open to the public
>or reserved or what? Private clubs?
These are regular open-to-the-public places. Angles/Lace and Freezone
do cater to the GLBT crowd, although many of the places we go cater
to the tourists and public in general.
>Is it really safe to be doing this?
Safe to be doing what? All the places we go are well-lit,
well-attended, and the areas are well-patroled. Nobody is breaking
any laws, and the places we frequent appear to want our business.
Comments? Anybody see anything unsafe about DLV?

Pushing the envelope:
(Somewhat edited)
>>>Do you go to
>>>these dressed, and right out in the open, or do you make some kind

>>Yes, this was "right out in the open"

>Not to rain on your parade, Annie, but if you guys keep this up,
>somebody is eventually going to push things a bit too far and
>end up getting teased in public, beat up, arrested or worse.
I will say this. If somebody (our people or anybody) goes looking for
trouble, they will most certainly find it, in Las Vegas or in any other
community. For example, if one of our people would intentionally
overdress, seek out a red-leaning townie bar, and go there with the
intent of flaunting t*ism, trouble will follow.
However, fortunately (I hope, anyway), DLV does not attract those
whose style is in-your-face confrontation.
>You
>keep going on and on about how this thing you've got is such a
>bed of roses and you're perfectly accepted and all that. I've been
>going out en-femme too long to know that some people will tease
>you and some places will refuse to serve you, if not throw
>you out.
Yes, I keep going on about it, because it's true. There have been
no incidents whatsoever that were demeaning or threatening, period.
(If anybody who has been there disagrees, hit REPLY and speak up.)
What we do tell everybody is to please be a lady, don't overdress,
don't hang around in large groups, don't joke around and act like, uh,
for lack of a better term, men. As long as we use common sense and
don't do anything stupid, risks of an incident are minimal.

Off-Topic:
I know this is off topic, but several copies of this have come in yet
again addressed to this list.
Ladies (gentlemen, those yet undecided), there is no such thing as an
e-mail tracking program that will track e-mail sent by the usual
methods. Ain't no way for something like that to work, period.
If you receive any of hundreds of variants of this offering incredible
rewards for simply forwarding e-mail, please resist the temptation to
do so.
Bottom line is, no, you will not win a trip to Disneyworld, free Gap
clothes, a free Honda Civic, thousand dollar bill, M&M's, gift
certificates, or other mutations simply by forwarding an e-mail to
everybody in the known universe.
Nor will you get your name in Guinness, nor will some billionaire save
Dear Jessica Mydek, nor will Bill Gates send you PC's for life, nor
will some unnamed philanthropist donate to the Cancer Society.
I suggest one of two actions if you receive these:
1. Delete it and forget about it.
2. Send a brief polite note to the sender (PLEASE, PLEASE use the
"reply to sender" or "reply to individual" and not "reply to all" or
"group reply" here) stating that this is a well-known hoax and that
numerous citations on this hoax are available.
A very good source for information on this and other faxlore,
scarelore, and netlore is a site operated by the San Fernando Valley
Folklore Society:
Look under the heading of "Currently Circulating" for the more recent
variants of this chain letter.
