Clubbing, shopping, staying, driving:
>Clubbing-- Gypsy and Angles are only worth going to late Friday or Sat.
>evenings.
Friday and Saturday will (obviously) be the most crowded, but we saw
some good crowds at Angles/Lace and Freezone (across the street) on
Tuesday.
Besides, anyplace that "ma'am's" one of our people in boymode has to be
great! :) (Yes, this really happened.)
>I would not go shopping at a store reserved exclusively for us. I will
>go shopping with the girls during regular store hours, and love some
>of the thrift shops in Vegas.
I agree that there's no reason not to go to the regular shops in Las
Vegas, either in girlmode or in boymode. As we've said many times
before, your $$$ is as green as anybody's. The salespeoples' primary
concerns will be that you find something you like, so you will buy it,
and that you are happy, so you will come back and spend more $$$$.
I've heard nothing but reports of good experiences from our people,
shopping at everything from Wal-Mart and Target to the outlet mall,
to the mainline malls, to the private shops.
Also keep in mind that Las Vegas is a show town, and a party town. It's
not at all unusual for men to be seen buying womens items, lingerie,
and cosmetics. It's nothing new at all, for the salespeople, and for
the other shoppers.
>Regarding accommodations -- if you stay at a motel, with your car
>outside your door, many girls will find it easier to come and go
>en-femme. There are some nice motels off the strip at very
>reasonable prices.
Yes, some of our people do not like walking thru a crowded casino
or hotel lobby, and these will be an option for them. The place
I used to recommend for this (Stardust) has closed their motel
rooms, but there are others.
Andrea has had good luck with the Westward Ho (the world's largest
motel) on the Strip. Some of the other places will have motel or
"garden rooms" as well as tower rooms. Margeth seems to like the
Imperial Palace, which has a whole motel-type complex behind the
main towers.
>You can rent cars for around $20/day.
Most times, this is true for the "economy" cars, but I know some people
who found the prices around $40 during N+I last year. I've had good
luck in LV with Hertz, Dollar, and National. For the trip in December,
the TA booked me with Affinity, at about $20 per day, so I'll report
back on how that one is.

In public?
>>>A suggestion I would make is to not schedule the shows (Follies,
>>>Splash, Kenny Kerr, whatever) on consecutive days. Break it up a litle
[chomp]
>>Ok, that's a good thing to consider. We did get "showed-out" last year.
>>I think we do wanna schedule one of the popular FI shows and one of the
>>legacy revue-type shows, as requests and comments have shown.
>Pardon if I'm clueless here, but do I hear you right? Do you go to
>these dressed, and right out in the open, or do you make some kind
>of arrangement to have a reserved area away from teh crowd?
At about every event, we had some people in girlmode and some in
boymode, mostly the former. Yes, this was "right out in the open"
with the general public.
>How about eating in restraunts and things like that? Do they look
>at you funny, or don't you do that?
The most attention anybody got was in the form of curious glances.
Although many of the times, people ate on their own, there were a
number of small/medium group meals at such places as Tony Roma's,
the coffee shop at the IP, various hotel buffets, a pizza place off
Paradise, the cafe at Hard Rock, etc. Almost always it was a mix of
those in girlmode and boymode (mostly girlmode :).
Pics on the web will confirm that yes, for the past three years, our
people went almost everywhere the other tourists went. (See pics on
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/) Three years running (three, count 'em)
without a single incident of refused service, poor(er) service,
harassment, etc.
>Don't you feel strange going into a restraunt dressed?
{Biting tongue avoiding the worn-out "nudity is illegal" joke.} <g>
Some of the people were a bit nervous going out at first, but that
feeling almost always goes away very fast. The only thing I remember
was one person asking me "is it ok to go there like this", as far as
any concern along this line.
Do understand that with very few exceptions, our people dressed not
that differently from other tourists. Attention to time, place, and
circumstance is important if you don't wanna attract attention.

Starting date:
>>>>>If I've got a vote here, I
>>>>>vote to keep it starting on Friday.
>>>I vote for Friday too.
>Me too!
>Here's the point. I know I can't make it before Friday, if I can make
>it at all, and call me selfish, but I don't want to miss out on
>anything major.
Well, the way things are going, it looks like there will be some kind
of a pre-dlv activity, but the focus will be on the weekend.

Follies Behind The Scenes:
>>>5. Behind-the-scenes Follies tour.
>>This would probably be really fun!!! Lots of Photo
>opportunities?
>> Somebody was going to look into this. Anything yet?
>Oh, I've been a bad girl.
Uh, nothing wrong with that. :)
>I've been on this tour before, but I was supposed to call and confirm
>that it was still going on. (I read last year that it was still
>happening.) I *promise* to call and check on this when I get back
>home at the end of next week.
Ok, thanks. Please let us know what you find out. I think there will
be quite a bit of interest in this.
