Notes on this mailing:

Once again, the volume of received material is very high, so I'm sending
this one out midweek.

New URL for main DLV pages:

Major directory cleanup. :) I'm moving all DLV material to its own area
right in the root on the geekbabe.com server. New URL for the DLV tree
is now:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/

I'm installing redirects on the main DLV page and everything that I
know was linked to externally, but there's a chance I've missed
something. If you notice anything that does not load or is dead,
please e-mail me (annie@annie.net) and let me know.

Please adjust your bookmarks and website links accordingly.

As some of you may remember, there was talk of getting our own
second-level domain for DLV. This will also make such a thing much
easier.

Notes on the next couple items:

A few mailings ago, I said I wanted to close the thread on the Red
Rooster club. I still think it is best, but as I think of it, the
closing of the thread, as well as the elimination of Red Rooster
as an "official" DLV activity should not be totally my decision.

Two other items have come in since then, one answering questions I
posed in the list, and another clue-ing me in on a few things about
a culture I've never been exposed to. I think both are sufficiently
"new and enlightening" to warrant printing.

I'd like to handle it this way:

If there are any OBJECTIONS to the CLOSING of this thread, and the
REMOVAL of Red Rooster as a scheduled (but optional, as all are) DLV
activity, please reply with a brief "I Object" message. If one or more
objections come in, we'll let majority (plurality) rule and call for
votes on the issue in e-mail.

Thanks for the feedback. Actually, I admit I know very very little
about this particular scene.

Makeovers, hair, nails, etc.:

... and we have recommendations for just that, a couple of them, in
fact. One of them is over in the Commercial Center, just off Sahara.

Actually, that recommendation did come from some of the locals. We
can pose the question to the local people again right before the event
in case there are any others.

Somebody had that done last year, iirc. Where was that?

Wow, I don't really know what to say here.

You have taken the first step, and made contact with at least part
of the t* community. If you feel like taking another step and joining
us, we will be there for you. At DLV (and almost all other places) it
will be perfectly "ok" if you want to ease yourself in and stay in
boymode for a while while you become more comfortable.

Just remember you are not alone!

Uh, I didn't think I was *that* scary. :)

Knowing somebody in advance always helps in situations like this.

Sometimes we forget that all of us were newbees at one time or another.
All of us went through some rough times, I know, and fortunately most
of us landed with all feet on the ground. We must remember that some of
us are in one stage and some in others, on this great journey.

All of us have to stay in sync to make sure everybody gets the most
they can out of DLV and other activities.
