>As a partial attendee I thought I'd give you some opinions.

We did have a good turnout at the Thursday pre-dlv thing, and also at a
very informal dinner at Tony Roma's before that (no, we didn't
intentionally exclude anybody, somebody just suggested that, and I
notified as many as I had contact with that day) so I think that a
Thursday official start may be in line. Also, the crowds for shows and
such tend to be less on the weekend nights, as well as the traffic.

>Events. Non TG shows such EFX or Splash or... you name it it would have

I agree that a major non-FI show would most likely be a hit with the
group. We do want to keep to the reasonably-priced shows, and iirc,
EFX was a bit steep. Splash or LOTD are more likely within everybody's
price range.

>Shopping. I went out quite a bit and spent time in most of Casino

I don't think anybody had any difficulty with shopping. I watched the
group at both Belz and Boulevard Mall, and nobody seemed to be paying
any attention.

Yes, I agree, our people should not carry guns. <big snotty grin> :)

I agree, and I think most everybody does. In Las Vegas, most everybody
is doing their own thing. Even the people-watchers will just give you
the once-over and move on.

>What more could you ask for?

Uh, walking away from VP $20,000 richer, maybe?

Both of those shows are indeed quite entertaining, even after seeing
them several times. They are both fast-paced, and keep the attention.
I can see some people wanting to see both of them (again, or for the
first time) next year.

Mary Kay feedback:

>Hi! It's Ronnie, your friendly Mary Kay lady.

Hi Ronnie, this is annie, your friendly geekbabe. :)

>Apology accepted by both Beth and myself, though really not necessary.

Thanks. Since you're on the list, you will get a good handle on what
is going on and what the people are interested in.

>A lot of times, it's actually better to do makeovers (for everyday
>looks) in the early morning, say 8 or 9 AM so you can have your face on

Hmmmm..... I never thought of that. Mornings also seem to be quite
slow at DLV (from my perspective anyway :) so those who would like this
might have some free less hectic time one of the mornings.

>I would really like to have the chance to show some of the "shy" girls

Would you mind sending us some of your favorites? Maybe we could have
a thrift-shop tour next year.

Uh, does this mean that Splash is the first scheduled activity
for DLV2000? :)

Comments, gang? How many would be interested in this? Splash is a long-
running LV variety show at the Riviera, and not too pricey.

>Not especially. There's no way I could be a stripper.

Doesn't really interest me either, but this could be optional if there
is some interest and somebody volunteers to do the grunt work to
coordinate it. Those who don't want to do it will have no problem
finding something else to do. :)

Unless we had a large group going from point A to point B, it would
most likely cost more per person than a regular taxi.

What did the rest of you think of the van arrangement? I didn't see any
major problems other than traffic, and having to get a bit cozy in the
back a couple times. I know that a few people regularly rode in the van
who actually had their own cars, so some must have thought it was
convenient.

We do already have a semi-volunteer to drive a second van if necessary
next year, so that is a possibility if everybody thinks it works.

>Also, what's the chance of you getting a block of rooms on a

[Grabbing can of worms and walking toward can opener ...] :)
If somebody (other than me) wants to take the initiative to look into
this, I don't see any problem, however (comma) many of those who
frequent Las Vegas have their favorite places to stay and play, and
frequently get comp (free) or casino rate (reduced) at the places they
play regularly.

Quite honestly, unless this results in a very good rate at a place I
know to be good, I think I would want to make my own arrangements for a
place to stay.

It's been my experience that "group rates" in Las Vegas are much higher
than casino rates and even regular phone-in rates. For the last
Networld+Interop, the "special group rates" at the recommended hotels
were FOUR TIMES what I paid at the Stardust. (No, I am not kidding or
exaggerating.)

If somebody wants to look into this, be my guest, or rather I'll be
your guest. :)

Again, if somebody considers it to be a priority and wants to take
the time and effort to coordinate it, something like this can happen.

Comments? How many would be interested in something like this?

>I think you did a wonderful job with DLV 99 and I hope to get back for
>DLV 2000.

You're very welcome. Yes, we hope to see you (and everybody) for DLV2K.

>I loved the DLV logo and just have to have the T shirt.

Thanks. You can pick up the shirt at DLV2000. :)

Everybody seems to like the design, so I'll just make some minimal
changes such as the dates and a slight variation on the color scheme.

>I'm working on finding out info about the Tropicana Folies tour and
>some of the other ideas I suggested.

Good. Be sure to let us know ASAP what you find out. I have a feeling
the DLV2000 schedule will fill up quite fast once we start plugging
things into it.
