Ready for Activity Sign-Up:

Thanks to those who sent in the final items of information necessary to
roll out activity sign-up. We're happy to report that all blanks were
filled in by last Friday evening. Good job gang! :)

This means that we're now over one big hump on our road to DLV 2018!

Most of you reading this should have received your activity sign-up
email last Sunday. If you did not receive this, please write in and it
can be forced. Please be assured that it's not a snub, it's most likely
that the email you use for this list does not match the email on your
current DLV registration.

The full roll-out of Activity Sign-Up is on target for this weekend!

Activity sign-ups have started to come in, and most everything on the
back end is working properly. We did have one minor back-end issue on
Sunday, and some of you may have seen some debugging output if you tried
it Sunday evening, but it only affected reporting and not recording of
sign-ups. We had one reported erroneous time error, but that is now
fixed.

The automated recording of the BM appointment responses has been tested
and appears to be working fine.

We've had a REAL good response to the sign-up for DLV Group Text so far,
so hopefully this will reach a good percentage of our attendees next
month.

One other item to report (for those who really care) :) is that the test
of an API to automatically populate the cell phone carrier for the DLV
Group Text appears to be working properly. It will be rolled out it
"full auto" later.

If you want to help test this, please go into your Attendee Information
Portal and then to the Communications Options and then to Group Text and
see if your listed cell phone carrier is what you expect it to be.

Please go ahead and sign up for activities. While you do so, please
give the sign-up screen a good look-over, checking for such things
as typographical errors, grammatical errors, factual errors, anything
that looks wonky, error messages, etc.

If you do get an error message, a screen shot would be appreciated.

Last call:

If there are any activities to be added that need a sign-up or a
headcount, they need to be solid, at least as far as DATE, TIME,
LOCATION and COST, by this Saturday, March 24.

Saturday evening is fine, and under the wire. It's trivially easy to
add things before the sign-up mailings go out to the Teeming Millions.
However, Sunday morning is too late.

We have a very strong slate of activities this year. Thanks to all for

Once again with four-part harmony and feeling this time:

We have over 40 activities this year that will require some kind of a
sign-up or headcount. At that volume, it's very possible that human
error or miscommunication has resulted in some errors.

Let's please do one last sanity check on activity capacity limits and
sign-up types so we can catch any errors and hopefully keep any
disappointments to a minimum this year. It's obvious that some of the
activities will fill to capacity and will be in a waiting list state.

If there are any capacity adjustments to be made, particularly in the
downward direction, we want to make them sooner rather than later.

Please look this over. If the capacity is wrong, please scream.

Columns are actvity name, capacity, type of signup, and may or may not
tabulate properly depending on your mail program.

Activities which do not need a sign-up or headcount are not listed.

Very high capacity limits are used where we do not want the activity to
show full in any case.

Annie, EHM admission is only $10 for us. I changed the time from 9 to
11+. Talk with Dr. V tentatively moved to 10:30. Sooner on request.

But, the booze thing is out! EHM will allow it only with a licensed
vendor. With minimums and guarantees, as a first time hostess, I'm not
comfortable with all that.

As u said, drinks r available at the club rite next door.

Please be sure to check things on the schedule and the Activity Sign-Up
screen to be sure everything looks ok.

I took a look at the public EHM pricing schedule, and the normal adult
museum admission is now up to $30, so the $10 price is a very
significant discount from the usual price! :)

Margaretville won't take any reservations and won't seat until the whole
party is here.

But its the second year and last years turn out was good (10) so I
called the manager and pretty sure I can pre-reservations for a table
once we know the head count.

You'll be able to see the running headcount using the link that you
(should have) received last Friday.

The "Total count" line is simply a peg count of those who have signed up
for the activity. The "Estimated turnout" line takes into account the
recent years' show-up and no-show rates, and the "Capacity" line gives
the point at which the "Full" flag will appear, which may or may not
be the actual capacity.

You will see those on the waiting list, if any, on your roster.

When DLV is underway, assuming you have a laptop or smartphone to view
the report, those who have checked in will show their names in green on
your roster, which may help you see who will be showing up and who may
not show.

Are we doing an alternative to late night dancing at Paris and where
would it be if there was one? I did not notice anything on the schedule.

I would be interested in wrapping up a night or two this way but
definitely would not do the dancing with loud music thingy. "Not that
there is anything wrong with that"!. **Wink**.

Yes, it's been re-titled "Late Night Dancing and Socializing" with the
dancing happening at Le Cabaret and the quiet socializing happening
at Gustav's Bar, which is due north of Le Cabaret in the casino.

Activity highlights:

Are you going to periodically post the activity highlight descriptions
in the regular weekly or by weekly mailings?

I think it is about that time and I honestly believe that almost no one
reads the MY DLV Discussion section, so the only place they are going to
find out for sure what is expected of them with regards a suggested
dress code and /or at least a rough guideline as to what a specific
outing is about is to see it in the mailings.

Since late January, one Activity Highlight has been posted in each of
the general mailings and this will continue until shortly before DLV.

Since the Activity Highlights come in faster than the general mailings
go out, the others are posted in the Discussion forum, as "sticky"
messages for a while, and also in a separate Activity Highlight section.

If you ever question if an Activity Highlight (or any other item) in the
Forum is being read, just look at the "Times Read" counters. One of the
oldest Activity Highlights is being held on the main page due to the
consistent number of readings it's still getting.
