Org List:

This is the DLV 2018 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg_at_divalas.vegas)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.

Ahead of schedule:

First of all, thanks to those who answered the call! Friday is starting
to shape up and there are some other items and other potential items for
Friday as well.

Again, all, please give the working schedule at the end of this mailing
a good sanity check. Quite a few additions and changes have been made
since the last mailing and everything is subject to human error.

Also, please be sure to check the capacity counts and signup types for
your activities, below.
. . . . .

The good news is that, at this stage of the cycle, we are well ahead of
where we've been the past few years.

Therefore, it's very possible that over the next 3-4 weeks, we may
indeed skip one or more weekly ORG mailings, depending on if we do or
do not have any time-sensitive items.

What we have to do between now and activity sign-up time in late March
is fill in details of several activities, try to add a few items to
round things out, and get ready for the event.

As the date approaches, it will be very possible that some snags will
arise. In the past, we've seen things like venue closures at very short
notice, and volunteers who were coordinating activities who had family
emergencies and could not make the event.
. . . . .

One rather embarrassing item, it appears that one case of someone
volunteering to host(ess) an activity fell through the cracks and
never made it to the schedule! :(

Both email and humans are not perfect, so please, if you ever send in
anything to the ORG address and do not see any reference to it in a
subsequent ORG mailing, please let us know of the omission, and the
sooner the better!
. . . . .

Bobbie is requesting some feedback on a possible Transpride Prom on
Friday of DLV week. Please see item below and respond as requested.
Thanks.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Laundry list:

Short this week, even with some new items.

Dionne, Katie, Marisa, Michelle? Do you want your phone numbers to
appear on the final detailed schedule? Please let us know one way or
the other.
. . . . .

All, we're again in need of a host(ess) for Lunch With on Friday. This
is one of the easiest! Easy ticket to voting status. For a minimalist
approach, just name a place and agree to be there and welcome the
others.
. . . . .

All, If ZZ Top is going to happen on Friday evening, we'll need someone
to take it on. See below.
. . . . .

All, we're in need for a host(ess) for Late Night Dancing on Tuesday.
. . . . .

Michelle? Any decision on the venue for your Wednesday dinner?
. . . . .

Marisa? Will there be a happy hour in association with the Cornish Pasty
dining option on Sunday? Please let us know on this. Hello? Marisa? Got
yer ears on? :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Activity capacity counts:

If you are not coordinating an activity which needs a sign-up,
headcount, or prepayment, you can safely skip this item.

If you are coordinating one or more such activities, please check the
two lists below to be sure that things are the way you want them. These
have to do with activity sign-up.

The first list shows the capacity limit for your activity. This may or
may not be the actual number that your activity can hold, but it is the
point at which the "FULL" flag will be displayed to those signing up for
activities.

Please look over this list to be sure that the capacity limit for your
activity is what you want it to be.

The "FULL" warning on activity sign-up is now totally automatic and is
set in real time according to the raw peg count of those signed up for
the activity, and "errs on the side of caution" by not taking into
account the show-up and no-show rates.

Therefore, if your activity has a degree of "wiggle room" in capacity,
you can set it at roughly 120% of the actual capacity to take no-shows
into account.

In a few cases (Afternoon Social is a good example) the capacity limit
is set artificially very high, to avoid having the "FULL" warning appear
on the sign-up screen. This is for activities where it can be expected
that the venue and circumstances can handle far more of our people than
will or could sign up.

Anyway, please look over this list, and if you want the point at which
the "FULL" warning is set and waiting list status is assumed, please let
us know.

Schedule review:

Overall, for seven weeks out from the big event, our schedule is looking
very good. No more blindingly glaring sore spots!

Although we do have a good mix of all types of activities, there is one
type of activity that has been very popular with our people and is very
conspicuously missing from this year's schedule. That is one or more
activities at which it is encouraged to dress in more exotic outfits.

EHM has served this need in recent years, but it's appearing doubtful
that EHM will happen for DLV 2018.

If anyone would like to plan something with a relaxed or exotic dress
code, now is the time to do it. If you would like to do something like
this but don't have any ideas on exactly how, where, when, etc., just
say so in a reply to this mailing and we'll offer some suggestions.
. . . . .

One very unusual activity that's being tossed about (pun intended) off
line as a possibility for Wednesday or Thursday is Axe Throwing! Yes,
you read this correctly! If this comes to fruition, it will be one of
the most unusual activities we've ever had in our history!
. . . . .

This may very well be the last of the full schedule reviews for 2018, as
this review mostly points out where additional activities might fit, or
where it "would be nice" but not essential to have more activities or
more options.

Thanks again to all for making this year's planning go as smoothly as
it has! :)
. . . . . . . . . .

+Sunday, April 15:

Sunday morning is still wide open. It's not essential, however, that we
put anything in there. Sunday morning will be the morning of an arrival
day for many and quite a few will be traveling and not yet in their
quarters.

+ 11:00am: Bare Minerals Makeup - All day every day (Bare Minerals FSM)
+ 12:00n: Lunch With Ginger (tba) - ms
+ 2:00pm: On-site DLV check-in (Flamingo) - ms
+ 3:00pm: Afternoon Social (Carnaval Court) - ms
+ 5:00pm: Happy Hour options (various)
+ 5:00pm: Virgil's Happy Hour (Virgil's BBQ - Linq) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Dining options (various)
+ 6:00pm: Cornish Pasty option (Cornish Pasty) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Virgil's BBQ option (Virgil's BBQ - Linq) - ms
+ 8:00pm: Burlesque Revue (Artiface) - ms
+ 10:30pm: Late Nite Dancing and Socializing (Paris Cabaret Lounge)

>From the "It Would Be Nice" department, yes, it would be nice to have
one more dining option for Sunday evening. The two options probably will
not be able to hold all who wish to dine with the group.

Likewise, another evening entertainment or participative option would be
welcomed.
. . . . .

+Monday, April 16:

Monday is one of our days of least concern. It's also an arrival day for
quite a few of our attendees.

The morning is wide open for something recreational or touristy, or
maybe a shopping type of thing, if anyone has a desire to plan it.
Monday morning is expected to be relatively slow.

Monday afternoon still has room for a second-track option, but the LWWAM
will be very strong and will attract a good portion of our in-town
people.

+ 8:00am: Katie's Kozy Koffee Korner (Flamingo Club Cappucino) - ms
+ 11:00am: Bare Minerals Makeup - All day every day (Bare Minerals FSM)
+ 1:00pm: Lunch with Wendy and Michelle (Yardhouse - Linq) - ms
+ 3:00pm: On-site DLV check-in (Flamingo) - ms
+ 5:00pm: New attendee Welcome and Orientation (Bahama Breeze) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Welcome Happy Hour (Bahama Breeze) - ms
+ 7:00pm: Dinner (Bahama Breeze) - ms
+ 8:30pm: Welcome Meet and Greet (Bahama Breeze) - ms
+ 9:00pm: Official Group Photo (Bahama Breeze) - ms
+ 10:30pm: Late Nite Dancing and Socializing (Paris Cabaret Lounge)

Monday evening is solid! :)
. . . . .

+Tuesday, April 17:

Tuesday is solid except for the after-dinner timeslot.

Tuesday morning has golf, but not everyone golfs, and there's room for
second/third track activities Tuesday morning.

Afternoon has the Art Tour, but there would be room for others in there
as well.

+ 8:00am: Katie's Kozy Koffee Korner (Flamingo Club Cappucino) - ms
+ 9:00am: Diva Las Vegas Invitational Golf (Sunrise Golf Club) - ms
+ 11:00am: Bare Minerals Makeup - All day every day (Bare Minerals FSM)
+ 12:00n: Lunch With Aejaie (Harrah's Food Court) - ms
+ 2:00pm: On-site DLV check-in (Flamingo) - ms
+ 2:00pm: Art Tour (Gallery at Bellagio) - ms
+ 5:00pm: Happy Hour options (various) - ms
+ 5:00pm: Ruth's Chris option (Ruth's Chris Harrah's) - ms
+ 5:00pm: Carmine's option (Carmine's Caesars) - ms
+ 5:00pm: Giordano option (Giordanos Bally's) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Dining options (various) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Ruth's Chris option (Ruth's Chris Harrah's) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Carmine's option (Carmine's Caesars) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Giordano option (Giordanos Bally's) - ms
+ 9:00pm: Evening activity options (various)
+ 9:00pm: Big Lift Bar Crawl (Begin at Flamingo) - ms
+ 9:00pm: Jennifer Lopez concert (Planet Hollywood) - ms
+ 10:30pm: Late Nite Dancing and Socializing (Paris Cabaret Lounge)

One more HH and dining option for Tuesday would fit, but is probably not
critical.

The Big Lift is a very strong activity and will probably sell out. The
JLo Concert is iffy, and if that is officially scratched we could most
definitely use another evening option in there. Big Wheel or something?
. . . . .

+Wednesday, April 18:

Wednesday, for the most part, has shaped up nicely. The daytime is solid
with a good slate of options of all types.

+ 8:00am: Katie's Kozy Koffee Korner (Flamingo Club Cappucino) - ms
+ 9:30am: DLV Tennis Tournament (Bally's) - ms
+ 10:00am: Social at Transcending (Transcending The Gender Box) - sv
+ 11:00am: Bare Minerals Makeup - All day every day (Bare Minerals FSM)
+ 12:00n: Lunch with Dionne (Bahama Breeze) - ms
+ 2:00pm: Kiss Monster Mini-Golf (Rio) - ms
+ 5:00pm: Happy hour options (various)
+ 5:00pm: PF Chang option (PF Chang Planet Hollywood) - ms
+ 5:00pm: Ricardo's option (Ricardo's) - ms
+ 5:00pm: Michelle's choice (TBA) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Dining options (various)
+ 6:00pm: PF Chang option (PF Chang Planet Hollywood) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Ricardo's option (Ricardo's) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Michelle's choice (TBA) - ms
+ 8:30pm: DLV Treasure Hunt (Begin at Flamingo) - ms
+ 10:30pm: Late Nite Dancing and Socializing (Paris Cabaret Lounge)

We could use a second-track option against the Treasure Hunt in the
evening. Otherwise, Wednesday is looking good.
. . . . .

+Thursday, April 19:

As with golf, not everyone shoots, so there's definitely room for
another activity of about any type on Thursday morning.

Thursday afternoon has Topgolf, which is expected to be quite popular,
but there is room for a second-track option in the afternoon as well.

+ 8:00am: Katie's Kozy Koffee Korner (Flamingo Club Cappucino) - ms
+ 9:00am: Pistol and Rifle Shooting (Discount Firearms) - ms
+ 11:00am: Bare Minerals Makeup - All day every day (Bare Minerals FSM)
+ 12:00n: Lunch With Aejaie (Harrah's Food Court) - ms
+ 2:00pm: Topgolf (Topgolf) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Happy Hour (Off The Strip Bistro) - mv
+ 7:00pm: Farewell Dinner (Off The Strip Bistro) - mv
+ 9:30pm: Limousine Tour (Begin at Linq) - ms
+ 10:00pm: Carnaval Court Dance Party (Carnaval Court) - ms

Thursday evening looks solid. Very strong single-track HH and dinner and
two strong after-dinner options.
. . . . .

+Friday, April 20:

Friday morning is empty. There's room for touristy things, maybe a
shopping trip, etc.

Friday afternoon looks solid with four strong options.

+ 11:00am: Bare Minerals Makeup - All day every day (Bare Minerals FSM)
+ 12:00n: Lunch Without Ginger (tba) - ms
+ 1:00pm: LOVE Behind the Scenes tour (Mirage) - ms
+ 2:00pm: Exotic Racing (Las Vegas Motor Speedway) - ms
+ 2:30pm: High Tea (Four Seasons) - ms
+ 3:00pm: Afternoon Social (Carnaval Court) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Dinner options (various)
+ 6:00pm: Happy Hour options (various)
+ 6:00pm: Sandy's choice (TBA) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Trevi option (Trevi - Caesars) - ms
+ 7:00pm: Dining options (various)
+ 7:00pm: Trevi option (Trevi - Caesars) - ms
+ 7:00pm: Sandy's choice (TBA) - ms
+ 10:30pm: Late Nite Dancing (Paris Cabaret Lounge) - ms

Friday evening is no longer our sore spot. Two good HH/dining options.
Thanks to Sandy and Laura for coordinating these! :)

The ZZ Top concert would also be a "nice to have" on Friday evening.

The Transpride Prom (see below, or is it above?) :) could be one
after-dinner option, along with a couple of various catch-all things
("Explore Downtown", "Explore The Linq").

Bobbie wants feedback on the Transpride Prom, so please give her
some! :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Trevi and Hoover Dam:

Laura writes:

I will make it for Friday. About 15 people?

Will work Hoover Dam. Other tours leave at 8am, 10am and 11am from the
strip.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Laura. This really helps out. You're all set for Trevi.

Please let us know how things progress for Hoover Dam. As we noted in
the last mailing, there are quite a few potential timeslots for it.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Tennis and racing:

Stacy writes:

Hi everyone!

Tennis is all set up for 9:30am-11:30am on Wednesday the 18th at the
Bally's Tennis facility located directly behind the Paris parking
garage, and adjacent to the Bally's pool. This is a FREE event and
Tennis balls will be provided, however you need to bring your own
racquets and please wear rubber soled Tennis shoes or running shoes.
Cute Tennis attire is encouraged!
. . . . .

Exotics Racing is all set for Friday April 20th at 2pm at the Exotics
Racing location at the Las Vegas Speedway:

Exotics Racing
7065 Speedway BLVD.
Las Vegas, NV 89115
(702) 802-5662

Please try to arrive about 15-20 minutes early to get checked in.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you plan to race a car or numerous cars, please have
your selection/s made and paid for PRIOR to your arrival. They do NOT
take walk ins. You can view the cars and packages they offer on their
website exoticsracing.com

Our DLV group has been assigned Reference #236237, and when you call to
make your selections, you can ask for Jordan...and please provide him
the reference number so he knows we are all together.

The exoticsracing.com website has a list of frequently asked questions,
and here are a couple tips to remember..

-Participants need to wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes,
preferably sneakers.Sandals and high heels are NOT accepted.

-Helmets are provided.

-You DO NOT need to know how to drive a manual transmission. All of the
cars have paddle shifters with no clutch, and many can be driven
automatic as well.

-They offer a "Drifting ride along" experience for $99 with the
professional stunt driver from the movie Fast And Furious!

-Driving packages start at $249
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Stacy! Both sound super!

One question? Is there any racquet rental at Bally's, and if so, do you
know about how much?

Unless you object, let's use your write-up of the Racing activity as an
Activity Highlight, to be included in this weekend's general mailing.

Transpride Prom:

Bobbie writes:

Las Vegas TransPride is thinking about holding a spring prom Friday
April 20.

Down side, it would be a no alcohol gathering.

Would like an idea of how many people would go. This would be open to
the transgender community.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Bobbie.

I don't see any reason why we could not or should not put this on the
schedule, as some of our people will certainly be interested. If you
could give us the start time and location (Google did not seem to know
of it) we can put it as a line item on the schedule.

As to how many would be interested? There are a few ways we can find
out, both as of now and as of activity sign-up time.

First, how many reading this (yes, YOU, just hit REPLY - easy) :) would
or would not be interested? Please let us know if you would or would not
wish to attend this on Friday evening of DLV week.

Second, you (or I) could post the question in the DLV Discussion Forum
and ask for "yes/no I am/not interested" responses.

Third, put it on the schedule and do a "sign-up requested for headcount"
on the activity sign-up screen. The machine-adjusted show-up estimate
would be in the ballpark of how many DLVers you could expect to attend.
The problem with this is is that we're about a month out from when our
Activity Sign-up begins, and I'm assuming you want an approximate level
of interest before then.

Personally, if it happened to be somewhat conveniently located (I do not
plan on having a rental car this year), and I did not have another
commitment that evening, I would probably at least drop in to say "Hi"
and to $upport the effort.

Since it will be Friday, and not many of our volunteers (myself
included, I admit) are not jumping up and down anxiously planning
activities for after dinner on Friday evening, it could actually have
a fairly clear channel on our schedule. The way things are looking, it
would most likely be one of a few options on Friday evening with the
others being "Explore The Linq" and such.

If you can give us a few more details (location and time are most
important, cost, even if approximate) we can put it on the schedule.

PFC and Bar Crawl details:

Robin writes:

Yes, PFs at Planet Hollywood. It's close to everything. I'll call them
and reserve a table for 20.

On the crawl...... Set up payment somehow like this--- PayPal assures
you WILL have a spot reserved. Payment at BB is first-come/served. 25
MAX either way.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Robin. Please be sure that the info in the capacity and sign-up
tables above are OK.

We'll use that particular verbiage for the Big Lift on the sign-up
screen. I have a feeling that this one will sell out quickly under any
circumstances.

5825 W. Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89146

This restaurant has been a Diva favorite and TG-friendly place. The Food
Network recently choose this bar for its highlighted bar makeover. This
Video Production paid for the professional redesign and remodel. Ron A.,
The Owner was thrilled to get this recognition and the paid remodelling.

The new decor is refreshed and it looks fabulous inside, now. The
Network also changed the bar menu and theme, although it's still Minn
Vikings territory. The meeting room is now a game room. This episode
will air sometime this month or March 2018.

The new menu had a negative effect on the long time customers who missed
the original grill menu items. Some have left. The bartenteress, Dee no
longer works there.

I spoke with Ron A. and Tina, the cook, and they promised to bring back
the original grilled menu favorites. I eat there on my recent visit last
week and enjoyed the Salmon salad. I still recommend this establishment
for the Diva Org. recommended by Dionne

Thanks Dionne.

Dionne and all, the various Blue Ox places used to appear regularly on
the DLV schedule, but not in recent years.

HH and dinner at the Blue Ox on Sahara would make a great additional
dining option for Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday.

All, please consider taking this ball and running with it.

Bus service update:

Dionne writes:

Until recently, there was a convenient bus that ran between the Rio and
Harras hotels. That bus service was terminated last Nov. 2017. Please
remove this from our suggested travel hints or ?
. . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Yes, the Rio shuttle was discontinued in November of last year. This was
shortly after the CET management figured out that people were parking
for free at the Rio and using the shuttle to work around the paid
parking at most of the CET Strip casinos.

We've never listed the individual shuttles in our information, as they
change quite frequently.

Here is the verbiage about the shuttles we've had in the Final Attendee
Information for a few years now.

+There are many casino-sponsored shuttles, too many to enumerate. Most
+of these travel between properties of the same ownership or management
+but some stop at destinations such as downtown and shopping malls and
+even at competing properties in some cases.

+Some of these require no formality to ride, just hop on. Others require
+such things as a room key or a players club membership card. These
+shuttles vary widely as to schedule and comfort.

PF Chang suggestion

My I recommend we reconsider the PF Chang's @ Paradise;
-same menu @ PH but lower prices @ Paradise
-more convenient parking
-less public exposure
-avoid the long walk thru the Mall from parking to PH location

my $0.02 worth
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

It will be up to Robin, of course, to decide on which PF Chang to use.

Yes, you are probably correct that a PFC that is located in a major
resort may have slightly higher menu prices than stand-alone PFCs.

A couple of advantages that the Planet Hollywood PFC has is that it's
been used for many years of DLV. They know us and we know them. Another
factor is that the PFC at Planet Hollywood is a very easy walk for those
staying at Bally's and Paris, and a somewhat easy walk for those at the
Flamingo, where the PFC on Paradise is a drive or a taxi ride away.

ZZ Top:

Linda writes:

As much as I would like to hostess the ZZ Top concert on Friday night, I
don't think I will be able to for reasons of health. However, I may be
able to provide assistance to any other girl who might want to take the
lead.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks for letting us know, Linda.

All, if anyone would like to take charge of ZZ Top for Friday, please
let us know.

This one is most likely time-sensitive, so please don't hesitate if you
are interested.
