Org List:

This is the DLV 2017 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg_at_divalas.vegas)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
It's that time again:

We want to roll out activity sign-up shortly after the first of March,
and that's now one week away.

This gives us one more complete list cycle.

This means that everything that needs some kind of a sign-up, headcount,
other action, etc., needs to be solid as far as date, time, price, etc.
by the start of the first full week of March, which is when we plan to
roll out activity sign-up to the masses.

Please watch your inboxes over the next week or so, because if there are
any details we need about your activity, we'll be emailing you.

As was the case the past several weeks, there have been many updates and
additions to the schedule. Please look it over and help us sanity check
things! :)
. . . . .

As of Wednesday morning our headcount sits at 128, which means that the
sign-up rate has increased a bit over the past week or so. We are most
likely looking at a total turnout slightly above what we had in 2016.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Activity Highlights:

We would like to invite everyone who is coordinating an activity to
please post an Activity Highlight about it in the DLV Discussion Forum
on the web.

If you are coordinating an activity and do not want to post one, please
let us know and we'll go ahead and submit one for you.

These don't have to be elaborate. They just need to hit the high spots
and address any anticipated questions. The cost of the activity should
be posted, if known, and any additional action which needs to be done,
such as a headcount or prepayment, should be given.

Any questions? If so, please say so.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The golf situation:

This is last call to the ORG group.

We've had plenty of volunteers for other items, but unfortunately nobody
has stepped forward to coordinate golf this year.

If we do not have a volunteer for golf by this coming Friday, we'll make
one last general appeal for a volunteer to the attendees as a whole, and
make the decision to go forward with, or cancel golf, depending on the
response.

Dining details:

Vera writes:

So what do you suggest I do at this point about the two dining options I
have written you about - Magnolia's and the Indian Restaurant as far as
calling the management and letting them know how many to expect?

Or do we let them know after the activity sign ups start coming in?
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Vera.

Here is what I would suggest.

First of all, we (meaning you in this case) :) need to set a limit on
how many you want at each dining activity. I don't see any number for
the Indian place but you did mention 15-20 for Magnolia. 20 would be a
good number to use for the point the "full" sign goes up and the machine
can give a running total of how many are really expected to show.

We'll get you the link to the sign-up and you can see at any time how
many and who are signed up, as well as any who are in a waiting list
state. You can then give the venues a number that they can use.

As for timing, we'll know the numbers fairly accurately about a week
prior to DLV. If you need numbers prior to that, we can set a deadline
for sign-ups, say, at two weeks prior to the activity.

Biggest burning question now is how many to limit the Indian place to.

High Tea:

Marilyn writes:

I just found out that I will be able to go to DLV this year.

I am discussion with Four Seasons to have a High Tea on Friday afternoon
at 3 pm (Though I am hoping to change it to 2 PM). The have two private
dining rooms available, one seats up to 12 and the other up to 22.

In the past we've had anywhere from 8 to 20 people. I am waiting for a
call back from them to see what the minimum charge is to reserve the
rooms. So unless they demand too much, we might want to pencil this in.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Marilyn.

We'll put it down for 3:00pm and we can change it if we need to. This
will round out Friday afternoon very nicely.

We'll need the maximum number you can handle. We can use 22 if you want
or we can use 12, whichever you decide. We should also have the cost and
any payment details or deadlines before activity sign-up starts, which
is, as we've said, about 1 1/2 weeks away.

Let's race:

Stacy writes:

I've booked a time slot for a group for Exotics Racing at the Las Vegas
Speedway for Friday, March 31st at 2pm.

Anyone who wants to attend can choose to drive an exotic sportscar with
the cheapest packages starting at $299 for 5 laps, or you can choose a 2
lap, "Drifting" ride along package in a 500 horsepower Corvette Z06 with
a professional driver for $99.

Last year we had a couple girls opt for the ride along and it was with
an actual stunt driver from the movie "Fast And Furious"!

I have an account set up with Exotics Racing for our event and will be
able to provide a reference number for anyone who is interested in
either driving or doing a ride along. Payment would need to be made as
early as possible to Exotics Racing for any package chosen.

For more information on packages offered or to see what exotic cars they
have ready for you, visit the Exotics Racing Las Vegas website at:
www.exoticsracing.com
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Stacy.

If you don't mind I'm going to edit your item just a bit and post it as
an Activity Highlight, unless you want to do so. Please let us know and
if you would rather post it yourself, pleas say so by this weekend.

We'll put this on the schedule for 2:00pm on Friday with sign-up
required and a $99-$299 range for cost.

Please let us know any other major details.

In light of the two additional Friday activities, I'm going to move
Pinball to another timeslot, but make the decision on the timeslot at a
later time, since Pinball is highly portable.

Wig Seminar:

Cami writes:

So I have been in touch with Wendy from the wig store and she is still
willing to send down Michelle and another girl from the Saint George
store. Someone needs to take it on and I can put you in touch with Wendy
directly if that helps. Let me know what you want to do soon.
. . . . .

Dionne writes:

I'm sorry to hear that Cami will not attend DVL2017.

I offer to be the substitute hostess for the wig workshop on Thursday
afternoon.

This depends of course if Wendi & Michelle want to join us. It could
happen at Bahama for lunch. If the wig workshop can't happen, I don't
want to just do lunch. Please let me know if this will work.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks ladies.

We'll do an exchange of contact info on this one and get things moving.

We don't know what the wig ladies' schedule will be, but yes, Thursday
would indeed be a good day to have it as it has few conflicts. We will
hold off on putting it on the schedule until things are confirmed.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Magnolia on Sunday:

Vera writes:

Further news on Magnolia Sunday night dinner...

Got a call back from manager and here's the scoop.

1. They can accommodate a group of 20

2. We all won't be sitting at the same table BUT in the same room.

3. Our tab has to be on one check ... No separate tabs. and the gratuity
of 18% is based on total of tab.

Therefore, if we want to have dinner there it will have to be with a
group that DOES NOT mind a ONE CHECK situation. We all keep track of
what we order and pay the amount that you owe plus our share of the 18%.
In the end we should all have had a nice dinner, and everyone puts in
their share of the tab plus the gratuity portion along with your tab for
beverages.

This is one of those situations where some of our ladies complained
about saying that it was unfair. Well, it is unfair if some people leave
others holding the bag on the tab. But, come on we are all adult ladies,
and we all should know how to add and figure in the 18% tab. If you
object to this type of dining option, then just opt out and go somewhere
else... but I nor Dennis will get stuck paying the difference on what
some of the ladies order and eat. So you decide and let me know how many
are willing to do this and I will call to make reservations.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Vera.

We'll note that there will be one shared check on the sign-up screen so
there will be no misunderstandings. Since this will be a nicer place,
hopefully everyone will be on their best behavior when the check is
presented. :)

Rat Pack Show:

Vera writes:

> We could use a second-track option opposite the Limo Tour, as not
> everyone will want to do that. Show? Something touristy?

Dennis and I are thinking of going to the Rat Pack Show. We could host
and meet people there but they'd have to secure their own tickets for
the show... I've heard it is a great show... relive the Las Vegas of
yesteryear.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Vera.

I assume you are talking about the Rat Pack Is Back show at the Tuscany,
is this correct?

If so, I'm going to hold of putting this on the schedule until you
confirm a few things.

For Wednesday, we have you and Dennis hosting the Taj Place, and I show
the Rat Pack show starting at 7:30pm which is obviously not going to
work.

Please let us know what to do. You could either move the Taj Place to
another night or do the show another night.

Please let us know on this.

Restaurant prepayment:

Katie writes:

Hi.

This may be thinking out of the box and maybe not very logical but.

My wife and I once used a charter airline to fly into Vegas and a sort
of Tour atmosphere. The Stewardess was selling tickets for a dinner and
show package at the Stratosphere (Which I might add turned out to be an
excellent impersonators show and one of the best I have ever seen! and a
good possibility for a future DLV activity) with a trip up the tower
thrown in too.

The format was... If you paid now via credit card on the flight for a
specific night (And she stressed at this point) If you are winning and
don't want to leave the table or slot machine, then Don't worry Keep
your tickets and we will totally refund you on the return flight if you
miss the show for any reason.

Now let's apply this to DLV..

If you are booking 1 or more tables and want a head count for your pre
planned dinner out, then use Pay pall ahead of time for a set amount.
Let's say Maybe $40:00. just for example.

If they show up you give them cash $40 cash back and if they don't you
have amassed a mild amount of gambling sheckels for yourself..*lol*.. Or
if you would rather not make $$ off it then if 3 don't show up 40X3 $120
Two, Three or 4 bottles of wine for the table. Or free deserts. And the
no shows get Their very own Just Deserts. Ha! and couldn't even be
bothered to tell you.

I am serious here girls. It is a royal pain to book a table for 6 or 10
and 3 show up because thy found something better to do and it is very
embarrassing too.

As opposed to other cities, It is easy enough to get a roll of $20's
from the change machines or the cashier in Vegas to pay back the loyal
diners and if someone Really wants to dine with the girls they will show
up.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Katie.

Everyone who coordinates a dinner needs to decide how to do it, and yes,
we (and the TG community in general) have an issue with no-shows which
we've dealt with over the years with varying degrees of success.

A few things we've learned is that there are very few one size fits all
solutions and each dining venue will be different. Many places are fine
with an unknown number just showing up. Others require very specific
numbers for reservations.

We've also learned that our people, in general, abhor prepayment of any
type. In some cases it's necessary, with such things as the Limo Tour
and the High Tea, but there are some real limits on what our people are
willing to do.

If any hosts or hostesses wish to do a Paypal prepayment on a place that
requires an advance commitment, they can do it.

Lunch details:

Aejaie writes:

Hello,

It would be great if I could get a head count for both lunches, I'd like
to have a rough idea how many to expect for the restaurant on Monday.

I arrive at 11:00 am on Sunday, with getting to the hotel and checked it
maybe 12:30. I would be happy to host at the Flamingo buffet, but it
might be best to schedule it for 1:00/1:30 pm.

I understand if you want to keep it consistent at noon, which I would
not be available for. If you want to move my three lunches to 1:00 pm
that works as well. either way.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Aejaie.

We'll move the Sunday LWA to 1:00pm and let you make the call on the
other days. Historically, we had standardized with 1:00pm at first but
moved this to noon in recent years.

You are the hostess, so you set the times. Please let us know. :)
