Thanks to all who have sent in photos. Please keep 'em coming! :)
Please let us know ASAP if you have any difficulty submitting photos.

Org Chat forum:
As stated in a previous mailing, let's try thing and see how it works.
This is intended to be in addition to and not in place of any of our
regular ORG mailings.
This will help us brainstorm in more of a free form without having to
wait for a cycle of this regular mailing list.
It's on line here:
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/mydlv/mainforum/viewforum.php?f=17
Everyone who is on the ORG list who currently has a MyDLV account should
now have read/write/post/delete access. As is the case with almost all
of our media, it's readable by all. Please don't use this for anything
that is sensitive or confidential in nature.
If anyone has forgotten or misplaced their MyDLV username and/or
password, please write in as it's trivial to get thing straightened out.

What worked:
Annie writes:
Let's open up the discussion on what did and did not meet our
expectations during our recent event.
First, some generalities.
Overall, I think that the event was very enjoyable.
My observation was that the crowd was very enthusiastic and more "into
things" than last year.
We had good crowds at our two maximum-attendance gatherings as well as
at our mid-scale activities.
One thing which I do not believe worked well, however, was our span of
days covering Monday through Saturday with the prior Sunday being
Easter. We had several report being late, almost late, or very rushed on
Monday and we had a very significant (but admittedly expected) drop-off
on Saturday. Saturday was exceptionally weak, both in terms of schedule
and in turnout.
One particular snag that hit us was that we are unable to get an
accurate final turnout count for this year. The main sign-in list was
accidentally discarded and there was no way to accurately reconstruct
the data.
This was simply human error. Sh*t happens! :(
We did have a number of totally new and different activities this year,
such as Exotic Car Racing, Wayne Newton Estate, Hollywood Car Museum,
Carnaval Court, and the winner of the year, IMAO of course, Off The
Strip Bistro.
We had good reports from sessions of what have become recurring
favorites such as Pinball Hall Of Fame, Bahama Breeze, Late Night
Dancing, Katie's Koffee Korner, DLV Invitational Golf, Pistol and rifle
shooting, and others.
We also had good results bringing back previous activities which worked
well in the past such as Shiloh Horse Rescue, Erotic Heritage Museum,
and the Limo Tour.
. . . . .
Now some specific thoughts on various activities ...
First, and not on the schedule, was our Pre-DLV gathering on Sunday
evening at Margaritaville. Thanks to Beverly for suggesting this and it
worked very well.
It was our greatest turnout for a Pre-DLV gathering since 2010, despite
the fact that many had not yet arrived that Sunday evening.
I do believe that the proximity of the venue to where many of the
folks were staying really helped this one!
. . . . .
I only attended one session of Katie's Koffee Korner and I did not stick
around very long. I had assumed that they would be meeting inside due to
the chilly weather but I found the group outside huddled around a fire
pit.
I could not find a happy medium in temperature between the cold air and
the heat from the fire so I made my appearance, gave my regards, and
headed off to a more temperate location.
. . . . .
I did Lunch With Ginger on Monday at the Rio. Turnout was low, and the
price was, IMAO, high for what we got.
. . . . .
The Pinball Hall Of Fame worked very well for the second year. Our group
blended very well into the "civilian" crowd and it appeared that most
everyone was enjoying it.
. . . . .
I did not personally attend the New Attendee Welcome and Orientation and
I only heard one specific comment (positive) about it.
I would appreciate hearing from Vera, Delaney, Katie WRT how they
thought the session went.
. . . . .
Bahama Breeze went very well, IMAO. This year we did have a working
microphone, a bartender in the Gazebo Room, and much faster service.
The evening went very well, overall.
This year the gang was more reluctant to get up and pose for the group
photo. In a way this was a Good Thing since it was obvious that most
everyone was engaged in meaningful conversation and enjoying the
company.
. . . . .
Late Night Dancing went well for the sessions I attended. I missed the
Wednesday session and on Thursday, JoAnn and I stayed at the bar at OTS
far longer than I had intended. My one comment about LND is that our
people tended to blend VERY well into the crowd!
. . . . .
Tuesday was strong up through dinner. However ...
Explore The Linq. This was a total cop-out and was never intended to be
any kind of feature activity of the evening. Unfortunately Tuesday
evening was one of our weakest. I had put this on the schedule kind of a
place holder, hoping that it would be replaced by more meaningful
activities.
We did have a very strong dinner-show combo plus one second-track
activity (Tuesday Night Cinema) and also an independent off-schedule
activity which was actually a Good Thing since it partly compensated for
the weaker "official" schedule that evening.
I intended to kind of "hold court" at Chayo at the bar, and did so for a
while, but I did not have any company so I made rounds of the Linq area
and did run into a fair number of our people off and on, most of whom
were blending well and were not attracting unwanted attention. I was
very pleasantly surprised to NOT see larger groups of our people. I
asked how everyone was doing and everyone seemed to be holding their
own. I kept watch until shortly before Late Night Dancing.
. . . . .
I think the Erotic Heritage Museum affair went very well. I was very
pleasantly surprised to find the bar. I had actually picked up a beer at
the gift shop and brought it along, thinking that drink service was to
be spotty.
The museum tour went well.
However, we lost much of the crowd at the discontinuity between the tour
and the sessions.
. . . . .
Shopping With Ginger was low-key and of low attendance from what I could
tell. I shopped and browsed on my own and met Ginger and Kay at the
Apple Store on schedule, and we ventured up to Lunch With Ginger, which
was comparatively well attended.
. . . . .
The Creative Wigs seminar worked very well as it has in previous years.
Very good crowd, and very good information and absolutely no hard-sell!
. . . . .
To say that Off The Strip Bistro worked is an understatement!
We packed the place! It appeared that every seat was filled, both at the
tables and at the bar, with others milling around.
The food was excellent and reasonable in price.
There was a slight bit of confusion about payment, but everyone seemed
to be accommodated.
They kept the bar open longer than they intended, but finally called
"time" when some of the staff was going off shift.
This is the New Venue Of The Year IMAO! :)
. . . . .
Trevi worked out well this year. It was a smaller (20-ish) group and
everyone seemed to be enjoying it. This most definitely worked. The
service was superb and they did give separate checks.
. . . . .
My personal goal for the Limousine Tour was to do all I could to be sure
we had a smoothly-running tour with as little b*tching as possible. Such
was the case.
The one lesson learned was not to do the Limo Tour on a Friday simply
due to the added crowd and traffic. We had to intentionally move things
along in order to make our schedule with all of the traffic.
JoAnn had wanted to make an additional stop at the "Welcome To Downtown
Las Vegas" sign, right where the old Del Mar Motel used to be. I had
concerns about parking that many limos and getting the crowd safely to
the sign with no convenient crosswalks, so we did scrap that one.
. . . . .
Saturday was our weakest day! We saw a very significant drop-off in
attendance and more importantly in volunteers.
For Saturday, I was Ginger For A Day for Lunch With Ginger. Turnout was
low, as expected.
For Saturday afternoon and evening, the skeletal schedule was about all
we could do under the circumstances. Checking the roster, many of our
otherwise active volunteers left on Friday or Saturday and that left us
with few options.
I think that we did as well as we could under the circumstances.
LOL, the highlight of the day was getting Ginger to play Sigma Derby! :)
. . . . .
Comments? Additions?
Thanks again, gang, for another event which for the most part worked
very well! :)

I forgot to give you head counts for my events.
Matt Franco show was 18 and dinner after was 23 (without Donnie Osmond).
The luncheon was 22 and 25 for the seminars. The Carnival Ct was 23.

Annie responds:
Those are good turnout numbers for all of those activities. I was only
at one of these (Creative Wig Seminar) but I heard good things about all
of the others.
We thank you again for taking all of these on! :)
