QA-ing the schedule:
This is a quick brief mailing covering items that we need to
double-check prior to Activity Sign-up.
First, the actual schedule. Please look over the summary schedule at the
bottom of this mailing. Please look out for missing items and items that
are in the wrong timeslot. There have been a number of items which have
changed recently, so please be sure that everything is there and in the
right place.
Also, please check the name of the activity and the common name of the
venue. There have been a few compromises made to get things to fit in
the various forms of our schedule, but please look for inaccuracies in
name of activity and common name of location.

Please surf to the URL listed in the second item in this mailing. You
will be able to see how the activities now appear on the sign-up screen.
Please look out for such things as factual errors, spelling and typos,
etc.

Sign-up classification:
Here are the exact descriptions of the types of activity sign-up. These
are listed here from the perspective of the attendee who is signing up.

Sign-up (requested) for headcount:
This is in cases where we need to know the approximate level of interest
in the activity. Signing up is not a commitment to attend. Attendance is
welcome by registered DLV attendees who have not signed up. If you
decide you no longer wish to attend, a cancellation is appreciated but
not required.

Sign-up requested:
This means that your sign-up is requested, but not required. Signing up
indicates your intent to attend. The activity is also open to registered
DLV attendees who have not signed up, but in some cases, priority may be
given to those signed up in advance. A timely cancellation is expected
if you no longer intend to participate in this activity.

Sign-up required:
This indicates that sign-up is required to attend and participate, and
that your sign-up is a commitment to attend, participate, and for some
activities, pay. These activities are not normally open to those not
signed up, except under special arrangements. You are "on your honor" to
cancel in a timely manner if you no longer wish to participate. Some
activities may have a cancellation deadline.

Pre-payment required:
This indicates that signing up indicates your intent to participate, but
it is the receipt of payment which locks in your spot. Signing up is
considered to be a promise to follow through and pre-pay in accordance
with instructions, which vary from activity to activity. You are
expected to cancel in a timely manner if you know you will not be
pre-paying according to instructions. It is considered to be highly
inconsiderate to "cancel by default" by simply failing to make payment
according to instructions. Please pay particular attention to any
deadlines or cut-offs for payment, as these have been a particular
source of misunderstandings and disappointments in the past.

For this year we do not have any sign-ups that require a phone number to
be on file, or those which are limited to no no-show-no-pay on file.
These options are available, but nobody has requested them yet this
year.
