Activity sign-up in progress:

This is a quick and relatively "unpolished" mailing catching up on
various organizational items.

If you sent in something to dlvorg and do not see it here, please
remind. :)

ORG mailings from now until our big event will most likely be coming out
as needed. Please keep an eye on those inboxes. :)

Big thanks go out to those who volunteered to coordinate the additional
activities! Please check the schedule below and be sure that all of the
recently-added activities are correct.

The first main batch of activity sign-ups went out last Thursday and the
second batch, including the first round of nag-o-grams went out this
morning.

If anyone needs to know the names and/or counts for sign-up activities,
please write in for the URL of the (very frequently updated) summary
page.

As of this morning a total of 134 sign-up mailings have gone out and as
of this minute and second (it changes almost hourly) 64 of them have
been responded to. This leaves 70 of them outstanding (including those
for some VERY familiar names! **HINT**) so we can say that about half of
those which will come in are in.

As of now, no activities are in a waiting list state.

Two minor issues were reported, both which are resolved. One was due to
the individual being registered twice and the other was confusion on the
greyed-out "two" selection for an attendee who did not have a SO on the
registration.

As some of you found out during the test mailing, sign-up was not
enabled on the AIP and some received a greyed-out "Activity Sign-up"
tile. This was corrected as soon as a report came in.

Speaking of which ...

One particular note: If something is wrong or does not work as you
expect, please report it PROMPTLY and please be explicit, as in what
exactly did not work, any error messages you see, etc. The log for the
greyed-out tile issue showed that we had a small but significant number
of test users who tried it but did not send in a report. :) Thanks go
out to all of those who did send in a report on this!

Also, if you have any email issues, such as an expected item not
arriving as expected or any "bounce" messages, please report them
promptly! Email is not a perfect medium, but issues are usually very
easy to trace if we know there is an issue. If you receive any "bounce"
messages when sending to a DLV address, please let us know and please
send in the non-delivery response with all of the "gobbledygook" intact.

Activity capacity limits:

Please check over the following list and please be sure all of the
numbers look sane.

These are the activities which appear on the sign-up screen and the
current capacity limit which drives the "full" flag and waiting list
status.

Many of these were estimated at the time sign-up was tested.

Several of the activities have no practical limit, and in these cases
the limit was intentionally set arbitrarily high.

We're most concerned about those activities which DO have some kind of a
hard limit, and those where an attendee may be disappointed to be on a
waiting list.

Shouldn't we be gearing up a bit faster on posting 2016 Activity
highlights descriptions to MY DLV?

2 weeks to go till DLV 2016 this coming Sunday and there are only 4
guidelines for the attendees to look over and make an important decision
on.

I am sure there must be more than just me who must be a bit concerned
about this.

Maybe I just worry too much. Who knows.

Yes, I think we should definitely ramp up the Activity Highlights!

We currently have 8 of them, 3 of which are, as of this time, flagged as
"sticky" on the main Discussion Forum page.

I would encourage those who are in charge of an activity but have not
submitted an Activity Highlight to do so as soon as possible. Please
be sure that "Activity Highlight" is in the subject and post on the
Discussion Forum or via email or the Yahoo group.

I have contracted with them to have a person there playing music and
providing A PA for us to use. Of course that's what they said last year
too. Hopefully it'll go better this year. I am planning on using their
sound system and music capabilities for the evening.

Sorry for being so late. Been out of communication.

Since the limo tour was back on but did not know if it is assebling at
Ceasar's Palace like in past years do you want me to set up Trevi as a
place to eat out that night

It won't be upstairs like in the past but downstairs.

Was told be can have full access to the menu and last year they said
they would do separate checks for a smaller group?

Also wanted to volunteer for quiet Movie night.

Monday night, Brendan Theatre located at the Palms Hotel, $5.00 movies
all day. No IMAX or 3-D

Tuesday night, Cinemark Theater located at the Orleans, $5.50 movies all
day

We can decide on a Movie. Meet at 10:00pm.

Recommend: Batman vs Superman. Divergent 3: Allegiant

If it is too late. That is fine too. Will just take pictures.

Limo Tour may or may not depart from Caesars. "Too early to call." :)
JoAnn and I are hashing that out.

For your movie night, I'm suggesting (and I put it on the schedule)
Tuesday and not Monday, as we're giving a "clear channel" to the opening
festivities that evening.

Pool Party and Car race luncheon:

I am thinking of doing a pool party at the Flamingo for those that are
still around on Saturday afternoon. Weather dependent. Have people sign
up for a head count for me to be able to contact them. This might be a
little difficult to coordinate but I would think we would start at 11
o'clock in the morning. Getting everyone to sit together will be the
challenge. I will see if I can block off some areas by calling in
advance.

One more thing, before the car racing event on Wednesday which is at 3
o'clock we're going to have an impromptu lunch at a place that I saw on
diners dives. It is called SNS Truck Wash and it is near the racetrack.
Probably meet there about 1:30

I know last year I asked for email addresses of people who signed up for
various things and in particular I'm thinking about the PayPal for the
show. Can you produce once people are signed up for me attendees email
addresses and or contact info so I can reach out to them as needed?

For the pool party, it's too late for a sign-up. I also know that the
Flamingo staff checks room keys at entry to the pool area and turns away
those without one. To get around this, there will probably be a fairly
significant fee. :( Please let us know if you want to move forward with
this.

Lunch at the Truck Wash (LOL, probably the most unusual lunch venue in
our history) is all set. It's too late for a sign-up, but I'm very sure
that the count will be almost the same as those for the Racing.

Now as to Paypal, it's on the sign-up screen with your email address as
the recipient. If you don't want it there, scream so it can be taken off
of the screen.

Yes, you can get an email address list for any sign-up activity. Just
say when.
