Do we have a consensus:

Thanks to all who commented.

Comments clearly favor Off The Strip Bistro.

Unless someone yells "Stop" within the next 48 hours, we'll give Marisa
the "OK" to pull the trigger.

If someone screams, then we'll vote. Please watch those inboxes! :)

Speak (scream) now, or forever hold it ...

Although it appears that we're close to a consensus, it's still not
final.

Whichever way this goes Yardhouse or Off The Strip, I am suggesting that
we give either Cami or Marisa "named assistant status" and credit for
co-coordinating the affair, should the opposite option be chosen. Those
two did the legwork, which is something I daresay many of our volunteers
are not willing to do.

I'm also suggesting that should we take up Vivian's offer for front
money, that she be given "named assistant status" as well. This was
what was done a few years back regarding front money for golf.

Any objections?

On the subject of collecting $$$ and splitting checks, I (Annie) will
commit to personally assist with any check splitting issues and/or
collection issues.

Clarification please:

Yardhouse clarification please.

Am I to understand that if a person does not choose to eat at the
Yardhouse they must drink a minimum of $35.00 worth of whatever be it
alcohol, wine or soda?
. . . . .

Annie responds:

It's my impression that they are looking for total food and drink sales
to average $35 per person or more.

For example, if we have 50 people present and a food and drink total of
$1750.00, the minimum is satisfied. Those who order only a soda will be
easily offset by those ordering two appetizers, a huge steak, and six
bar drinks. :)

I agree.

Agreed as well.

Vote if you must, and soon. I do think we will have a consensus.

Given what I have read here I would favor Off The Strip. I think we can
attract more people with a fixed goal of $1000 for the group, as opposed
to $35 per person regardless of the number of people.

I feel confident that more than 50 will attend the event at Off The
Strip. I am much more in favor of a situation allowing for ordering off
the regular menu, as opposed to a buffet.

It hasn't been made clear to me if this buffet is all you can eat. Even
if it was it still seems too expensive for me, especially when one can
have an entire buffet with over a hundred items at some venues for less
than $35.

I have set foot in Off The Strip, it was morning, considering breakfast
for myself. It looked fine to me. I will have to go and eat there. I am
not happy about the lack of separate checks but I don't think that
should be a deal breaker. I am in strong favor of the location at the
LINQ. I do not have voting status, I stand before you strongly in favor
of Off The Strip at the LINQ, this is where I am much more likely to
attend. Let's get on the with business of making it happen.

Annie responds:

The buffet would be at the Yardhouse only, and it's my impression that
it would be "all you can eat, within reason, while it lasts", kind of
like we had at the Blue Ox. Yes, you'll probably be able to go back for
seconds, but when they are out of a dish, that's it.

I agree with Annie that the Off The Strip Bistro looks best for our
evening dining.

The menu availability is preferred by me as it offers greater variety.

As long as the person(s) hosting the activity is happy with this choice
then I say 'go for it'.

First off, let me just comment that because I am possibly hosting one
place does not mean I would not seriously consider the other.

In fact, based on what I read, I would recommend off the strip as well.

The only significant difference is with Yardhouse we know exactly what
to collect from people for food and could be done before or as they
enter the restaurant. With the Bistro, it sounds like they're going to
total all the individual checks and put them on one bill that one person
will need to pay. This is pretty much the same as Yardhouse except
someone's going to be responsible for trying to collect money from 50 +
people all in different amounts. I see that as being a nightmare.

I assume that the seating will all be in one area and tables from 4 to 8
people? I think the menu option will be better at the Bistro as they
have some good options and it is certainly better than a buffet. It also
allows for those who choose to eat lightly or for less money. You asked
if we should vote, if we need to, I would vote for off the strip, but I
would also give some serious thought as to how all the money gets
collected.

I agree. I visited the Yardhouse last week and found it to be noisy,
crowded and not private.

Altho I am not personally familiar with any of the venues for the
closing feast, I vote for Off the Strip for financial reasons alone.
