Org List:

This is the DLV 2016 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg_at_geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Thanks to all:

Big thanks to all who answered the call for additional activities.

We're not yet solid on the schedule, but things are much better than
last week and the schedule is looking more "rounder and fuller and
pleasingly three-dimensional" and such. :)

We're asking all to please look over the working schedule below and
please report any errors.

We'll do a pre-sign-up schedule review in the next regular ORG mailing.
. . . . .

Please watch your inboxes!

As we prepare for Activity Sign-up, there are often times details that
are needed and questions that need to be answered.
. . . . .

If you ever wonder if you're missing any ORG mailings, either the
regular Wednesday ones or the special mid-cycle mailings, surf here:

http://www.geekbabe.com/annie/org16arc/

This will contain all of them, and is regenerated a few minutes
after each item goes out to the ORG list.
. . . . .

Plans for EHM are moving along nicely. This is going to be one of the
major highlights of the week.

It's pretty much down to Yardhouse and Off The Strip for the Celebration
and the question is being called in the mid-cycle mailings. Please
expect another mid-cycle mailing shortly, possibly yet today.
. . . . .

As of Wednesday morning we have a total of 146 signed up to attend,
which includes 21 SOs.

For those who expected a larger number this week, this total was trimmed
a bit when it was discovered that one couple had two registrations, each
with each other listed as the SO, and one individual had THREE different
registrations, each with a variant of a very unusual name.

We also have a report of a possible cancellation who has not actually
cancelled as well.

Even with the deletions, we're still slightly ahead of where we were in
this stage of the cycle last year.

The Magic Machine says that of these 146, 119 will actually show, which
is a number derived from the more conservative "fudge factors" put in
place following last year's higher than predicted fall-out rate.

Assuming that the registrations keep coming in at the rate they have
been, we're certain to have a total crowd larger than we did last year.

Friday Fun Frolics:

Beverly writes:

Ok, you've been screaming for some new activities, especially for Friday
morning. So here is one for you...

Wayne Newton's Casa de Shenandoah Tour. This is a 2-3 hour tour of his
52 acre estate just 4 miles from the strip. Cost of the tour is $45/ $42
seniors.

Once you enter through the gilded gates, you will forget you are in Las
Vegas.

Casa de Shenandoah is 52 lush acres of landscaping, natural artesian
ponds and waterfalls. You will see freely roaming peacocks, swans, geese
and a variety of exotic birds.

The first stop is the Museum where visitors will see Wayne Newton's
extensive car collection, board his private jet and tour his vast
memorabilia collection including gifts from close friends Frank Sinatra,
Jack Benny, Nat King Cole, and Elvis Presley.

Guests will then head to the equine area where they will see Wayne
Newton's champion Arabian horses. Various showcases include horses
swimming in our state-of-the-art equine swimming pool and/or a horse
demonstration. Visit our Exotic Animal Exhibit, including Penguin
Island, Monkey Manor, Wallaby World and many more animal habitats. Come
meet all of the animals that are a part of Wayne's family.

Tour the Mansion, Wayne's home that he personally designed, built, and
completed in 1976. Sounds great doesn't it!

We can meet for Katie's Koffee Klub at 8:00, drive to the tour and be
done in time for Lunch with "??".

Haven't had enough fun yet? Well then after lunch let's head over to the
Hollywood Cars Museum located just a mile off the strip for a 1-2 hour
tour of cars from TV and movies that we have all seen.

The 30,000-Sq.-Ft. Hollywood Cars Museum includes opportunities for
patrons to see the workshop of "Hollywood Jay," whose legendary
creations include cars for "RoboCop," "Back To The Future," "The
Flintstones," a bunkbed hot rod and a 40-foot pink hot tub convertible
limo, which was profiled on "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous!" The
best car museum in Las Vegas! Cost is $15.

A day of fun and we will be done by mid-afternoon, leaving plenty of
time to get ready for an evening of dining and more fun.

How does that sound?

If needed these could easily be moved to Thursday instead of Friday as
well as each activity broken into two days instead of one.

And anyone can feel free to join us for both or either one of these fun
outings.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Beverly.

Both are currently on the schedule for Friday, simply because Friday has
more "white space" in the morning and afternoon. Please let us know if
you want any changes.

New Attendee session:

Vera writes:

> What I would suggest, ... is for there to be a list of bullet-point
> items, those which are frequently unclear or misunderstood, which

Perhaps some feedback from the new attendees would be helpful to start
forming a structured list of discussion topics... this would certainly
help us in determining what we should discuss or help the newbies with.

Otherwise, it's just a rehash of what's on the web site regarding the
rules and regs, the Do's and Don'ts and that can get pretty dry and
boring!

Wish we could create a video showing some scenarios that might answer
the questions that the newbies might need addressing.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks, Vera, some excellent ideas here.

Yes, let's poll the Teeming Millions and get some feedback here. I'll be
posting a note both on the Discussion Forum and in this weekend's
general mailing.

Yes, a video might be nice. I think it's probably too late in the cycle
to get one produced for this year but we can surely be thinking of this
for next year and "shooting some footage" at this year's event.

I'm kind of assuming that you're talking about an on-line video as
opposed to one shown during the Orientation. Am I correct here?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Dining and show decisions:

Beverly writes:

Based on the input I have received and the comments sent to me I have
decided to stay with the Tuesday night Ruth's Chris Steakhouse as my
dining out option. The Center Cut steak house could be used by someone
else that evening or I will use it on Sunday night as a dinner out
option for those being at the event early.
. . . . .

Cami writes:

So in reading the email I noted that beverly was going to have dinner
possibly at the center cut instead of Ruth's Chris. Ironically, that was
going to be my choice for dinner prior to the show on Tuesday night.

If off the strip does not turn out to be the selection for the 20th
anniversary party then I could move my dinner to off the strip. If it
does wind up being the selection then I would probably have to find a
different place. So my plan would be to have cocktails at 5:30 3535
which is in the linqs. Followed by Matt Franco at 7 o'clock which is at
the linqs.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks, Ladies.

Please take a look at the schedule and be sure things are as you like
them. We have Ruth's Chris at the usual time and Center Cut later.

Cami? How do you want to do the ticketing for Mat Franco? Will you be
two-stepping the tickets or does everyone need to get their own?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Late Evening Dancing and lesson:

Dionne writes:

Please sign me up as the Hostess for this dance event on Wed. evening,
March 30; Mizuya Lounge & Club {Japanese for House of Water} Water
themed sushi bar & lounge with live music, located near the LIGHT
nightclub at the Mandalay Bay hotel.

Free mini-dance lesson @ 9:30 pm by Dionne kandi Piper, certified
Ballroom dance instructor

live band @ 10 PM, Paul Charles band, contemporary Top-40 music No Cover
Charge, two drink minimum
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks, Dionne.

It's currently on the schedule for Wednesday evening.

However, I might suggest Tuesday for a much better turnout, instead of
Wednesday, as 9:30 will be the time that the EHM activity will be in
full swing and that's a real Big Gun which will draw the majority of our
in-town attendees that evening, even thought it's not officially a
single track activity.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Lunch and Shopping:

Ginger writes:

I'm fine with giving up any lunch someone wants.

I'm also OK with helping do a shopping trip, but the discount mall
excursions did not seem to work well. How would Fashion Show and lunch
in the food court go over. If you want a discount mall, I'd rather do
North than South.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Ginger.

Ladies (and gentlemen), Aejaie has taken two of the Lunch With slots and
Ginger will not be offended if others (how about YOU!) want to take a
day or two. Very easy path to voting status.

Now as to shopping, Tuesday morning would work, opposite Golf. Wednesday
would as well, opposite Shiloh. Thursday would also, against Shooting.
Friday has Shenandoah, but again, not everyone will be doing it. Just
pick a day and time. :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Idea for March 31:

Edy writes:

I plan on attending this year... I have an idea that may have broad
appeal for some attendies... is it too late to schedule? are there
openings?

a March 31 date would be great.. I would be glad to officiate
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks, Edy.

I shiver with antici ... ... {say it!} PATION awaiting your details.

Yes, Thursday, March 31 has some open timeslots. I assume that you are
planning this for daytime. Morning would be best, as Creative Wigs in
the afternoon is a strong one which you probably do not want to go up
against directly.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Fit Flare Fashion:

Aejaie writes:

I'm happy to offer a - Fit, Flare and Fashion seminar or discussion.

We can cover body types, styles, sizing, fit, function and form from
bras to suites.

Please let me know asap so I can look for a location to host.

PS I will find two spots for lunch Monday and Wednesday by Tuesday
February 23rd.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Aejaie.

When do you want to do this? There are still several sparse daytime
timeslots where this type of a thing could work.

Also, please let us know your luncheon venues are decided upon.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Tuesday dining:

Delaney writes:

I moved to Nora's Cuisine, near Ricardos on W. Flamingo (6020 W.
Flamingo).

It's a moderately priced Italian vice the higher priced Nove Italiano.

I will likely hold Happy Hour there ...
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Delaney.

It's on the schedule, and this is a very good choice for a more moderate
option to balance the higher end options that evening.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Dining options:

Ginger writes:

I am prepared to do what you need, Morton's on Friday would be good, but
I am prepared to be flexible.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Ginger.

We've moved your evening dining to Friday at Morton's. Please check the
schedule to be sure it's as you expect it.

This will pair nicely with Ricardo's, which is more moderate in price.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Dining on Wednesday:

Vera writes:

I'd like to host a dinner on Wednesday at The Bavarian Hofbrau.. I
really like that place!
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Vera.

It's on the schedule, same timing as the other option that evening.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Better Dressing schedule:

Dionne writes:

> Thursday, March 31:
> 1:30pm: Better Dressing Roundtable Discussion

Please change this schedule for the Roundtable to Tuesday @ 1pm til 2:30
pm.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Dionne. This fills a gaping hole! :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Dining on Friday:

Randi writes:

I can do Ricardo's on Friday if you wish.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Randi.

It's on the schedule, HH and dinner at the usual times.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Makeover:

Katie writes:

Hi Girls. Might I suggest a makeover session or two for Monday Morning?
Monday needs something during the day and this would fit in nicely.

I am not personally into makeovers but It is my thought that quite a lot
of our ladies, especially the ones who may be new to going out might
want to do a makeup session at the very beginning of DLV to get in high
gear right away as opposed to later on in the week and this way they can
look their best all week long. The day leading up to our first night
Dinner Do sounds like the right time to do this!

I an suggesting this because I have had someone write to me on behalf of
a newer girl who is in need of guidance in this area and I think that
Monday would be the right time to do one or two sessions for those who
might need it. pre event and I suspect that Friday would be of no use to
anyone. *lol*.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

We'll be having BE/BM Makeovers each and every day and I expect that
Monday will fill up very quickly. I also expect that Wednesday and
Thursday will be busy as well with a drop-off on Friday and Saturday.
