Calling the question and making the decision:

This mailing covers only the 20th. Annual Celebration.

It appears that we are down to two strong venue choices and we need to
make some decisions so we can turn our people loose to move forward.

Options, in order of nomination:

1. Yardhouse, host(ess)ed by Cami.

2. Off The Strip Bistro, host(ess)ed by Marisa.

What we need now are your preferences for the two above options, given
your personal preference based upon the venue and the conditions offered
to us.

We have volunteers to take the ball and run. We also have a pledge for
front money, so everyone commenting on her (his) preference is immune
from being tapped to do busy work or provide funds.

Comments please!

Do we need a vote on this?

Celebration thoughts:

Annie writes:

Here are my comments, and my preference for a venue ...

After reading and re-reading and reading between the lines, I believe
that I could enjoy our Celebration at either the Yardhouse or Off The
Strip.

I personally would like to have the venue that, as a whole, attracts the
greater number of our people, is more likely to hold them for a few
hours of Quality Social Time, and is more likely to result in a greater
degree of enjoyment and satisfaction of the evening.

I have not set foot in either venue, but from the descriptions they are
located within a golf ball's drive of each other at the Linq and are
similar in their offerings of food and libations.

The conditions by which they are offered to us are different, however.

Please correct me (pronto!) if I am misunderstanding any of this!
. . . . .

The Yardhouse, if I understand correctly, requires a $35 minimum per
person, is offering a three-course buffet at $25-ish per person as the
single dining option, and will allow for non-dining individuals to
attend, subject to the average $35 per person total food and drink.

If I understand correctly the Yardhouse will require a CC to hold the
reservation but will not charge at the time the reservation is made.
. . . . .

The Off The Strip Bistro, if I understand correctly, requires a $1000
minimum, which would come out to $20 per person, assuming 50 in
attendance, which I think we can safely say will be the absolute minimum
we can expect.

They will allow for ordering from their full menu, but will not issue
separate checks.

Those not dining will be welcome, and would be counted toward making the
minimum.

IIRC they will require a $500 deposit. We do have one person on record
as pledging front money.
. . . . .

Considering the similarity of the venues, in my opinion, the conditions
are what makes the difference, and after reading and re-reading all of
the details and the comments, I think that the Off The Strip Bistro is
our better option.

I think that the offer of the regular menu is, in and of itself, a very
significant difference. This opinion comes from 19 years of learning
what our people like and dislike, and listening to the b*tching when
people are not happy with a dining venue.

Now from a fiscal standpoint (let's call it what it is, from a risk of
our volunteers taking a personal bath standpoint) the $1000 "nut" at the
Off The Strip is much easier to crack than the $35 per person required
by the Yardhouse.

I think the Off The Strip Bistro gives us better drawing power and is
more likely to have better staying power, meaning more able to hold our
people against a premature departure.

It also presents less of a financial risk to our volunteers.
. . . . .

Now I'm not everyone, and I would be welcome to hear any dissenting
opinions.

I'm hoping that we can make our venue selection by consensus, but if we
can't, then let's vote!

Hi.

Can we dispense with mentioning the obvious rejected locations for our
20th Anniversary night out and get down to a clear and precise
discussion so to speak? It would be nice to get moving on this before
someone else comes along and books our choice of dining room. or they
withdraw the offer... Which has happened before. = @ Margaritaville.

I would rather see a separate mailing with the final two or three
options described in detail so we can decipher it all in an easier
manner and we can leave out what is cluttering up the mailings. and get
down to voting and making a decision. I love what we do together as a
group and how we make the right decisions but it gets so cluttered
sometimes and I am sure I am not alone!

I would like to suggest that we have a completely separate mailing,
Dealing only with the anniversary meal places and their idiosyncrasies?
>From what I can gather we have almost decided on 2 options with the
reliable fallback of the Bahama Breeze but I could be wrong! ** This way
I can decide if I am going to go or not and/or plan something else for
Thursday night.

If we get down to What it is going to cost. What the restricted menu
will be, separate bills or not and what will the deposit be I suspect
the selection process will likely flow much more smoothly whereas 20
options, several of which are useless to us jams the airwaves
considerably. Hopefully this is received in the spirit it was intended
to be. I just want to get on with it. Time is running out.

Annie responds:

As I have been reading and re-reading the mid-cycle mailings, only two
venues have been given serious consideration over a few list cycles. The
last one to be dismissed was the Brooklyn Bowl and Bahama Breeze has
only been discussed as a fallback if nothing else works out.

We have two clear frontrunner and we should be able to decide between
the two very quickly.
