Off The Strip and Brooklyn Bowl:
Marisa writes:
Brooklyn Bowl gets really crowded when they have a concert there, so we
can't plan on having a large group event.
The OSB&B (Off Strip Bistro & Bar) may give us per table or separate
checks rather than one big bill. It looks like there's enough interest,
so I'll be talking to them again soon.

Annie responds:
Yes, please discuss our situation with them and see if they're willing
to think outside the box and get some very good business on an otherwise
slow night.
Thanks for checking this one out for us.

Celebration discussion:
> Yardhouse
> This appears to be the favorite as of this time. We do need to clarify
I favor Yard House, let's be sure to tie up all the loose ends, again,
we want to accommodate all of out food and drink guests and be able to
make guarantee.
> Off Strip Bistro
> Clarified below as the "On the Strip Off The Strip Bistro", I think
> this is VERY promising if I'm reading the details correctly.
I'd be willing to go with Off The Strip, Is this payment thing
extracurricular? I don't understand.
> Brooklyn Bowl
I'm not too familiar with Brooklyn Bowl, but the bowling could be a nice
situation, we'd need to find out if a concert will be going on, then it
could be quite crowded and noisy. They charge by time spent on the
lane, presumably because the concretes are in close proximity.
> Hofbrauhaus
> IMAO, we're just too far apart on this one!
Hofbrauhaus is nice for for a smaller gathering, but I'm not seeing it
getting off the ground for this event.
> Bahama Breeze
I favor Bahama Breeze a second time if we can use the same format for
our opening celebration.
> Border Grill
Whet about the location at Caesars Forum shops, that I'd think would be
quite convenient, though not as much as The Linq.
> Tilted Kilt
> Chayo
Tilted Kilt seems worth a look, but my good friend as severely
disrespected at Chayo last time around.
> Peppermill
I doubt they could handle a group our size, and the layout isn't very
conducive to mingling, it's quite tight. Just my humble opinion here.
> A fee at the door or a payment in advance would totally kill the
> turnout. That's just the way our people tend to behave.
I am absolutely not in favor of door fees or prepayments for this kind
of event.
> Assuming the terms are accurate, the on-the-Strip Off The Strip Bistro
> looks very promising. $1000 is the lowest minimum we've seen so far
> and $500 up front is do-able although possible awkward. Big down side
> is that WE may be the ones who act as cashier!
This sounds like much more trouble than it's worth, very much a deal
breaker.
> If we're looking for a cocktail-only type of Celebration, any of the
> above could work if they are willing to take our money for the bar
> business.
We'd have to ask if the crowd would potentially want to be standing a
lot, that just how bars seem to me. I think sit down food is essential
for me. Perhaps we should be saying, bring sneakers?
> We would need enough people to bring cash for repaying the person who
> paid the $500 deposit and everyone else can pay the restaurant.
This sounds concerning to me, why can't credit cards be taken? And very
cumbersome. How do you prorate the amounts each person should pay the
individuals concerned. I'm not favoring this. I'm not seeing many
getting on board.
> They want 21% gratuity.
That is kind of stiff in my opinion, I'd be willing to go 1&%.
> Would the Peppemill be an option?
As I've said before it's not a very big venue and kind of cramped, I
don't know if they would even set aside space given the amount of walk
in business they get. I admit I have not eaten there in a number of
years. The food is very good. It is kind of off the beaten track, bit
still on the Strip, yes some parking lots and a bus stop nearby but not
near the monorail.
I would say the Circus Circus is looking fine, I stop in there every so
often, I find it's actually quite well maintained, the bathrooms are
very clean, I stop in to play video games and see circus acts on
occasion, not too far from my home.

Celebration thoughts:
Holly writes:
If the goal is QST, then not a fan of Brooklyn Bowl... it's noisy. It's
a bowling alley for Pete's sake!
The Hofbrauhaus is also notorious for being a loud environment, not to
mention they don't seem that interested in working with us.
The Yardhouse may work if,
a) they will work with us re: menu and non-dining customers and
b) I have a bit of a concern as to if they can keep us together as a
group and not put us all over the facility.
The Peppermill while nostalgic for some of us has a fairly small lounge.
Socializing would certainly be up close and personal.
Bahama Breeze has always been winner. I know there is resistance to
visiting the same venue twice but we have done it before (KKK, ie). I
think it foolish to reject or lessen it as a possibility simply because
we have been there before.
What's the goal of the 20 Year Celebration? Is it an adventure to
explore new locations? Or do we want to provide an environment where
DLVer's share one another's company while enjoying reasonably priced
drink and food?
I don't have any personal experience with the other venues mention so I
will just say no comment to them. My $.02.

Annie responds:
Thanks, Holly.
To answer the purpose of the Celebration, and anyone please feel free to
chime in here, it's primarily social and celebratory. Food would be nice
to have, but if the meal arrangements will be a deterrent to attending,
then I don't think food would be in our best interest.
What I personally want to see is a maximum level of turnout, enjoyment,
and satisfaction as we celebrate our 20th. year of doing this.
