Various updates:

There was no ORG mailing last week. Nope, you didn't miss anything. :)
. . . . .

Thanks to Michelle (the "other" Michelle) for reporting a system issue
(script erroring out on a minor syntax error) which was found to be
affecting a number of items, some not so obvious. Two were the auto
updating of the Big List ratings and comments and the most-recent photo
comments. Another not so obvious one affected the gatewaying of e-mail
to the Discussion Forum and Yahoo.

If something systems-wise does not appear to be working, please report
it! Most issues are very easy to check out and troubleshoot, but if they
are not reported, they can go undetected for months! :(
. . . . .

Our "Dining and Lodging Survey" is set to conclude this coming Sunday
and we'll report the results in next week's ORG mailing.

If you haven't taken this yet, please do so. Surf here:

As of this morning we have 68 responses. This is a very good response
rate for such an ad-hoc survey and in the same order of magnitude as our
DLV 2015 survey, which had 77 responses. This will most definitely give
us some valid data on both of the topics.

Limo comments:

Vera writes:

There's something also about the dynamics involved in the interactions
of the people watching a bunch of limos drive up to a hotel and they
wonder which star or stars will emerge from the back seat.

Is it Caitlyn? Is it Cher?

They "oooh and aww" as a bunch of gorgeous looking women dressed to the
9's step out from the limo (hopefully one of them is not carrying a
Dixie cup full of pee.. LOL) and strut their stuff where they get mobbed
for photos.

Aleta writes:

I'm not really into a party bus trip. But I am thinking about using Uber
XL or Uber Select (just started today), or Lyft SUV. (I have accounts
with both.) Lyft now is licensed to operate at McCarran Airport.

Marisa writes:

I agree with Cami on the big limo party vehicle, having more comfortable
space and friends for socializing, ice chests(BYOB), less traffic /
parking issues and then provide long black limos for those that need
them.

A 30+ passenger party limo can be rented for $150 an hour. $150 x 3
hours=$450 + 20% tip =$540. That's less than $20 for each rider and
making it affordable for most any DLVer. They say it's hard to find a
one with a bathroom though.

I'm excited about the Audrey Hepburn event since I just bought a Holly
Golightly long dress that would be fun to be in for a "Breakfast at
Tiffany's" stop at Caesars Forum Shops. It appears as if I just offered
to assist with the Audrey event.

RE: Limos vs. party buses. Remembering back to our last limo tour and
comparing it the Wildside party bus, I must agree with Annie. There's a
different vibe. The 7 in the limo made it a more intimate encounter.
While the 30+/- on the party bus was far from intimate if u didn't know
the other girls. It was more like ---wait for it--- a party!

Katie writes:

I agree with Ginger. A bus ride slotted into the Limo Tour would not
give me that Upscale Evening out in Vegas feeling.

We could however insert a single Stretched Hummer limo into the line up
for those who want or possibly need it. But just one. I think the
traditional Stretchies in Vegas are far nicer and a lot more intimate
than anything a Hummer or shuttle styled bus would do for me.

I was thinking of doing the Limo Tour again this coming year as it has
been a few years since I did it and this would give me the opportunity
to wear a long evening dress one more time during DLV week and not feel
like I am out of place or over dressed .. (lol, Which I often do) but if
we use a bus then I will pass on that one. This may suit others but It
would just not be fun for me.

Annie writes:

Although there are stated preferences for both types of vehicles (long
black car and party bus) there does appear to be a preference for the
long black car.

The bottom line on this is that it will be up to those who volunteer to
coordinate the Limo Tour, should it happen this year, to decide upon the
details of the activity, including the vehicle types.

Thanks to all for their opinions on this subject.

I'm fine with this, no objections.

Agreed as always.

> "PS - the puppets show is still on-going."

I was actually thinking about seeing this show. Sounds interesting to
me. But I read it's no longer playing here in Las Vegas as far as I can
tell.
. . . . . . . . . .

Dionne is reporting that the puppet show is still ongoing at the EHM and
may not appear as a separate item on local event listings.

It may or may not be part of the available items when we do the EHM
activity this spring.

Bare Minerals:

Dionne writes:

Update on Bare Minerals.

I spoke with Cindy, the Store Manager. I let her know we support her
request for open booking style of making appointments during DLV 2016.
She was pleased to hear this reply.

For registration, we can have a signup with reminders. Maybe these
reminders initially say call the store then reset a 'flag' to remind
them of their appointment after it is made. She suggested she would
feedback to me on a bi-weekly basis of who made appointments.

She's waiting on approval from her District Manager on the classes and
possible freebies.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

It's really up to you as to how many and how frequent the reminders will
be for making the appointment. If we do multiple reminders, we do need
to get prompt feedback when an appointment is made to avoid annoying
multiple reminders.

We can do a final appointment reminder at the time of the Final Attendee
Info.

What I do think is a very good idea is to have something like a "Doing
Brows" workshop sometime toward the beginning of the week. Having an
open activity such as that can get people comfortable with the shop and
more likely to book (and keep) appointments.

Parking rumor:

Dionne writes:

Back in 2008 MGM was the first to have resort fees and most other
properties on the Strip followed suit with those cursed resort fees.

Now they are rumored to setup fees for parking at all MGM properties,
including NY NY and Monte Carlo resorts. No more free self park! You pay
to play before you go inside.

MGM has a new 20,000 seat arena soon to be completed and that seems to
be the motivation since parking will be at a premium. It's likely that
MGM will be the domino that starts a park for fee conversion along the
Strip. The timeframe has not been set but might be in place during DLV
2016.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks for the report, Dionne.

MGM apparently did a "trial balloon" of paid parking for hotel guests
when they converted The Hotel to Delano, and it was met with many many
complaints.

They do have this big new arena with not a single spot of guest parking
and it's obvious that a major event in the arena will limit parking for
hotel guests and gaming customers.

The chit-chat on the LV talk boards speculates that one of two solutions
will be implemented:

1. Paid parking for EVERYONE, including hotel guests, casino patrons,
and even "whales" and invited guests. (Yeah, fat chance!)

2. Paid parking for events, and controlled validated parking for hotel
guests and bona fide casino and dining patrons. (More likely)

Paid parking is not unknown to Las Vegas. Most downtown properties have
some kind of controlled parking and pay lots do a good business.

Closer to the Strip, the old Las Vegas Hilton (now the Westgate) was
known to charge for parking when major events were happening at the
adjacent Las Vegas Convention Center. The Westgate is said to be going
to gated controlled parking with validated parking for bona fide guests
and paid parking for conventioneers.

We won't know if any of this will affect DLVers until some definite
plans are announced.
