This is the DLV 2015 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg_at_geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not

Last Call:
Our final general mailing prior to this year's event goes out this
coming Saturday and the Final Attendee Information is scheduled to open
up this coming Monday.
That means that this is LAST CALL for any schedule additions and
changes, as well as items to be included in the Final Attendee Info and
just about any other item that needs to be done!
. . . . .
This is actually a shorter mailing than most, mainly due to the fact
that for the most part, all bases are covered.
We do, however, still have some work to do and some blanks to be filled
in.
. . . . .
One important reminder! Nobody's being snubbed! If you sent in anything
and don't see at least a reference to it, it could be a technical issue,
human error, or any of several issues. Please be assured that nobody is
intentionally being ignored!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Volunteers needed:
There are a few areas in which we are still badly in need for
volunteers, mostly to cover individual sessions of some of the smaller
activities.
We would most like to see those of you who are not yet doing an activity
this year (you know who you are, and we do too) :) to step forward and
grab some of these. Your efforts will be appreciated by all and this is
a very easy path to voting status!
We would hate to have to cancel any scheduled activities due to lack of
volunteers to host(ess) them!
. . . . .
First of all, some bad news. Ginger will not be with us this year. It's
an unforeseen personal schedule issue. Those wishing details can please
contact Ginger directly. This is a one-time absence and not a drop-out.
She is eagerly awaiting Pinkfest this fall and DLV next spring!
This means that the six scheduled sessions of Lunch With Ginger now have
no host(ess).
Beverly is willing to take Monday.
I (Annie) am willing to take Thursday.
We can probably scratch Sunday with no issues since lunch on Sunday has
been low-attended in recent years. Wednesday can also probably be
scratched because we have the other lunch (EHM) on the schedule.
This leaves Tuesday and Friday.
Tuesday is scheduled for the Flamingo Buffet and Friday is scheduled for
the Food Court at Fashion Show Mall. If you take either or both of
these, you can select different venues if you wish. You can also name
the activity "Lunch With {YOU}" if you like.
I would go as far as to say that you don't really have to eat if you
don't want to. All you really need to do is be present on or before the
start time (noon), greet the others, direct traffic, answer questions,
and steer the gang in the right direction. This is a very good
opportunity for a new volunteer to get her feet wet and get voting
status!
. . . . . . . . . .
We have two Afternoon social sessions, Thursday and Friday, which need a
host(ess).
This, again, is very low-maintenance. All you need to do is to be
present at the venue (Chayo at the Linq) at the designated time
(5:00pm), greet the others, do introductions if needed, etc. No heavy
lifting! You don't even have to drink if you don't want to. Again, easy
ticket to voting status!
. . . . . . . . . .
Last but not least we have two later-evening Dancing At Paris sessions
which need a host(ess), Tuesday and Thursday. Once again, very low
maintenance! Major duty is to be there (Cabaret Lounge) at the posted
start time (10:00pm) to greet the others. You really don't have to stick
around that long if you really don't want to. They have a posted two
drink minimum but I've never seen it enforced, so you probably don't
have to drink if you don't want to.
This was a very well attended recurring activity last year and we would
like to see it happen most evenings this year as well.
Please consider taking on a session of one of the above! :)

Activity sign-up notes:
Annie writes:
Activity sign-up has been going smoothly.
As of this point in time we can say that over 90% of the activity
sign-ups that will come in are in. For those of you who are watching
your activity's sign-up numbers, please use that 90% figure to estimate
your total expected turnout.
As of this writing we have 37 outstanding sign-ups, many of which
surprisingly have some very familiar names! (AHEM!) Unfortunately, many
of those, probably the majority, will end up being cancelled due to lack
of response.
One pattern to be aware of or reminded of is that those who sign up for
activities late in the cycle tend to be the ones who participate in few,
if any, of the optional activities for which a sign-up is needed.
Most of the major activities have sign-up counts in the ballpark of what
was expected.
However, there are a few activities that have surprisingly low sign-up
counts, those being the previously extremely popular High Tea, Shooting,
and Pole Dancing.
One other interesting observation this year is that several of the
sign-up activities have only returnee sign-ups on them. Sunday Cinema,
Art Of Shibari, Pamplemousse, Trap and Pistol Shooting, Looking Glass
Open House, High Tea and Fragrance Seminar all lack any newcomers as of
this time! I don't really know the significance of this, but it is an
item I noticed.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Contact phone numbers:
We always list at least three contact phone numbers in the event the
attendees need to get in touch with us. We always like to have at least
one which is a local call from Las Vegas.
In addition, we always want one number in the event of a Big Sister
issue.
Here are the existing phone volunteers and the numbers on file:
Annie: xxx-xxx-3227 (local call from Las Vegas)
Beverly: xxx-xxx-7567 (long distance from Las Vegas)
Bob: xxx-xxx-7479 (local call from Las Vegas)
Vera: xxx-xxx-1050 (long distance from Las Vegas)
Big Sister Hotline:
Delaney: xxx-xxx-0500 (long distance from Las Vegas)
If any of these are incorrect, need to be updated, or if you just don't
feel like doing this again this year, please let us know by this weekend.
Also, if anyone wants to specifically volunteer to have their phone
number listed, please let us know. This will go out only to DLV
attendees and will not be in a public section of the web.
Volunteers can expect to receive a few calls, usually questions along
the line of "where" and "when" for such activity.
The numbers are taken down from the screen when the event has concluded.
We also like to publish as many of the Coordinator cell phone numbers
as we can on the final schedule. There will be a special ORG mailing
on this topic, and on Coordinator photos, coming out shortly.

Once again, with four-part harmony and feeling this time:
Wait 'till it comes around again on the git-tar ... :)
No, don't wait, actually. :)
Thanks for those who gave our final schedule the once over. There were a
number of items corrected. There still may be a few incorrect items, so
we're asking all, particularly those coordinating activities to give
this one more look-over.
http://www.geekbabe.com/cgi-bin/dlv/custom1.cgi?startdate=&enddate=&mapsymbol=on&cost=on&meet=on&duration=on&exposure=on&coordinator=on&coordphone=on&coordava=on&signup=on&address=on&phone=on&monorail=on&taxi=on&parking=on&dress=on&links=on¬es=on&across=2&fontfamily=times+new+roman&fontsize=90
The item we particularly need to watch out for is misinformation! We got
gigged on a wrong place to meet the group for one activity last year.
If you sent in a correction and don't see it applied, please resend with
the EXACT correction very explicitly noted with NO OTHER items such as
screen shots, quoted stale messages, etc. please.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Pre-DLV:
We would like to have the venue and time for the Pre-DLV gathering
solid by the time the last general mailing goes out this Saturday.
We'll do additional ORG mailings if necessary if we need to get a
consensus.
Please continue to discuss. :)

Dionne writes:
> Shall we try out Satay or Fire Fly for Saturday pre-DLV?
I love both places for their good food and service. The bar & dining
area will be less crowded if we go to Satay. The FireFly is usually
packed with a long wait time on Saturday nights.
Would anyone like to try a new place in the same area? Urban Turban,
3900 Paradise rd., Indian food Phone: (702) 826-3216 Hours: 11:00 am

. . . . . . . . . .
Annie responds:
I am for the venue that gives us the best opportunity for Quality Social
Time, and therefore the best chance for a good turnout. I am personally
only familiar with the set-up at one of the three (Firefly) and, IMAO,
it does have a bar which is conducive to the type of social interaction
that we want.
I know I used the term "Bar" here, and the object of the gathering is
not to get totally wasted, but a good bar is what we need for Quality
Social Time. Food is secondary. It's nice to have and everyone needs to
eat.
I'll need to defer to those who know all three venues as to which has
the best potential to bring our people out.
Comments please.

Audrey Tour:
Marisa writes:
I see now that Holly has a capacity for 50 on the wheel and dining, so
that should leave room for anybody that wants to do something Thursday
night.
Is there enough interest in a Audrey tour yet?
Groups can take a limo ride most anytime they can just get together and
split the cost for less than $10 each to almost anywhere. A party bus
that holds up to 30 people can be arranged for in an hour (its better to
arrange it earlier in the day for the night if a fancy one is wanted) at
a rate of $185 a hour most anytime too.
. . . . . . . . . .
Beverly responds:
One thought I had in regards to the Audrey Tour was having a stop at the
High Roller big wheel at 9:30 and being part of the group riding it
then. Afterwards the Audrey tour could continue on or conclude then.
. . . . . . . . . .
Annie responds:
I would think that there would be enough interest for an Audrey Tour but
the important thing is to have a volunteer agree to take it on and make
it happen.
I would like to see a new(er) volunteer take this on, but if you
(Marisa) want to do it, there's nothing stopping you. We just need
someone to commit and it can go on the schedule.
IMAO, such a thing is very scalable and will work with most any size of
group from a handful to a small mob.
Now, as to trying to sync two groups of our people to meet up with one
another at a specific point in time, when we've tried it in the past, it
never seemed to work. We've always had one of the groups waiting around
for an attention-span-exceeding length of time.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
High Tea and Shooting:
Vanessa writes:
I don't get to Vegas until Tuesday early afternoon and the first events
I will be there for is Brazilia Cocktails and Dinner Tuesday evening.
I would really appreciate it if your could talk up the Trap Shooting and
High Tea... especially the Tea as we only have 7 signed up so far and
that will not allow the event to go forward. At that point you can
collect the $50 or have them meet me at the EHM on Wednesday afternoon
and pay. Let's hope they start signing up.
. . . . . . . . . .
Annie responds:
Yes, I'll agree to promote both of these at the opening gathering on
Monday and yes, I'll be happy to collect for you.
Looking at the numbers you quoted, the minimum to make it work seems to
be 15 and the maximum appears to be 20.
If you will phone me on Monday evening (keep trying if you get stuck in
Voice Mail Jail) I can tell you where things stand in the event you need
to make a last-minute go/no-go decision on the High Tea.
