Just over two weeks to go:

18 days on the counter! Everybody is getting excited. :)

This is by far the shortest ORG mailing for quite some time. This is
good since it indicates that many items are taken care of. :)

When viewing the event from an organizational standpoint, we are in good
shape assuming we do not lose any major activity or volunteer.

Our jobs over the next two weeks or so fall along the line of dotting
the "Ts", crossing the "Is", and filling in the blanks.

If anyone notices anything wrong, any snag, or anything that is not
right, please speak up sooner rather than later.

Due to the decreasing lead time, our ORG mailings may be made at any
time necessary, so please watch those inboxes and please be sure to
respond if your name is called.

It's not too late to add additional acvitivies with one caveat, and that
is that anything added to the schedule between now and show time will
need to be "no sign-up, just show up" in nature. Past history has shown
that the response to a newly-added sign-up on the screen or an out of
procedure manual sign-up will be abysmal.
. . . . . . . . . .

All of the edits and such which were sent in that were critical for the
activity sign-up have been done. There are a few others, mostly schedule
items, which have been held off.

The correct venue for Trap Shooting is the Clark County Shooting
Complex. Please disregard any other previously-announced or posted
venues for this activity.

Activity sign-up is underway:

Have YOU signed up for activities yet? :) We have a number of very
visible volunteers whose sign-ups are still outstanding! :)

Big thanks go out to those who helped to shake down the updated activity
sign-up system. Mailings went out last Sunday and the response was
immediate. The first reminder is scheduled to go out Friday.

As of this writing we have a total of 129 registrations, 25 of which
include a SO, for a total registered headcount of 154. Of the 129
registrations, 71 have responded at least once to the activity sign-up
request, so we can assume that a bit more than half of the sign-ups that
will come in are in.

The activities with the highest sign-ups, as expected, are the two major
dinners. "Anchor" activities, High Roller and Fantasy Ball, have their
expected level of sign-up.

Also as of this writing, the only "virgin" activity is one of the
sessions of the BE Makeovers, which will certainly gain some people as
the other sessions fill. All activities have attracted at least some
degree of interest. :)

The only activity which is full as of this writing is Stephanie
Makeovers.

The capacity warning and automatic "full" notice appear to be working
fine.

One pattern that is quite obvious this year is attendees going back and
adding/changing activities far more frequently than in the past.

Final Attendee Information:

Annie writes:

This is one of our major tasks over the next week or so.

We want to get this solid a bit earlier in the process this year.

We'll be calling upon the Proofread Team as well as calling out to some
of you directly as this is composed and put to bed.

The one very important item is the final schedule. The below URL is
quite long, but will hopefully be clickable in most mailers.

We're asking all to please take a look at this, particularly those who
are activity Coordinators:

http://www.geekbabe.com/cgi-bin/dlv/custom1.cgi?startdate=&enddate=&mapsymbol=on&cost=on&meet=on&duration=on&exposure=on&coordinator=on&coordphone=on&coordava=on&signup=on&address=on&phone=on&monorail=on&taxi=on&parking=on&dress=on&links=on&notes=on&across=2&fontfamily=times+new+roman&fontsize=90

The item we particularly need to watch out for is misinformation! We got
gigged on a wrong place to meet the group for one activity last year.

We have 89 line items for activities this year, and we do need to give
things a good once-over as it's very easy for things to slip through the
cracks.

One limitation we have is the width of the various fields, and related
things such as real estate on the schedule displays. There seems to be a
tendency to want to put more and more detail in there (I'm very much
guilty of this too) and there are some hard and practical limits.

One request I have is that when sending in corrections, please be VERY
VERY VERY explicit regarding EXACTLY what is incorrect and what needs to
be changed. There's a tendency to copy quite a bit of info in addition
to the errors when submitting update requests. I would ask you to please
send in something like this:

WRONG TEXT: Meet in the main bar area downstairs
SHOULD BE: Meet in the main reception area upstairs

An explicit correction as above, with no unnecessary text, will be very
helpful in cleaning and polishing the final schedule.

Thanks to all for your cooperation. :)

Audrey Tour:

Marisa writes:

I like it that we are going to Trevi for the farewell. The diners by
the entrance will get a thrill as we all walk by though!

Now that Trevi got moved, Thursday evening doesn't have very many
options or the observation wheel could get lots of people! Could we put
together something like the Audrey tour last year?

Bev did a great job with it last year when it was left for dead. We
could go from Rome (Fizz at Caesers) to Venice (Madame Tussauds -
Zeffirino) to dancing at Paris.

Waiting limos are usually always available at the casinos for pickup and
drop like the group did last year. The 7 passenger suv limos at Caesers
Forum shops will go anywhere on the strip for $45+ tip. A 10 passenger
limo at Paris charges $75 for pick & drop or $110 for a one hour strip
tour. Or to make it simple,a group could dine at Paris, take the one
hour tour (time can be added) and end up back at Paris. Co-hosts needed
if this would work.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Yes, the "sliding" of Trevi to Friday left the High Roller track as a
defacto single-track evening, the way it stands now.

I agree that Trevi is a great choice for the final evening. It's been a
proven favorite of our gang for several years, plus it gives the folks
more of what they expect in terms of an appetizer/salad/entree/dessert
type of menu as opposed to the buffet planned for M'ville and the
"family style" we had last year.
. . . . .

Yes, something like an Audrey Tour would be a welcome addition to the
Thursday evening lineup. It would not have the drawing power to siphon
people away from the featured "anchor" activity of the evening, but
would provide a meaningful and enjoyable experience for some of those
who have chosen not to participate in the High Roller track.

That's the good news. :)

The bad news is, it's too late to get a sign-up or headcount for
something like this. However, for an informal activity such as this, it
really does not need one. We'll also need someone to commit to hosting
(hostessing) it.

The Audrey Tour for 2014 scored a perfect 5.0 for both enjoyment and
comfort! This is highly unusual for an activity with so many responses
as any singular lower rating would have spoiled it. It definitely rates
repeating for 2015.

Volunteers? (And how about some of you who are not coordinating anything
so far?) :)

Pre-DLV on Saturday:

Marisa writes:

Shall we try out Satay or Fire Fly for Saturday pre-DLV?
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

They're both in the same general area of each other. Both are an easy
drive or taxi ride from Paris/Flamingo and not too bad from downtown.

I'm for the one (or any other option) that gives us our best level of
participation. Which one of these has the better bar?

Comments?
