Org List:

This is the DLV 2015 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg_at_geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Getting close:

We are now 3 1/2 weeks out from the big event and (once again!) things
are shaping up nicely.

There have been many changes to our schedule since the last mailing,
most of them having to do with activity sign-up. Please see the working
schedule below.

Thanks to those who have added additional activities to the schedule and
those who have provided details to get activity sign-up ready to go!
. . . . .

Thanks go out to all who wrote the Activity Highlights for the
Discussion Forum! As of this writing the Golf highlight is the leader
with 13 replies and 267 viewings, not counting viewings via e-mail and
on the Yahoo side. Pamplemousse and Katie's Koffee Korner also have
multiple replies and viewings in the three figures, again not counting
e-mail and Yahoo.

Keep 'em coming, please! :)
. . . . .

Latest numbers:

The flood gates are open. Since we opened up general registration on
the 15th., the validated headcount has now zoomed to 145.

SO count is now 23.

We're now at the point we can begin to speculate about what our total
headcount will be. Of the 145 signed up, the machine says that 119 of
them will show. These two numbers will appear to diverge over the next
weeks as most of the later registrants are "cold newcomers" who have the
poorest show-up rate.

If the rate of registrations remains more or less consistent, we can
expect to see something in the range of 145-160 people in attendance,
or about the same as we had last year.

I (Annie) am hoping that we can get the number registered and the number
present to agree more closely this year. We excluded a number of chronic
no-shows from our re-registration invite this year, and added a few
preliminary screens to the new attendee registration which emphasize a
few important aspects of our event and discourage frivolous
registration. Hopefully we can keep the hardcore no-shows down a bit
this year!

Activity sign-up ready to test:

Thanks to all who provided the necessary information to get activity
sign-up rolled out on schedule!

Most of you on the ORG list can expect to receive a sign-up "reminder"
very shortly, no later than mid-day Thursday. If you don't receive this,
please be assured that it's not a snub but due to any of several
circumstances such as your e-mail address for this list not matching the
one on your registration. If this is the case, simply go back to your
Attendee Information Portal and you should see the now-green Activity
Sign-up tile.

Please consider the sign-up test to be "for real" and as DLV volunteers
(and rightly so!) you get "head of line" status for your efforts.

The sign-up system had a major revamp over the slow season, so it may
look a little bit different (cleaner) than you may remember.

If you should get a grey "Sign-up not open yet" tile instead of the
green "Activity Sign-Up" tile, please report it immediately. Other items
you should please look for include:

1. Spelling, grammatical errors, factual errors, typos, etc.
2. Error messages, unexpected output or display.
3. Ergonomic issues, anything that makes it difficult to use.
4. Formatting or display errors. Anything that looks wonky.
5. Date/time errors, activity detail errors, etc.
6. Activities which need a sign-up which are not on the screen.

Please pay particular attention to the "capacity remaining" function,
which is new this year and pulls in real time from the database, and
the summary page which is totally new this year.

Friday changes:

Apologies if anyone feels left out of the loop on this one, but it
happened after last week's ORG mailing. Since this is a major function
and needed to be put on the fast track, we got the key players who have
worked on it together and took care of it off line. Normally we would
have brought it to the attention of the ORG group as a whole but the
clock was (and still is) ticking.

Here's the short version of the story. Anyone needing further details,
please let us know.

The "new improved management" at Margaritaville is refusing to honor
some of the agreed-upon item regarding our final evening. The most
important of these is that they will not allow those not purchasing the
dinner to attend as bar-only customers. They are very hard-line on this
and will not budge!

Therefore we have dropped Margaritaville from our Friday schedule and
took action to "slide" the Thursday dinner at Trevi over to Friday and
expand it.

Some of the details are still to be worked out as of this writing, but
even the worst cases are better than what we ended up with at M'ville.

Trevi is a long-term proven favorite of our gang with the last three
survey scores of 4.64/4.65 4.57/4.75 and 4.79/4.92 for enjoyment and
comfort (out of 5 possible).

Since Trevi is located next to the fountain in the complex, it gives us
a very attractive background for a second Official Group Photo.

The details on Trevi may appear a bit sketchy at this time on the
activity sign-up screen. We'll fill in the missing info ASAP.

If anyone has any objections to the Trevi plan for Friday evening,
please say so (and quickly, please) and please prepare to offer an
alternative.

Update on activities:

Valorie (with the "o") writes:

Pole Dancing instruction will be Thursday, 4pm at Pole Fitness Studio.
I have made the deposit and we are all set to go. Ideally we would get
15-20 people. If we have less than 15 signup I may have to do a little
negotiating to keep the cost at $35 (usually it goes up to $40). This
will require signup.

I am going to have a "Mainstream Clubbing" event but I don't think it
will require a signup, just people going out for fun. The top candidates
are Club XS at the Wynn on, Hyde at the Belagio on Tuesday, but I am
open to suggestions.
. . . . .

Thanks, Valorie.

If you don't need a sign-up for the mainstream clubbing, the decision
on location is not critical at this time. Please let us know when you
do decide.

Cami writes:

I wanted to give you an update as of today:

1. Wig Seminar- Wendi Barker will again host a Wig Seminar with an
opportunity to purchase wigs following the seminar. It will be at the
Spotlight Lounge at 1:30PM. I'd like to get a rough count of those
attending.

2. "Get Your Nails On"- Wendy will also be available for those who want
to have acrylic nails or a manicure done. This will be by appointment on
Monday AM and possibly other timeframes. Location to be determined (I am
trying to get a breakout room or equivalent at Flamingo.

If not available this event will not occur as she doesn't want to go to
someone's room. Reservation will be done thru Wendi directly.

3. Raiding the Rock Vault Concert Show- 9:00 PM at the Tropicana
Showroom, Tropicana 3801 S. Las Vegas Blvd.. For those signed up you
must sign up in advance and pre-pay via Paypal to (the address on the
sign-up screen). Cost will be $57 per ticket. (If I can find a cheaper
deal I will refund the difference).

4. I think I am still going to organize a pre concert dinner for those
who have signed up for the concert at the Tropicana at the Bacio Italian
Restaurant with a price fix of $49 with concert ticket. 6:00 PM
Cocktails, Dinner at 6:45 PM.

5. Cami's High End Dinner can now be listed as "Dinner at the Famous
Palm Restaurant" in the Forum Shops at Caesars. 3500 So. Las Vegas
Blvd.. Cocktails at 6 PM, Dinner at 7PM. Maximum 12, most sign up. Price
range $100+ between drinks and food.

6. Pin Ball Hall of Fame Museum. Thursday at 1:30 PM. 1610 East
Tropicana Ave. 702-597-2627. NO entree fee, but obviously you are
encouraged to play some machines. I'd like to get a rough count of those
attending.
. . . . .

Thanks, Cami.

Please look over the schedule and sign-up screens to be sure that
everything is in order.

Trap and Tea and discussion:

Vanessa writes:

OK I have both the Trap Shooting set for Thursday morning @ 9am at the
Clark County Shooting Complex and the High Tea set for for Friday
afternoon @ 2 pm at the Veranda at the Four Seasons.....

I will accept Pay Pal for reservations and payments on both events as
well as be at the Lunch With Ginger on Wednesday and at the EHM
Wednesday afternoon for anyone that wants to pay cash for either
activity.

Hopefully it we talk the activities up (especially the High Tea) I can
get enough reservations to cover the costs..... I can cancel the High
Tea till Monday (March 23) without any penalty or charge if we simply do
not have a large enough group to cover the costs. High Tea capacity is
20.....

Trap Shooting capacity at this point is 15... may expand group if good
response.

As to the High Tea the issue is not really whether we serve a Champagne
High Tea at $50 per person or whether we serve a Standard High Tea for
$35 per person...and regardless of how many girls attend we have to
generate a food bill of $750 to which they will tack on the gratuity and
taxes of 20+% which according to the Four Seasons calculations with 15
attendees paying $61 each covers the minimum cost of $915..... at 20
attendees it is $45 each.... my concern is that in the past few years
that I attended the high tea I have not seen more than 15 present. I
hope we can talk up the event to get 20 girls to attend so that we can
maintain a $45 cost. Let me talk to the hotel and see what I can do.
. . . . . . . . . .

Katie writes:

High Tea.

The over $60 price tag a jump of $15-$20 in one year suggests to me that
they are dumping on us because of the nature of our group. I suggest we
tell them we are not interested anymore.

I have an intense dislike for establishments which do that so I stop
going there and so should we. I loved the 2 High Tea's I did but will
not miss it if we stop going.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks for the clarification on the High Tea pricing.

We'll post your included text as Activity Highlights in the Discussion
Forum, which can help generate interest in these two activities.

Another means that may get the headcount up is to promote the activity
(actually both of them) and sell "tickets" at the opening gathering.

Regarding attitude and pricing, I honestly do not think the nature of
our group has any bearing on price points and terms. I think it's more
of an effect of the changing market conditions in Las Vegas. We are
still accustomed to the "buyer's market" conditions which existed from
2008 to 2012 or so. It's now a "seller's market" and prices will rise
and terms will tighten. We saw the same with Margaritaville.

Afternoon social:

Marisa writes:

Thoughts for the afternoon social location; Chayo, Patio Bar or 3535.

Whats the goal? The Patio Bar may be the best if the group just wants to
meet for a quick drink and leave together for an activity.

Chayo; Lots of people around, between Linq and Flamingo, not close to
taxis or parking, HH 3-6 with 2 for 1 margeritas, full menu, large
restaurant.

3535 at Linq; very close to taxi and limo stand, no food, very open to
public, big selection of $7 infused shots $5 beer $8 wine, no HH price,
table games.

Patio Bar at Flamingo; close to parking garage and limo/taxi stand,
adjacent to Club Cappiccino with sandwiches, donuts and other treats,
patio seating with view of Flamingo gardens, lots of DLVers staying at
the hotel here.

Katie; A restaurant is being worked on where Betty's had been. They
didn't know what it will be.
. . . . . . . . . .

Comments, ladies?

This is not time-critical (at this time) so we can discuss this and firm
up what we think is the most conducive to getting a good turnout from
our people.
