Final Friday evening:

This mailing deals with one topic, the plans for Friday evening for DLV
2015.

Please read this mailing promptly and thoroughly as we have some
decisions to make in a timely manner.

Also please continue to keep a regular eye on those inboxes in the event
some highly time-sensitive items occur.
. . . . .

The good news is that we have a good list of options to consider, and a
volunteer to take the lead on one of them, which does look promising as
it was suggested independently by two of our people. We also have one
other tentative lead-taker.

We have some important discussion and some decisions to make regarding
our options.

Comments are needed, additional volunteers are of course most
appropriate and appreciated!

Someone, I believe it was Vera, has suggested Hofbrauhaus as a possible
spot for the Friday evening Final Dinner.

I love that idea as I have never eaten there but heard so many good
reports about it. So if it can hold all of us I think it would be a
great spot. What do you think Vera? Want to run with it? I would be
willing to co-hostess it with you and Dennis.

I am also glad to see that Wednesday activities at EHM and KOH look like
they are starting to firm up. I know the outcome of those activities
affect many other activities.

Closing gathering thoughts:

Cami writes:

As for the farewell dinner she (Giada staff) suggested that I speak with
the salesperson at Margaritaville.

They can offer us the second floor fully glassed room with a balcony
that overlooks the strip. We can have cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres
if we want and then a buffet dinner. She is providing pricing at $25,
$35, and $45 as well as hors d'oeuvres.

It could be a great option for us and a lot of fun. Privacy as always
would be an issue for some but there's really nothing we can do.

They do require a 50 percent deposit on a guaranteed number of people of
the meal price. I can cover that but would need some guidance from you
as to what number to use.

Obviously, I don't want to get burned. They seemed really willing to
work with us and I think it could be a fabulous option for our dinner.

Correction ("brain f*rt") :)

I meant Monday instead of the Friday's entry sorry.

Here is Robyn's corrected text:

Has everybody forgot the reason we hold the (gathering) on MONDAY at BB.
It is that it is one of there slowest days and the management can give
us our musician and the great room. That is a direct quote from
management.

Bahama Breeze - I would not be averse to opening and closing at the same
venue, especially when it really works well for our needs.

If we're scrambling at the last minute, then that may be the best
solution. My only recommendation would be to consider themes for the
different nights (ie - tropical, LBD, all-out glamour, etc) in order to
create some sense of differentiation.

However, if this HofbrauHaus has been vetted, I would support that
option as well.

Vera writes:

Also I like the Hof Brau Haus idea for an opener. We've always enjoyed
dining there. It's friendly, yes loud, but I found Carmine's to be just
as loud.

The following was received by Beverly as a sidebar to the group room
reservation at the Flamingo:

Hello,

I wanted to see if you have any dining or event needs while you are in
Las Vegas. Margaritaville can host a small group dinner of 15 people up
to a full venue buy out of 1300. We are attached to the Flamingo and
across the street from Caesars Palace ...

Please let me know if there may be an interest and I can send you more
information!

I look forward to hearing from you,

Marisa writes:

(Dr. Victoria) also said that a catered meal in the EHM lobby can be an
option for the farewell event.

C J suggested Tommy Bahama at Town Square for our farewell event.
. . . . . . . . . .

Dr. Victoria writes:

Museum is not equipped to handle the closing dinner event on Friday,
however Hustler has a new rooftop club with full length windows and an
open terrace overlooking the strip that is beautiful. Here is the
estimate for the dinner event at the FUSO ROOFTOP:

Estimate for Diva Dinner in Fuso Plated dinner $55 Per Person 2 hour
open Bar $50 per person Plus 20% Service charge Plus 8.1% TaxTotal for
200 people estimated $26,901 Food price includes 10 tables of 20,
chairs, linens, food servers and plated dinner by outside caterer. They
can cut open bar, but it would raise the food price due to most of the
food cost is for the food and rentals.

Beverly responds:

The Flamingo dining/hosting option for Friday looks good to me.

I must also comment that I will be very disappointed if the Friday night
closer ends up being back at Bahama Breeze. I think that will water down
the activity and may also cause some problems or complications from the
establishment in regards to Monday night's arrangement.

I feel selecting the BB twice is the 'easy way out' ...
. . . . .

Annie responds:

I agree with Beverly that a rewind-replay of the Bahama Breeze is not
one of our better options for the closing gathering on Friday.

I also want to say that I appreciate the work that Cami, Beverly,
Cynthia, Marisa, Dionne, and others have put forth in organizing our
major gatherings in recent years.

Now on the specific venues being discussed ...

(in order of suggestion)

1. Bahama Breeze. We have a motion pending on this one which can advance
to the floor if we get a volunteer to take the lead on it. We have
current warm-and-receptive contact information, so there will be no
awkward cold calling to make arrangements. We do have a volunteer for a
"second chair" on this, but nobody to take the lead.

If anyone want to take the lead on this, write in and we will give
contact details.

I personally do not like the idea of duplicating the venue for both of
our major gatherings. I believe that if we do so we run the risk of many
of our more gregarious attendees bailing on us, dining and socializing
elsewhere on our final evening. I think we also run the risk of OD-ing
on the venue and downgrading it from a perennial favorite to "same-old
same-old" status.
. . . . .

2. HofbrauHaus. We have enthusiastic suggestions but nobody has so far
volunteered to take the lead. We have a volunteer for second chair and a
suggestion for someone (or rather a couple) as a potential lead. We do
not have contact info, but the staff is aware of the nature of our group
and they have always been receptive and hospitable to us.

In our litany of options, I see this one as a strong second contender,
assuming the volunteer line-up can be firmed up.
. . . . .

3. Margaritaville. They have reached out to us asking for our business.

We also have a volunteer who is willing to run with it!

I believe Margaritaville is our most promising option at this time.

We can work with Cami on getting a realistic estimate on the number of
meals that will be sold. Off-line, we've had a volunteer to "share the
bath" with Cami if there is a bath to be taken. (She is free to identify
herself if she so wishes.)

A buffet dinner is a good option and has worked well at major gatherings
in the past.

The second level of Margaritaville is a good balance between
privacy/security and mainstreamness. (That must not be a word, ispell
keeps kicking it out!)
:)

Another very strong positive is that it adjoins the Flamingo where many
of our people will be staying, adding a convenience factor.

I do not see any obvious negatives with this option. (Any negatives,
anyone?)
. . . . .

4. EHM.

Moot. :)
. . . . .

5. Tommy Bahama.

My first thought, on reading this suggestion, was along the line of it
maybe being too much like Bahama Breeze. I think it may be worth
checking out if none of our other options turn out to be viable.
. . . . .

6. Fuso Rooftop:

$55 pp plus tax and tip comes to $70-ish per person, which would be
major sticker shock for many of our folks!

I really don't see it working with a limited menu at that price point.
. . . . .

Comments, please!

Any other suggestions, gang?
