Looking very good:

Many items in this mailing! Thanks go out to all who have stepped
forward to make things happen!

We are at the ten week mark.

A note and reminder to all, if anyone notices any issue with any of our
activities which puts it in jeopardy, such as an impending closure,
maybe some timing that will not work, or about anything, please bring it
to our attention as soon as you notice it.
. . . . . . . . . .

We broke 100 last Sunday.

We now have 103 signed up to attend, which includes 14 SOs. Most of
these are returnees. 20 are newcomers.

Speaking of which ...

There are a few VERY familiar names missing from the roster!

Have you registered? (>>HINT<<) :)

Schedule review:

The schedule has shaped up nicely. Let's review and see if there are any
weak spots and openings for various items that you may want to do.

All recent changes and additions should now appear here. Please scream
very loud if you notice anything missing or in error.

+Sunday, March 30:
+ 10:00am: Religious services (Metropolitan Community Church) - sv
+ 1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (Harrah's Buffet) - ms

+ 11:00pm: Beauty Bar (Beauty Bar) - ms

Sunday is close to solid!

We now have a "safe" evening activity for those who would be a bit shy
of Fremont street. A "safe" dining activity (Blue Ox, anyone?) would be
nice to have, which would segue into the Karaoke and socializing at
Phoenix.

We could use an additional dining option in the downtown area as well if
anyone wants to do it. We do have three strong downtown dining options
so this is not at all critical.
. . . . . . . . . .

Monday is close to solid as well.
. . . . . . . . . .

+Tuesday, April 1:
+ 7:30am: Katie's Koffee Korner (Quad - Betty's Cyber Cafe) - ms
+ 8:45am: Diva Las Vegas Invitational Golf (Wildhorse Golf Club) - ms

+ 9:00pm: Classic Rock and Roll (TBA) - sv
+ 9:30pm: Frank Marino Show (The Quad) - ms
+ 10:00pm: Dancing at Paris (Paris - Cabaret Lounge) - ms

With the addition of Classic R&R, Tuesday is shaping up nicely.

Golf, art, and makeovers round out the daytime. We have five strong
dining options.

There's room for one additional after-dinner activity. Wax Museum?
Audrey Tour?
. . . . . . . . . .

+Wednesday, April 2:
+ 7:30am: Katie's Koffee Korner (Quad - Betty's Cyber Cafe) - ms
+ 9:00am: Pistol and Rifle Shooting (TBA) - ms
+ 1:00pm: Lunch With Aejaie (Flamingo Buffet) - ms
+ 2:00pm: Pole Dance Instruction (Pole Fitness Studio) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Dinner (Pahrump Valley Winery) - ms
+ 7:30pm: Night of the Soiled Doves (Private facility) - mv
+ 10:00pm: Dancing at Paris (Paris - Cabaret Lounge) - ms

Wednesday has two strong daytime activities but there's room for others
as well. About anything would fit.

We could use a local dining option and some kind of a local evening
option opposite NSD, but we will understand if nobody wants to
volunteer for those timeslots. NSD is expected to be extremely popular
and is certain to draw a good percentage of our people.
. . . . . . . . . .

+Thursday, April 3:
+ 7:30am: Katie's Koffee Korner (Quad - Betty's Cyber Cafe) - ms
+ 9:00am: Red Rock Hiking and Photo Outing (Red Rock Canyon) - ms
+ 1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (Paris Buffet) - ms
+ 5:00pm: PF Chang Happy Hour (PF Chang - Planet Hollywood) - ms
+ 5:30pm: PF Chang Dinner (PF Chang - Planet Hollywood) - ms
+ 8:00pm: EHM Fantasy Ball (Erotic Heritage Museum) - mv
+ 10:00pm: Dancing at Paris (Paris - Cabaret Lounge) - ms

Thursday daytime could use some additional smaller activities. The dance
instruction would be a good fit here.

PF Chang can't hold our entire group, so a second dining option would
work, but we've gotten by single-tracking PF Changs before. See below.

Thursday evening is kind of like Wednesday evening in that there is one
very strong activity which is expected to attract the majority of our
people. It's not officially single-track, and if anyone wants to plan
something else the timeslot is open, but nobody is going to blame anyone
if they do not want to go up against this big gun.
. . . . . . . . . .

+Friday, April 4:
+ 7:30am: Katie's Koffee Korner (Quad - Betty's Cyber Cafe) - ms
+ 1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (Gold Coast Buffet) - ms
+ 3:00pm: Macy's Makeovers, session 1 (Macy's FSM) - ms
+ 3:45pm: Macy's Makeovers, session 2 (Macy's FSM) - ms
+ 4:30pm: Macy's Makeovers, session 3 (Macy's FSM) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Happy Hour (Carmine's) - mv
+ 7:00pm: Dinner (Carmine's) - mv
+ 8:00pm: Farewell Get-Together (Carmine's) - mv
+ 8:30pm: Official Group Photo (Carmine's) - mv
+ 10:00pm: Dancing at Paris (Paris - Cabaret Lounge) - ms
+ 11:59pm: Late Night Clubbing (Club Surrender - Wynn) - ms

We need something for Friday Morning. FISM anyone? No busy work on
that one. Friday afternoon has room for about anything as well. Friday
evening, of course, is solid.

High Tea folks: Any plans for this year? See below item.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Sunday dining:

Marisa writes:

That's ok if you (annie) take Denny's, I'll be helping Valorie with
dining at Triple George and the scavenger hunt. The Mob Bar moved across
the street into the new Downtown Grand and doesn't serve food now. If we
need another FSE dining option, I could host one at Pizza Rock next to
Triple George.

Info about the entrance at Carmines will be coming.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Marisa. :)

We'll move the dining across the street to the Triple George. I'll do
the HH and dinner at Denny's. That will give us three strong dining
options downtown on Sunday. If you want to do Pizza Rock let us know but
I think the three options will cover us.

Please let us know what you find at Carmines/Caesars.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Dancing:

Vivian writes:

Will take on Dancing at Paris for Thursday.
. . . . . . . . . .

You got it!

That leaves only Monday and Wednesday lacking a host(ess) for dancing.
JoAnn has tentatively volunteered to take one, which means that we're
only in need of one more. This would be a great one for a newer
volunteer as there's no busy work involved. All you really need to do
is agree to be there, welcome the others, and answer any questions that
may come up.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Classic Rock and Roll:

Bob writes:

Susan, Rachel and I are going to try to have classic rock and roll after
a 2 year hiatus. Hopefully on Tuesday night. We're just trying to find a
venue. We will keep you posted on our progress.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Bob. :)

It's on the schedule, location TBA. Please let us know when you decide
on a location.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Makeover times:

Kandi writes:

I see this on the DLV calendar, as follows;

1:00pm: Makeover Sessions - beginner (Bare Escentuals FSM) - ms

I suggest we use the hours shown below.

I spoke with Cindy and here's what she would like to setup.

The store can hold up to 3 people per 1 hr. session.

She suggests this schedule;

Sunday from 1-5 pm.
Monday from 12-6 pm.
Tuesday from 12-6 pm
Wed. is available for overflow, as well.

Beginners would have first shot at this schedule, thinking that they
would want Sunday or Monday sessions. Intermediate might prefer Mon. &
Tuesday.

Cindy needs to schedule her staff 30 days in advance and would also like
a near-final headcount about 2 weeks prior, if possible.

Since DLV begins at the end of her pay period, end of Feb would be the
ideal time for a prelim. headcount.

Please let me know if you need more info.

She is eager to work with us again.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Kandi.

Please double-check the current schedule to be sure all is OK.

We probably won't have any kind of headcount by the end of February.
Activity sign-up will begin in early March. We'll have some reasonably
good projections about a week after that gets underway.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Firefly for lunch:

Kandi writes:

Regarding the Firefly restaurant, I recommend we consider scheduling a
"Lunch with Ginger". We can have up to 20 gurls in the main dining area
and not use the banquet room. This is a simple reservation like a
birthday party with no deposit required. We all loved both the food &
service were excellent.

my $0.02 worth
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Here is what I would suggest.

First of all, pick a day. Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday are
still open.

Lunch is quite the up-in-the-air type of thing for many of our people.

I am not confident that we would get an accurate headcount by doing a
sign-up for lunch. Lunch headcount over the past few years is often in
the single digits, and rarely exceeding a dozen or so.

I would suggest doing this very informally, meaning no reservation. Just
use available tables.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Dining, Tea, Dance, Rumor, Big Sister:

Laura writes:

If you still need another eating out option I can volunteer that night.
I was thinking Satays which is an Asian Restaurant on paradise. I hosted
it last year. Or I was thinking about Thursday since only PF Changs was
the only choice. I really like PF Changs but it does get a little
crowded. What do you think?
. . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Laura.

We're actually quite solid with the dining options we have for Tuesday
but if you want to add it, we could use it. It may be good to keep this
one in the back pocket in case we have to cancel any of the others for
any reason.

A better fit would be Thursday if you like. We've gotten along before
with PF Chang alone prior to EHM but there may be more demand this year
so if you would like it would fit nicely as a second option.

It's your call, just let us know what you want to do.
. . . . . . . . . .

Laura continues:

Couple of questions about the events.

Is High Tea not on the list this year?

Also is someone still planning a dance instruction event?

In reference to Rumor, their restaurant area is very small, service
staff was small for lunch. Did not have dinner there. Staff was
friendly enough. No problems.

Also you can sign me up as a big sister this year.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie continues:

High Tea has been talked about but it has not been put on the schedule
yet. No particular reason that I am aware of. I'm sure it will happen.

Dance instruction has been talked about but nothing that I know of is
definite. It would be a good fit on any of several weekdays.

As for Rumor, yes, it would work for lunch, dinner, or maybe even a
Pre-DLV venue. It's just waiting for someone to pick up the ball and
run with it.

Big Sister Team: You taking notes? :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Swishing:

Kandi writes:

Hi All,

Here's an idea I don't know much about and have never tried but wanted to
share. Have a Swishing party.

http://swishing.com/you_swish/

We all have clothes we bought that we no longer wear so why not trade?
Your comments are welcome.
. . . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

I think this is more or less what the EHM folks have in mind again this
year in conjunction with the EHM Fantasy Ball. EHM people? Am I correct?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Joisey Boyz:

Delaney writes:

Jersey Boys does have a 9:30 show at Paris on Tuesday. However, the
ticket cost may eliminate it as being a general interest event. I didn't
call to see what the group rates are, but single seats are $75-150.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks for checking this out, Delaney.

We did Jersey Boys in 2009 and we had a large handful. It's expensive
but I would pay to see it again it's that good! We were able to get
tickets in the same row but not all together.

It would be a good fit for Tuesday evening if you want to make plans.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Gowf timing:

Danielle writes:

On golf, 9 am is the tee time. So people should plan accordingly to
arrive in time to hit balls and generally loosen up. We usually also do
a short meeting, at about 8:45, to go over procedures and rules.

I was not planning on organizing a car pool. We've never done it, and it
hasn't been an issue in years past, so far as I know.

I'll write up something in the next few days. Including a link to a
map/directions from The Strip and payment instructions (I'm planning to
do Paypal again.)
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Danielle.

Let's adjust the time on the schedule to indicate the expected arrival
time, 8:45 or even earlier if you want it, keeping in mind the
propensity of our people to be "fashionably late" to things.

We'll have the new course on the main activity map. It's the Google
Map with optional driving directions. If you want to have a separate
map just for golf, that's fine, but please have all ready in time for
the Large Final Mailing the week before DLV.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Tuesday evening:

Vera writes:

I haven't contacted the Bavarian HofBrauHaus yet to make a reservation
because I'm waiting until a gets a little closer but I'm sure we won't
encounter any trouble hosting a night German fun for those wanting an
moderate priced alternative to the Tuesday night dining options.

Maybe we can even schedule it so those eating at the Bavarain Hof Brau
can join Bev's group who are dining at the steak house then going to see
Frank Marino's show at the Quad.
. . . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Vera.

This sounds great and yes, the timing would work for those who want to
follow dinner with Frank Marino (or even Jersey Boys) later in the
evening.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Karaoke on Sunday:

"Karaoke with Shiela" at the Phoenix Bar and Lounge (formerly the Escape
Lounge) has now been confirmed for Sunday, March 30 9PM to 1AM. Both
Shiela and the owners are looking forward to it. I might add that Shiela
is very supportive of T-people and very easy to work with. She has over
200,000 songs on her K-machine.

I usually arrive there around 8:30 to get an early start. With all the
dinner options starting at 7, that could be a problem for me. However, I
can probably skip dinner that day and do lunch with Ginger instead.

Therefore, count on me to be there early.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks for taking this on, Linda. It's a good fit for the evening and
gives us a "safe" option for those who may feel uneasy in the bright
lights of Fremont Street.

What would work out nicely is if you or someone else would do a "safe"
dining activity prior to Phoenix. Blue Ox West is in the same general
area and the staff knows our group and the place is subdued and will be
comfortable for those without much public experience.

If you or anyone wants to do HH and dinner there prior, it would be a
great evening for those who want something less exposed.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Lunch With Aejaie:

Hello,

I would be happy to host lunch with Aejaie on Monday March 31, 2014 at
Carnival World Buffet ($25 -40) at the Rio Hotel and an additional lunch
on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at the Paradise Buffet ($18-$30) at the
Flamingo Hotel.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Aejaie. These are now on the schedule.
