Looking very good:

Overall, we are in very good shape!

By far, this year's group of volunteers is the most enthusiastic of
all time! Big thanks to all who have stepped forward to take on the
various duties.

We've had quite a few self-starters and proactive volunteers. The degree
of volunteer enthusiasm this year is very obvious and the PM team sure
appreciates it!
. . . . . . . . . .

Our needs now are mainly in the various "fill in" activities, such as
a few more dining options, various Tuesday evening things, etc.

As far as anything that's lacking, we don't have any shopping activities
yet. (FISM on Friday morning, anyone?) We haven't had any self-produced
performance activities for a few years now.

There are still plenty of opportunities for anyone who has about anything
in mind that the group would enjoy doing.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Laundry list:

Yes, the dreaded Laundry List has re-appeared. :)

For those who are new to the volunteer scene we keep a running list of
open action items. These are often just requests for information but in
some cases we have items which are not going to go away until someone
acts upon them.

+Sunday:
+ 1:00pm: Bar Rescue Tour (Dennys Neonopolis) - ms

+ 6:00pm: Happy Hour options (various)
+ 7:00pm: Dining options (various)

+ 8:30pm: After-dinner options (various)

Marisa, after the Bar Rescue Tour are you planning on a Happy Hour and
Dinner at Denny's?

If you want, I (Annie) will be willing to host(ess) the HH and dinner at
Denny's at the usual times, merging with the returning bar tourists.

Please let me know if this works for you or if you want something else.
. . . . .

+ 10:00pm: Late-night options (various)
+ 10:00pm: Dancing at Paris (Paris - Cabaret Lounge) - ms
+ 11:00pm: Beauty Bar (Beauty Bar) - ms

All: Do we want to keep Dancing at Paris on the schedule for Sunday night
or use Beauty Bar for a single-track mainstream option? Comments please.

It looks like we will have an additional "safe" option as well, see
below.
. . . . . . . . . .

+Tuesday:

+ 9:00pm: Mainstream-Alternative Night (various)
+ 9:30pm: Frank Marino Show (The Quad) - ms
+ 10:00pm: Dancing at Paris (Paris - Cabaret Lounge) - ms

All: Tuesday after dinner is one of our few weak spots. Frank Marino
will draw a number of our people but many have seen that and will not
want to re-do it. We're in need of at least one strong general-interest
activity for this period.

Ideas?
. . . . . . . . . .

Friday:

Anyone feel like host(ess)ing a shopping tour to Fantastic Indoor Swap
meet? They are only open Friday-Sunday.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Macy's capacity:

Sara writes:

Looking like we're in a good place to start the new year.

My only comment is related to the Macy's makeovers. It is suggested
below that this event is limited in capacity. Not so. Last year we had
full participation at around six per time slot and there was room for
much more. Macy's brought in a few freelance artists for us and I was
concerned that they weren't kept busy enough.

This year I would like to have no waiting list because and let the chips
fall where they may with the only caveat being that attendees would be
asked to consider balance of the schedule when signing up (ie - if it
doesn't matter to the person what time they sign up for, then perhaps
pick a slot which has less participants than the others).
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Sara.

Capacity limits have been removed.

When activity sign-up starts we'll update the screen noting the least
full of the three sessions as a suggestion to those signing up.

We will keep you informed of the sign-up numbers as the sign-ups come
in.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Monday Koffee Korner:

Katie writes:

Hi gang.

Unfortunately I will not be at Katie's Koffee Korner on Monday as my
flight in to Vegas is on Monday Afternoon due to pricey flights on
Sunday from Detroit so I will be back in action Tuesday morning.. I will
most likely arrive at Betty's Cafe at 7AM so KKK can begin each day at
that time if anyone else is an early riser and needs company for a
coffee or two.

Beverly will likely be there Monday morning so KKK can go ahead as
planned but if not then can someone else fill in for us? There is no
deep work involved, Just someone with a friendly smile and a "Hi how are
you"..... The rest is ad lib! Sorry for the inconvenience girls. but
that's Showbiz!
. . . . . . . . . .

Beverly responds:

Katie, I will be there Monday morning to kick off KKKWB (with Bev). I
will do my best to fill your shoes (size 11 if I remember correctly).
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Dancing and Rumor:

Sue writes:

If not taken, I could do the Dancing at Paris for Tuesday night.
. . . . .

Thanks, Sue. You have it for Tuesday.
. . . . . . . . . .

Vivian writes:

I can volunteer to host one of the Late Night Dancing at Paris.
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday.
. . . . .

Thanks Vivian.

Sue spoke up for Tuesday so please pick either Wednesday or Thursday.

All: That makes four volunteers to host(ess) late-evening dancing. (Sue,
Vivian, Annie, JoAnn) Depending on what we decide for Sunday, that makes
1 or 2 still in need. This would be a good one for someone new to the
volunteer scene.
. . . . . . . . . .

Vivian continues:

I've stayed at Rumor many times but never tried the restaurant because
it didn't look all that appetizing. The hotel should be fine for events
since they hosted the Wildside group a few years ago. The rooms have
been remodeled and are pretty good considering the price ($50~$75).
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Lunch with Ginger hostess:

Aejaie writes:

I'm happy to cover a day for Ginger.

Let me check my schedule for which day works best.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Aejaie.

Please pick one of the days. All are available now. Also pick a place
to dine. Lunch has traditionally been at a buffet, but we are not in
any way married to that concept.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Golf start time and major gatherings:

Danielle writes:

Just one correction and a bit more information:

For golf, the start time is 9 am, not 9:15 am. We're confirmed. And the
price per player will be $73, including range balls, cart, and a box
deli assortment lunch.
. . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Danielle.

Time has been updated. We'll also get those details copied to the final
detailed schedule and the sign-up screen.

Question: Is 9:00am the tee-off time or the suggested arrival time. We
should annotate the detailed schedule, particularly since this is a new
venue and will be an unfamiliar location and route to many.

Also, are you planning on any kind of carpool?
. . . . . . . . . .

Danielle continues:

When do you need the one-paragraph write-up?
. . . . .

Annie continues:

If you're referring to a blurb to post on the Discussion Forum, about
any time you want. You can simply post it yourself (please use the term
"Activity Highlight" in the subject) or send it in and we'll post it in
your name for you.
. . . . . . . . . .

Danielle continues:

By the way, just a suggestion; if we do Carmines and Bahama Breeze, why
not reverse the events, so Bahama Breeze is the last night, as it's been
for the past number of years. I think it works quite well that way. And
then there's no need to jiggle with the order of things. It stays in its
traditional place. And Carmines is the new opening night venue.
. . . . .

Annie continues:

It's not totally set in stone, but it was the clear consensus of the
ad-hoc group that planned the major gatherings that Bahama Breeze is
familiar and comfortable and is the better choice for the opener, in
particular for those who are new and a bit shy. The comfort angle of BB
was also one of the more significant factors cited by the proponents of
using BB for both major gatherings.

Carmine's, on the other hand, is regarded as less "safe" and better for
the end of the event when those who were shy at first have become more
accustomed to mainstream public.

We are (see below) going to take some steps to hopefully mitigate some
of the anxiety that some may have walking from their vehicles to the
restaurant. Carmine's should be very comfortable itself, but the walk
through the Forum Shops may be a bit intimidating for some.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Pamplemousse Happy Hour:

Delaney writes:

Let's once again use PT's Pub for the Pamplemousse Happy Hour unless you
happen to think of a better option, I'm open to suggestions. Pamplemousse
itself does not have a bar.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Delaney.

PT's is probably the best convenient option in the area. It's now on the
schedule.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Karaoke:

Linda writes:

Responding to:"4. Various activities, day and evening"

I would like to volunteer as host(ess) for "Karaoke with Shiela" on
Sunday or Thursday evening 9PM to 1AM at the former Escape Lounge, now
the Phoenix Bar & Lounge. Shiela (ie not ei) is a GG and has been a KJ
for many years at various bars in Las Vegas, and is at the Phoenix those
2 nights.

It would probably need to be Sunday because I see that EHM is scheduled
for Thursday and although the schedule shows it ending at 10PM, I
remember that last year it went until near midnight and I don't want to
miss any part of EHM. Anyway, Shiela is at the Phoenix both nights and
she is always entertaining and fun. Of course, there's nothing to stop
anyone from going both nights.

(As a side note, I had no interest in karaoke until last June when a
friend turned me onto it. I found that I, Linda could sing and do other
things I wouldn't even consider when in boymode!)
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Linda. :)

I do agree that Sunday is the better choice for this.

Please confirm this and we will get it on the schedule.

In fact this would give us a "safe" alternative to the Fremont Street
thing for those who are uneasy with that amount of exposure. If you
(or someone else) wouldn't mind getting there a bit earlier we could
bill it as an "Alternative Common Gathering" and that would be a good
fit for the overall evening.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Carmines logistics:

Marisa writes:

Visited Carmine's last night to look at the menu and talked to the
hostess, she thinks the private entrance is by the dock.

It looks like a table of 6 can have a whole chicken marsala for $5.50
each ($33 divided by 6=$5.50), broccoli for less than $3 ($16 divided by
6=$2.66) or have the ravioli dinner for $5 each and Cami says the other
option is a better deal! Would it help to inform people through out the
week before the farewell event as to how the family style menu works so
they can have an idea what table to sit at? I could ask for some menus
and check things out more if needed.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Marisa.

Looking at the overall layout of the property, and the view shown
here:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/misc/cp2.jpg

When you say "dock", it appears that it's in the general area noted by
"D" in the above photo. Google Street View actually has a good shot of
what appears to be this dock:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/misc/cp1.jpg

It's not obvious if there is a clear walking path from the valet park
("V" in the first photo) to this area.

Would you be willing to go scout out the exact path that one would take
from the valet park to the private entrance and take a few photos (cell
phone shots would be fine) that show the exact location of the private
entrance?

For those who have done the Limo Tour in recent years, the area marked
with "L" has been used for limo load-in.

We'll annotate the detailed schedule with a description of the Family
Style dining. We'll try to give more detail this year on most of the
dining options.
