Winding down a few things:

We had no objections to our hotel strategy.

We did have some further suggestions and comments, but no "I call
for a vote" or "I object" or anything like that, so we will
consider the slate of hotels to be approved. A general mailing will
go out Saturday including this.

Thanks to all for making the hotel selection process go smoothly
again this year! :)
. . . . .

We do have one more item of business before we put things on the
back burner for the holidays. This is the selection of a new Big
Sister Coordinator.

We have two nominations below, one a self-nomination and another
a nomination from the floor.

I (Annie) will be willing to second either or both nominations as
I believe both are well qualified and both are enough in tune to
the way things work at DLV to effectively serve in the position.

Let's keep the nominations open for one more list cycle, which will
most likely be less than a week. If there are any other nominations,
please send them in.
. . . . .

As far as other business, let's resume after the holidays.

For some "homework" (didn't you just HATE it when teachers assigned
a major project over the holidays!) for the next few weeks, please
be thinking of which activities you wish to coordinate or assist
with.

We'll be needing a good mix of small and medium scale activities,
and a mix of old favorites and new ideas.

In particular, we'll need volunteers for small and medium size dining
activities for four evenings.

Our daytime slate is pretty much Tabula Rasa except for the recurring
morning coffee and lunch sessions. We'll need a good selection of
various participatory/touristy/recreational/outdoorsy/indoorsy and
other things.

We'll also need a number of evening things such as shows and such.

Please let us know what you would like to see on our schedule and
what you would be willing to help organize.

JoAnn Sez:

We are "rolling...rolling.." with dates selected, hotels recommended,
and Opening and Closing venues with Coordinators having volunteered and
reserved the locations.

Enjoy your holiday, however, set aside some money for Diva Week. We
will proceed with planning come January 2013.

We all are very fortunate to have each other working together on the
Diva ORG Team...

Who says there are "no angels" nor a Santa Claus, nor a Hanukkah bush?
You volunteers make them all happen!!

Blessing to you all.... JoAnn

Big Sister and Hotels:

Delaney writes:

I am willing to serve as Big Sister Coordinator.

So far as the hotels you mentioned, I have stayed at Paris and found
it to be fine (with a bakery to die for !).

Just a suggestion, some girls may like to consider staying downtown,
perhaps we should mention that as an available option, particularly
for those with cars.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Delaney.

Your nomination is seconded, and since you self-nominated, we don't
need to get your acceptance. :)

We've had a few of our people stay downtown over the years, but never
any significant numbers. It might be worth bringing this up for next
year if there appears to be any major degree of interest. We've had
several activities downtown with no major issues over the years.

Hotels and nomination:

Beverly writes:

Greetings all, you too Annie.

I love your list of suggested hotels and have personally considered
staying at each of them. If you need another suggestion, I would add
Terrible's to the list. I have not stayed there but have eaten and
played there en'femme with no problems. I think it would be put on the
same level as IP for comfort and cost. It's just a mile off the strip
and across Paradise Road from a couple of our activities spots (Bahama
Breeze of note). It offers easy access into the place with parking in
front and parkade in back. If you do not need another suggestion then
the three you have suggestion are all good.

I nominate, second, third, or support you choices as needed. I also
agree with your decision on The Artisan... nice place to visit but I
wouldn't want to sleep there.

As for the Big Sister Coordinator position, I would like to nominate
Gabriella Ellen (Gabbi). She would be an outstanding person for this
position.

I would also be willing to assist her. I can't head it up because I
won't be getting into Las Vegas until very late Sunday night and would
miss the early comers. The rest of the week I am available to assist.

One last note on the IP and Katie's Koffee Korner... if Betty's Cafe
is open and available for the morning meeting location it is very
easy to get from Harrah's to Betty's through the rear passageway
(does that sound dirty to anyone else??) connecting the two properties.
Both are also on the Monorail system as well so those off property have
another means of easy access.

I'm already excited about DLV 2013 and have made my air travel
reservations ($68 each way!!) and am counting down the time.

Thanks to Annie, JoAnne, and all who are putting in the time, energy,
and effort to make this next event even better!

Happy Holidays,

Beverly
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Beverly, and in particular thanks for taking the initiative
toward our final big-bang gathering!

Your one comment is somewhat reminiscent of an old Tim Cavanagh cult
favorite. If anyone is curious, consult your favorite search engine. :)

Thanks for the nomination.

Most important, Gabi, do you accept the nomination? Please let us know
as we do have a second.

Testing registration:

It's that time again!

Within the next few days we'll be sending out a test batch of
re-registration e-mails to you, the members of the ORG group,
to help shake down the registration process for the upcoming
year.

You can consider the registration system to be live and "for real"
at that time. Please go ahead and register for DLV 2013 if you
like and please report anything unusual, such as:

1. Screens that do not look right. Garbled, malformed, etc.

2. Error messages. Please cut-paste and send these in if you should
happen to get one.

3. Typos, misspellings, anachronisms, etc. Nothing should refer to
DLV 2012, dates should be correct for the current event, etc.

4. Failure to get a confirming e-mail when you register.

5. Slowness, ergonomic issues, unexpected responses, etc.

6. Anything at all which does not work as expected.

Thanks to all for helping to test this and shake it down! :)
