Org List:

This is the DLV 2012 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg_at_geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not

Following up:

First and foremost! BIG THANKS to all of the volunteers who made
DLV 2012 what it was! It was a highly-successful week and well
enjoyed by those who attended! This project would not be at all
possible without your input and effort!
. . . . . . . . . .

We now begin our follow-up process.

Please be thinking in terms of what worked, what did not work,
why things did or did not work, how things could be improved
upon, any particular trouble spots, etc.

In the near future we'll have various "calls" to the general
DLV population, including the Call For Volunteers. In about a
month we'll be adding the new volunteers to our ORG mailings
and cleaning up the list of stale or inactive members.

JoAnn Sez:

It was another great Diva Gathering. Those who chose to have a fun time,
did. Those who "held back" probably missed the opportunity to make their
attendance another great experience of their life. It was very rewarding
for Annie, Rosada [assistance by Dennis] and myself to go to the
Volunteer Luncheon and be able to recognize all of you volunteers with
Certificates of Appreciation. This was a very special day for Diva.
[Sorry abut the lunch service delay-- another challenge to be addressed
next year!]

And during the week there was some good feedback from a number of you
volunteers which will enhance several of the activities next year.

Last, but surely not least, is how rewarding I find it to be working
with Annie [who does the 'heavy lifting'] and each of you who volunteer
to coordinate and assist with the various activiities. I cannot say
enough of how proud I feel being a part of of the Diva 2012 Organization
Group.

Hugs, many thanks, and Blessings to all who made the Diva Gathering
2012 a great experience, again!

Let the photos roll !!!!!

Headcounts:

One of our jobs over the next few weeks is to finalize our numbers
both for the event as a whole and for the individual activities.

For those holding their breath waiting for some total numbers, we
won't have those until our stragglers are accounted for, and you
can help by looking over the below list and reporting any cases
where you are certain that the named individual(s) were present.

It is obvious that our total headcount was down this year, and
somewhat significantly. This was seen in two observations, the
large number of cancellations received immediately before the
event, and the larger than expected number of participants who
remained on the rolls but failed to check in.

Most of our larger activities had turnouts in the expected range
with over 100 at Drink And Drag and over 70 at Bahama Breeze.
Erotic Heritage had over 50.

This year we're surveying those who did not attend as well as
those who did, and the response rate from those who were not with
us is much better than expected. We don't want to release any data
prior to the close of the surveys in order to avoid contaminating
the remaining responses, but it's safe to say that no "derogs" on
our part contributed to the decrease in turnout.

And, for those who have not taken our surveys yet, please do so.

Those who did attend can take the DLV 2012 Attendee Survey here:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/2012survey.html

Those who did NOT attend, can take the Non-Attendee Survey here:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/2012nasur.html

The following is a list of those we were expecting to see, but who
did not identify themselves by name to our check-in people. Please
look it over and if there's anyone on it who should not be, please
reply and let us know.

Activity summaries:

We would like to invite all Coordinators to please submit a brief
write-up about each activity they were involved with.

I (Annie) submit the following:

1. Beginner Open House.

I said I would assist with these, mainly because I wanted to be sure
that this year we indeed welcomed newcomers in an appropriate manner
and I was concerned about the relatively low ratings of such sessions
in recent years.

As expected, the Sunday Beginner Open House was the most-attended and
Ginger was present to do check-in and assist with the welcoming. On
Monday we had a smaller but still respectable turnout.

As for Tuesday (blush) this is one case where I admit I failed to
meet a commitment. :( I overslept a power nap! I woke up and realized
that I was expected over at the Artisan, but there was no way I could
make it before the session was to end. :( Sorry 'bout that! :(

But the bottom line is that the Beginner Open House sessions
definitely "worked" this year! I think this concept is a candidate
for expansion into a more organized program of welcoming our new
people into the fold.
. . . . .

2. Mainstream Common Gathering (Margaritaville).

To say this one "worked" is pushing it! Those who did stick around
for the band did appear to be enjoying it, but many departed, and I
admit that I kind of wandered in and out over the remainder of the
evening. :)

It was intended that I relieve Sabrina so she and others could go
off to Charlies. When I showed up to the Margaritaville Dinner I
was informed that there were all kinds of issues, from parking to
the fact that they had closed off the upper levels and crammed
everyone in the extremely-crowded first level. I was greeted with
some very salty descriptions of what was transpiring, punctuated
by visions of intimate acts with smaller bovids, and told to please
go find any open table I could and camp on it! I found one.

We were to have a larger table on the main floor for the group,
and eventually we got it, but some stayed put and ate where they
were. Most of the gang scattered to the winds before the band
eventually began to play, much later than they were scheduled!

Oh well ...
. . . . .

3. Fremont Happy Hour (Fremont Hotel).

Smaller crowd, as expected, and probably the best bar prices the
entire week! Friendly bar staff. Much of my attention was taken
doing headcounts, checking with the Tony Roma's folks for wait
times, and coordinating who would sit with whom.

Definitely "worked" and was quite enjoyable.
. . . . .

4. Tony Roma's Dinner (Fremont Hotel).

Most definitely "worked" and was very good. We had two medium size
tables and no issues that I could see.

I'm still trying to figure out if I indeed observed Ginger actually
devouring (and appearing to enjoy) BBQ ribs or if that was some kind
of beer-goggle distortion. :) :)
. . . . .

5. Official Group Photo (Drink And Drag).

This was much easier than I expected. We had some great assistance
in herding the cats. I haven't seen any of the photos yet, but I
do think they will be some of the better group shots in our history.
. . . . .

6. Harmony Nail Spa Open House (Harmony Nail Spa).

I was embarrassed and ashamed about the turnout, or lack of same,
on this one! Last year we had something like 12 present, and I had
no reason to believe we would not have a similar turnout this year,
especially since vino was on the menu, but AFAIK I was the only one
who showed! I really feel bad about this one! :( Paula and staff
put out all kinds of goodies as usual, and nobody came! :(

Paula did assure me that business had been good that week and that
quite a few DLVers were in and out, but still, I felt bad, and still
do about it! :(
. . . . .

7. Limousine Tour (Caesars).

Another very good tour, and everyone I talked to enjoyed it! We did
the usual popular stops, interacted with the "normals", and consumed
far too much of the Good Stuff!

There was apparently one couple who missed the load in, joined the
group at FSE, and were miffed that we gave away their seats despite
a clear note to that effect on the sign-up page. JoAnn did make some
arrangements, and everybody did get to ride.

No incidents that I'm aware of.
. . . . .

8. Non-Charles Bar (Cosmopolitan).

I and some others took a taxi to Cosmo from Caesars, and by coincidence
arrived just as the Charles gang was arriving.

We stumbled into the bar, enjoyed a few drinks, and eventually stumbled
out. :) :) I do remember leaving the bar, but not arriving at the hotel
room. I must have, because I woke up there the next morning! :)

I really did expect to see others there, as the Charles Bar has always
been a popular after-limo spot in the past.

I really think this can work as such, if we promote it a bit more,
that is assuming that Charles does not get promoted out of the Galley
by next DLV. :)
. . . . .

9. Official Group Photo (Bahama Breeze).

Again, this was much easier than I expected. Thanks to all who helped
herd tha cats. :)
. . . . .

Those are mine, let's hear yours. :)
