Org List:

This is the DLV 2012 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg_at_geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Moving along:

We're asking all volunteers to read the "Responses needed" item
below and if your name is called, please let us know if you are
still interested in coordinating the noted activities for this
coming DLV. If you're not interested, you don't need to give us
a reason, just let us know so we can plan around it.

If your name is on the list and you've already sent a response,
please accept our apology and resend or remind. E-mail is not a
perfect medium and humans make mistakes. :)

Big thanks to all who have volunteered so far. Our schedule (see
below) is starting to take shape! :)
. . . . .

Latest numbers:

We broke 100!

As of Thursday morning we have 107 signed up to attend.

One interesting difference this year is that we have only 11 SOs
included in that number, meaning about 11.5% of the primary
attendees are bringing their SO along this year. This is a bit
lower than the 15-20% we've seen in recent years.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
JoAnn's thoughts:

As the schedule develops it is important that you all be thinking about
assisting the Activity Coordinators.

Each activity needs more than one greeter to make sure everyone is
included in the event, covering in case the Coordinator happens to be
late, and taking pictures {one camera is good, two cameras is great).

Also there are some very important things an assistant can do, i.e.,
Limo Tour, be on the buying trip for all of the "stocking of the
Limos", making sure people get back to the Limo at each stop, etc.

The more volunteer assistance, the more successful the activity for the
attendees. So please consider helping out even if you are the lead on
another activity.

Thanks. Hugs... JoAnn

Responses needed please:

All: Please look over this list and if your "name is called",
please let us know one way or the other.

What we're asking is if you are interested in coordinating
the same or a similar activity for DLV 2012. Please let us
know.

Thanks to all who have already responded! :) You'll notice that
this list is becoming much shorter!

Trevi, tea, MAC, shooting:

Laura T. writes:

Hello everyone,

I would be happy to volunteer again this year. I can do Trevi
again this year unless Ginger wants it back. Thursday night,
before the limo tour?

I will check with MAC to see about makeovers again, not sure what
day.

If Marilyn still needs help with High Tea I can still assist.

I can still help with with the shooting event but I don't know about
being charge of it. That Friday is pretty busy for me.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Laura. :)

We'll put Trevi on the schedule for Thursday prior to the Limo
Tour. The two (Trevi and Limo) have worked out quite well the
past few years. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" :)

Please let us know about the MAC makeovers when you can.

See thoughts on shooting below.

Makeovers and Dining:

Sara writes:

I'll pencil in the time slots for my events. Let's do the makeovers
at Macy's on Friday afternoon. I liked how that segued into the
ending bash last year.

And for my dinner, I'm leaning Wednesday so please pencil that in as
well.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Sara. You're on the schedule. :) Please let us know if
you want the timing and the number of sessions adjusted.

We'll put you on the schedule for Wednesday dinner, with the
timing adjusted to segue' into EHM.

This gives us two solid medium-size dining options for Wednesday.
Let's consider the Wednesday HH and dinner timeslots full and
closed.

All, we are still in need of small-medium size dining options for
Sunday and Tuesday, and we could use one more medium-size dining
option for Thursday since Trevi cannot accommodate the entire
group.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
High Tea:

Marilyn writes (some editing):

Sorry to not respond earlier.

First of all I'd like to coordinate the High Tea again. Thank you
Crystal for offering to help. Danielle has also offered to help
again.

I'm targeting (Thursday) at 2pm at the Four Seasons and will be
calling them in the next week or so. I'll keep you informed of any
developments.

In addition I've corresponded with Danielle and I'll also assist at
the golf event.
. . . . .

Marilyn continues:

I've made a reservation for Thursday April 26th at 2 pm at the
Verandah in the Four Seasons Hotel for the High Tea.
. . . . . . . . . .

JoAnn responds:

Marilyn

Like the new day of Thursday as an alternate to the previous years
of Friday.

Gets us out of a 'schedule rut'.

Thanks Marilyn

No horseplay:

Rosada writes:

I will be interested in hosting some type of event but I'm not
sure what as of yet. I do know that Dennis and I are not interested
in doing the Shiloh horse sanctuary again. Been there, done that!

I will let you know as soon as I do some more checking around for
the ideas I have in mind.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Rosada.

Please let us know what you decide upon. The schedule is still
quite open for both daytime and evening activities. If you need
some suggestions, just ask.

Performance:

Rosada writes:

I'm in contact with David almost on a daily basis so I will pass
this suggestion to him.

My only concern would be that he prefers to perform in places
where there is no smoking due to his not being able to be around
cigarette smoke. I know the bars are probably the only place where
he can perform for us.

Actually, he expressed that he would be open to performing at our
Farewell Dinner at Bahama Breeze. We could easily find a spot for
him like before or after the raffle (if they have one again) or just
ask the DJ if one of "girls" could perform for us a couple of
numbers. Then it would be a matter of passing the hat around. If
each gave a couple of dollars he'd be happy with that. =
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks, Rosada.

If you wish to pursue David's performance for our Friday ending
bash, I might suggest that you work with Alanna, assisting or
even taking the lead, so you can be involved in the discussion
with Bahama Breeze, if that venue is indeed the one to be used.

It's those who volunteer to coordinate an activity who take care
of the details, and that would include optional entertainment.

My concern with this is that bringing in our own entertainment
may result in a contract situation, a room charge, or a limited
menu situation.

Las Palmas:

Bob writes:

I think you should take Las Palmas off the list. There are a lot
of children there and being with children in a bathroom is
uncomfortable.

You probably didn't notice the absence of men with their families.
They came in shortly after most of you left and seemed threatening
when they came in, knocked over a few chairs and acted like their
sh*t didn't stink.

After dark there has always been problems with gangs and general
unrulyness.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Bob.

Do you (Bob or anyone?) have any ideas for a Welcome Celebration
venue which has not been mentioned so far?

If we take Las Palmas off our short list, we have remaining:

1. Downtown Cocktail Room.
2. Drink And Drag.
3. The larger remaining Blue Ox.

All are very iffy. All would probably work, but all of them have
unknowns or weak points.

As an aside, apparently the food for Drink And Drag is prepared
in the kitchen of the Heart Attack Grill, also in Neonopolis.
I'm sure Ginger can't wait to sample the fare! :) :) :)

Shooting:

Densie writes:

I would be willing to co-organize, but I can't commit to sole
responsibility. I may not be able to do DLV because of a legal
hassle that is scheduled for April.
. . . . . . . . . .

Shooting fans? We now have two individuals who are volunteering
to assist with this, but none so far wish to take the lead. Do
we have anyone (named so far or not) who wishes to take the lead
role on this activity?

This would be a good opportunity for a new volunteer! All it
takes is some busy work. The range we've been using is very
familiar with our group and knows who we are and what we are,
so there would be no cold-calling and explaining what our
group is all about and such.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Regrets:

Vivian Chen writes:

Sorry, I won't be able to make it this year. The timing of this DLV
is bad for me.
. . . . . . . . . .

Sorry to hear that, Vivian. You will be missed! :(
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Show suggestion:

Sabrina writes:

Hi, not sure this venue has been considered, but this Last July 13th
La Cage re-opened at the four Queens Casino on Freemont street. Its
a great show and can be an alternative to Frank's Diva's Las Vegas or
Boylesque.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks Sabrina.

Hmmmmm ... La Cage without Frank Marino?

At Four Queens. Appropriate! :)

I wasn't aware it had reopened, but yes, it would make a good
lower-cost show activity for DLV.

It could fit in on Tuesday as one of several after-dinner activities,
on Wednesday as a second-track against EHM, or Thursday as a second-
track against the Limo Tour.

All we need is for somebody to adopt it and select a timeslot for
it. :)
