This mailing:
Most of this mailing has to do with the impending date vote. If
you are of voting status, please read this mailing very carefully
in anticipation of your vote.
. . . . .
An objection has been raised regarding our intent to go out of
procedure and declare the odd-year Administrative Committee seat
to be jointly held.
Therefore, a run-off vote will occur in the near future. At this
time, however, we will table this item until the date selection
process, which is more of a time-critical issue, has concluded.

JoAnn's Thoughts:
I fully support Annie's assessment that the most important
issue-at-hand, which has been scheduled for a vote months ago, is
setting the Diva Week dates on our previously agreed schedule. She
really has presented clearly " the vote process"; just _be sure you
carefully read what Annie has presented._
Also I would like to reiterate a previous comment I made in prior
e-mails regarding the selection of the Diva Week. Your really need to
vote for the which fits your needs.
When you vote please understand the context all of the others comments
having been posted by others. I believe they have presented valid
concerns and "desires", but they may not have represented your needs.
Again, be true to your needs when you vote. That is how we make this
event the event it *IS !!!*
After the Diva Week selection we will again quickly come around and
address the Administrative Committee nomination.

Notes on the date vote:
One report of a missing ballot for the Admin Committee vote
was received. Therefore, we've gone over the list of those of
voting status to be sure that it now contains the correct (and
in a few cases updated) e-mail addresses as well as those who
recently attained voting status.
If you are of voting status, it is important that you check your
e-mail regularly when a vote is occurring and respond promptly
as necessary.
It's very important that NON-RECEIPT OF A
BALLOT BE REPORTED PROMPTLY!
Another note is that once the date vote is complete, it's very
difficult to reverse or reconsider. Our Standing Rules require
a 2/3 majority to change the scheduled dates of a DLV event by
more than three days.
Please be sure to review the various date notes and comments in
the Discussion Forum and ORG list back mailings when deciding
how to cast your vote.
For those who are not too excited about reading through the
various comments in the Discussion Forum, here are some peg
counts, current as of Monday evening.
First, the preference for dates.
One point was given for the clear mention of a set of dates as
a first or only choice. 1/2 point was given for a clear mention
as a second choice or a mention of equal preference to two. No
points were given for a third choice, a note that all will be fine,
or discussion not clearly mentioning preference of one or more
dates.
A. Sunday, March 25 thru Friday, March 30: 7 1/2
B. Sunday, April 22 thru Friday, April 27: 11 1/2
C. Sunday, April 29 thru Friday, May 4: 3 1/2
Second, conflicts. This is a count of specific mentions of
difficulty attending over the various proposed dates.
Conflicts reported:
A. Sunday, March 25 thru Friday, March 30: 2
B. Sunday, April 22 thru Friday, April 27: 0
C. Sunday, April 29 thru Friday, May 4: 3
Please review the comments and notes about issues and conflicts
prior to voting. Be an informed voter! :)

Pertaining to the date conflict, it is a substantial conflict. I
know Amy from Just You/Glamour Boutique here in Las Vegas has
committed to attend the Keystone Conference in 2012. The absence
of her services and resources at DLV would be a dis-service to our
attendee's.
And on a personal note, it would preclude me and my wife from being
able to participate as we are "minding the store" for Amy while she
is in Pennsylvania.

Susan writes:
I am in favor of the March 25 week. It fits into my schedule the
best. The later weeks will be difficult.
Having disclosed that, I feel that the Keystone conference would
have minimal effect on DLV.
Most of us have found the conferences rewarding for a few years.
I've been to SCC and Be-All. Since I discovered DLV, I find that I
don't need them anymore. One can only go to so many seminars and
workshops. DLV is so different from the conferences that I don't
forsee a problem.

Delaney is correct. Conflicting with the Keystone Conference could
be a serious problem and will likely be one anyway regardless of
the dates in close proximity. There are just so many conferences
most people can afford to attend.

Time to vote on the dates:
Those who are of voting status should expect their special ballot
mailings later today. If you are of voting status and do not
receive this, please report it ASAP.
The three candidate timeframes are:
A. Sunday, March 25 thru Friday, March 30.
B. Sunday, April 22 thru Friday, April 27.
C. Sunday, April 29 thru Friday, May 4.
If you are of voting status and do not receive your ballot by
Wednesday evening at the very latest, please write in and explain
the circumstances.
Polls will remain open until no votes are received for a 48 hour
period. In the event of no majority, a run-off round between the
two top vote-getters will occur. For this reason, we ask all who
are of voting status to please check e-mail regularly within the
next several days.
