Moving forward:

Please read the below item regarding the vote result carefully,
and if there are any objections to what we plan to do, please
let them be known within the next list cycle.
. . . . .

Delaney has pointed out a possible overlooked conflict with one
of our proposed timeframes. Please note the item below.

Speaking of timeframes, we have one more list cycle before we
vote on the dates for DLV 2012. If anyone has any more comments
or discussion on the dates, now is the time to say so, either
here on on the Discussion Forum.
. . . . .

In other news, Ginger reports handing out approximately 500
flyers at SCC, the intent of which is to raise awareness of
both DLV and Pinkfest. We did observe a definite "spike" in
the number of web hits which appears to be a result of this.

We thank Ginger for her initiative, efforts, and contribution! :)

JoAnn Sez:

Annie has explained below the situation regarding the tie voting.

My outlook is to be above the procedural rules and look to the
extenuating benefits, and not have a "run-off".

We have two candidates who bring significant contributions to our being
the DIVA Week we all strive to achieve.

I welcome everyone who is a contributor and sends "out energy" in that
direction. I believe we all are best served with both candidates
serving.

All of you [by your voting] have recognized both candidates as being
great contributors and so I have suggested to have both.

It is a win for all of us. We are fortunate to have both and I for one
think it is in our collective best interest to accept both who are
great contributors.

JoAnn... now step back and let others share their thoughts.

A "true hug" with care! JoAnn

Vote results:

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a tie. However, if you look at
the numbers, count, recount, and count again, you'll see that
this is not an easy tie to break to get a true majority.

Here are the numbers:

Bob: 10
Sara: 10
Write-in: 1 (Darlene)
Abstain: 2

In the past we've broken non-controversial ties by withdrawing
a project manager's vote. However, in this case, withdrawing
either or both of Annie's and/or JoAnn's votes would still not
result in a majority.
. . . . .

Here is the way we want to handle this:

First, we ask all of voting status to please look over the raw
votes below. As all of us know, e-mail is not a perfect medium
and "black hole" e-mails are not unknown.

If you do not see your vote in there, write in and explain the
circumstances. If your vote is indeed missing, and if you can
forward us your original vote e-mail WITH THE
ORIGINAL TIMESTAMP, we'll count it. This is one
of the reasons we always ask you to copy yourself on your votes!
It may also be in your "sent" folder. Otherwise the polls are
closed.

Assuming we have no lost votes, we would like to have the
position held jointly by both Bob and Sara. We realize that
this is going somewhat out of procedure, but both PMs are in
agreement that there are much bigger fish to fry and we would
like to avoid a run-off round of voting if possible.

Soooo ... If this is acceptable to both of the candidates, and
there are no objections by any of you, that is what we would
like to do. If there are objections, please let them be known
during the next list cycle.

Possible date conflict:

Delaney writes:

Just a quick note - I happened to be at a TG dinner last night, and a
topic of conversation was that the Keystone conference is being held 28
March-1 April. It appears this has grown into the second most widely
attended conference, and would conflict with DLV if the 25 March week
were selected. I don't know how many that would cause a conflict for,
but I imagine there would be a few.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Delaney.

Yes, this was an oversight. :(

I (Annie) admit that I overlooked this one. The Keystone Conference
has really grown and if the numbers are correct, they are at least
twice as large, attendance-wise, as we are. :(

We've conflicted with two different events in the past, but in
those cases we were the stronger event. However, in this case,
it appears that the reverse may be true.

We really can't withdraw this timeframe from our vote, but this
is one factor, one factor of many, that all of voting status can
take into consideration when casting their votes.

For those who are new to voting status, we always post the actual
text of the votes with enough of the Message-ID so that votes can
be positively identified by the sender, but non-obvious to others.
