Decisions to make:

Our first vote of the season (Admin Committee) is coming up.
Everyone of voting status please be sure to note the item below.
. . . . . . . . . .

Date scoreboard:

Several comments on the dates have been received. This is a very
unscientific approximate peg count of the preferences expressed
in response to the Call For Comments.

One point was given to a timeframe for a clear mention as a
first or only choice. 1/2 point was given to a timeframe for
any clear mention of a second or alternate choice. No points
were given for a third choice, a negative remark, or comments
to the effect that any/all of the dates are fine.

Here's the way things stand as of Tuesday morning.

A. Week of March 25: 6 1/2
B. Week of April 22: 8 1/2
C. Week of April 29: 3

The official vote will be during the first week of October.
Those of voting status can use these peg counts as a guide to
what the Teeming Millions prefer.

JoAnn's Thoughts:

Take heed !

I say forget the "teeming millions" ...

Be sure to vote for the Diva Week which best meets your needs. The
outcome will become what is best for most.

And don't be one who doesn't vote, and then blames those who voted that
they made the "wrong decision".

Always... JoAnn

Upcoming vote:

It's time to vote for the odd-year Administrative Committee
representative. No further nominations have come in and we can
consider nominations to be closed with the following two
candidates for the position (in alphabetical order):

Bob
Sara

Those of voting status can expect to receive their ballot e-mail
within the next day or so.
. . . . . . . . . . .

SINCE THIS IS THE FIRST VOTE OF THE DLV 2012 SEASON, IT
IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT ISSUES SUCH AS MISSING BALLOTS BE
PROMPTLY REPORTED!

If you are of voting status and do not receive your ballot e-mail
within the next 24 hours, something is wrong and we need to know
about it. Issues and technicalities, including missing ballots,
need to be reported before the outcome of the vote is known.

For those who are new to voting status, here's how the voting
works. We send a special "ballot" mailing to all who are of
voting status. The vote is cast by replying to this mailing.

We keep the polls open until no votes are received for a 48
hour period.

After the results are final, we'll post them in the next ORG
mailing, giving the totals and the raw votes with enough of
the Message-ID so everyone can check to be sure that their
vote has been counted, but obfuscated so it's not obvious
whose vote is which.

We ask all who vote to be sure to either CC: or BCC: themselves
so they will have a copy of their vote which includes the
Message-ID.

Artisan thoughts:

Cynthia writes:

Will approach Artisan management again just as soon as we have
our opening date firm, and we'll jump the hurdles again with them
if they're interested. At this point I can't see them not being.

Dining service or not ??
Group room rates and discounts ??
Do we want an Opener or Pre-Opener ??
Anything mid-week that needs to be set up ??
Karaoke anyone ??
Music, drink specials ??

Artisan is such a dreary, dreamy old place just made for coziness
and close camraderie with my lovely companions. I felt for a moment
that I was back in the old country again, sipping absinthe and absent
mindedly watching while the world fell apart at the seams and I no
longer wanted to save it.

Mmuuuwwwhhhaaa, smack !!
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks, Cynthia.

To try to answer some of your questions ...

>Dining service or not ??

IMAO, food service at the Welcome Celebration is a big plus.

The Artisan does have some limits on how many they can seat
and serve, and I would like to see if we can come up with a
plan to work around this.

IMAO a limited menu would be self-defeating.

Perhaps it will be worth looking at the Rumor for the big
opener, as they may be able to accommodate more diners.

>Group room rates and discounts ??

Yes, please. Artisan is one of the few hotels which has given
us "special rates" which actually beat street rates. It would
be good to get some rates quoted before we make our suggested
hotel selections in November.

Perhaps rates at Rumor could be arranged as part of the package.

>Do we want an Opener or Pre-Opener ??

IMAO we need to focus on the big Opener (Welcome Celebration)
and deal with anything prior as the plans emerge.

>Anything mid-week that needs to be set up ??

I think that a re-run of the Volunteer Luncheon and Social is
in order, but that's informal and really does not need much in
the way of reservation. For last year's I just mentioned to the
GM that a group of unknown size would be socializing and eating
lunch and he assured me that the bar would be open at the time.

>Karaoke anyone ??

Karaoke fans? Densie? Comments?

Karaoke at the Artisan (or Rumor) following the Welcome
Celebration? Maybe a Karaoke party mid-week?

Comments, gang?

>Music, drink specials ??

IMAO we don't really need music or entertainment at the Welcome
Celebration.

Drink specials? One complaint we got last year was that those
who were "good guys" and went to the restaurant promptly to
order dinner got socked full price for drinks and were not
able to get happy hour prices. If it could be arranged to have
happy hour prices apply to drinks served in the restaurant
during the happy hour period, it would make for some happy
campers. :)

Further thoughts on any of this, gang?

Dates:

Mindy writes:

Hi Gang;

I see things are moving along nicely. I will not be able to make a March
but the later in April the better my chances. I will retire on May 1st
but if things work out I might be able to leave work a week or so early.
In the meantime I am available to tap as a resource for ideas and
methods of handling events I used to run. Any help or input needed just
ask. I wont jump in on anybodys planning of events they took over when
I couldn't make it without an invite..

WTF stands for World Taekwondo Federation (a Karate organization).
It's further clarified here:

>Are we supposed to memorize all of these?

Uh-huh, you need to know all of them. There may or may not be a quiz.
