Quick housekeeping note:
If you send something in regarding this topic and you don't see
it, or at least a reference to it, in one of the next ORG

you are not being snubbed, but e-mail is not a perfect medium
and humans make mistakes.

Opener volunteer:
Cynthia writes:
I would very much like to volunteer here on a local basis
to help you arrange a new venue for our opener. I'm retired
with time on my hands and have 14 years living here in LV.
I want to say right up front that I believe "The Artisan" could
be made to work as a beautiful location for our opener, and with
the right negotiation we could have it on a Monday night, on our
terms, bathroom security and all, and without having to compromise
on our "non-convention" status.
Whatever location we settle on, however, I feel the time has never
been better than now to take maximum advantage of our economic
position here in LV. Buisiness's are looking at one thing and one
thing only these days from the visiting public, their affluence.
Once they have determined that, no matter what our social position
may be in relation to the mainstream public, they will place all
other considerations in secondary importance.
Things have changed, the world has moved on; time was when we would
be waiting in line, begging for facilities and accommadations,
today they wait in line to beg us.
The time has never been more right for the Transgendering public
to make that all important move to move up in the eyes, minds,
and opinions of the general public. As well, we are still relegated
and considered to be in last place within the homoerotic community
too, whereas we were once the leaders of the gay parade.
Nowadays, public and gay community opinion is so split up and
factionalized as to make it all but impossible for us to have any
Pride with them, gay or not. Our time has come, LVDiva is our moment;
today is the day for us to come out.

Annie responds:
Thanks, Cynthia. We do appreciate your help, very much, and yes,
you're most definitely on "the committee" now. :)
We'll do an exchange of information between you and Marisa, who
has been doing the Firefly and DCR negotiations. Please work
together and keep the ORG group here advised on anything major.
Thanks again.

Las Palmas:
Rosada writes:
I thought Las Palmas was a very nice place, even though it's
location was somewhat shady. It's menu had a lot of various
food selections to offer the diner. The interior was nice also
from what I saw when I walked in.
In fact, I was giving it some serious consideration as a location
for hosting the Mexican dinner night, until Bob mentioned the
gang activity. But there were plenty of cars out there in the
parking lot the night of the Pre-DLV gathering last year and
I didn't feel I was in any danger of being mugged or robbed or
carjacked. I think as long as there are plenty of people walking
in and out of the place that should act as a deterrent to any
gang activity.
Its also close to the strip if I recall. If two nights of back-2-back
Mexican isn't too much for the gals, I think this might be an good
option. As for me, I was raised on Mexican food so two night in a
row would not be a bad thing for me. I love Mexican. Si! Si! Si!!!!!!
Mucho Amor,
Rosada.
