This is our first major snag for the year. The good news is,
if there is any, is that it happened four weeks out and not
four days out, which has indeed happened to us in the past.
Anyway, comments and suggestions are welcome.

As of a few days (I just found out) ago the Plaza told Firefly
people that they can't have the restaurant open for special
events with the construction going on.
They are offering the groups that they had scheduled to be
catered ($25 per person) at the Downtownlv.net at 111 LV Blvd
(almost next door to Beauty Bar).
The Downtown Cocktail Room has other caters available also
(info that I'm waiting to get).
If we can work it out with them to have the WC as a happy hour
event (skip the caterer) and order off their appetizer menu,
would this work?
They have a $500 min. drink order for large groups.

Here are my immdiate thoughts, let's hear everyone else's, and
the sooner the better, please. I'll comment further shortly.
My first thought is the question, could Firefly Paradise handle
this? If they could, that would make things much easier and
would simply be a change of venue.
If this is not practical, I don't see any objection to simply
fork-lifting the entire affair into another nearby venue, as
long as they can handle the group and the gang here agrees on
it.
About the only things I would have objections to are the usual
suspects, such as:
1. Any cover, minimum per person, or charge "just to walk through
the door" and the like. To get a maximum turnout, there must be
no barier to entry. This is my primary concern!
2. Anything that reeks of the "C-word", convention. :)
Ideally, the three-part Happy Hour, Dinner, and postprandial
Quality Social Time would be the best, but I'm sure that
variations on this theme may work as well.
Another guideline I would like to introduce is to focus
entirely on the Monday evening situation, and not try to
do any timeslot shifting or mass reshuffling of any other
evening's activities this late in the game.
