JoAnn's words:

We are almost there!

And as Yogi Berra said: "When you come to the fork in the road.
.. Take it." So the Schedule will be set a week from this Saturday,
March 5th, and that will be "the fork in the road!"

The NSD Activity[or its Alternate] will not be happening this year. So
during the Diva Week I will be asking on an informal basis for inputs,
and ideas regarding an alternative activity for next year. At the
same time, I think this year's activities came up with some good new
ideas which are refinements on past ideas.

And the schedule does have some blocks of time for each of you to create
your own Vegas "experiences" and "excitement" during Diva Week.

An experience for everyone. Welcome to "Diva Week ".

Information for sign-up, Golf, High Tea peyment:

Since we're coming up to a major scheduling milestone at the
end of this coming week, we may be sending out more frequent
ORG mailings if needed. We ask all to please watch those
inboxes over the next week, read any ORG mailings ASAP, and
please respond promptly when and where appropriate.
. . . . .

Thanks to all for the great response to the call for information
and details. We're only missing a few details, and it looks like
we will be able to get activity sign-up rolled out on schedule.

Lots of the unknowns on the schedule have been cleared up, like
those nagging "TBA" items.

There are some details, mostly payment details, which we need
to solidify within the next several days.
. . . . .

But first, some numbers.

As of today the sign-up count is 201, but two, possibly three
of these are showing patterns of being invalid or bogus. One
(with SO) is a test case for activity sign-up, so that puts
our sign-up count at 196-197 and our estimated show-up count
at 161 or so. Registrations are coming in on average about
one per day.

When activity sign-up starts, we'll be able to get some better
turnout projections.

If we count all variants of Sue/Susan/Suzie we have SEVEN of
them this year. Variants of Nicole/Nikki come to five. Three
Lorraines this year, two of them coming from the UK. Three
Melissas and yes, three Annies, two of them from Omaha. :)
. . . . .

All: Please help us shake down and test activity sign-up!

We would appreciate a proofread and once-over of the big
activity sign-up screen. You can test it here:

http://www.geekbabe.com/cgi-bin/dlv/dlv2011hc.cgi?1290615300-593

This is the sign-up for a test attendee. Although we're mainly
interested in shaking out such things as typos and any incorrect
information, you can try signing up this attendee to shake down
the conflict and date control logic if you like.

Activity coordinators: If you're coordinating a sign-up activity,
please look at the above URL and be sure that the section which
covers your activity is to your liking.

Some information on that screen may be incomplete or in error,
particularly the items we're discussing in this mailing.

Oh, and for those of you who know how to "fake it" with your
roster order number, please don't do it just yet. Wait until
we have things more solid. We'll be restarting the activity
sign-up database on Sunday the 6th.
. . . . . . . . . .

We're still in need of a few pieces of information in order
to get this rolled out. Here are the items we need:

* Bare Escentuals

Ginger? Is this a "go"? Day/time please.
. . . . .

* Erotic Heritage Museum Tour - Tuesday evening

Sarah? We need a start time on this. Please let us know ASAP
as this may be driving a start time adjustment of the two
dining options that evening.
. . . . .

* Diva Las Vegas Invitational Golf - Wednesday

We already had one query about golf payment. This will appear
on the activity sign-up screen as soon as we get it.

Danielle? We need detailed payment information for golf. If this
is to be PayPal, we'll need the Paypal address to whom payment
is to be made.

If there will be other payment options, we'll need that too.

Also, we'll need the deadline DAY and TIME for payment and for
cancellation.
. . . . .

* Crossdress.com EON (Sara's Choice)? Sara? Can you please confirm
that PF Changs will be used for this?
. . . . .

* English High Tea (afternoon tea) - Friday

Marilyn? We need detailed payment instructions on this. If PayPal
is to be used, we'll need the Paypal address to whom payment is
to be made.

If there are other payment options, we'll need these as well.

Thanks, gang! :) Things are looking great!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Orphan activities:

The following individuals have exercised their "first refusal
rights" to (not) coordinate these activities.

If anyone else wants to take these on, please say so. Please
remember that if you want a sign-up or headcount for it, plans
will need to be semi-solid by next Sunday, March 6. If it's
planned after that, it will need to be no sign-up, just show
up.
. . . . . . . . . .

Sarah writes:

This (L.V. Mob Experience) is probably D.O.A. for this year unless
someone else wants to pick it up. I'd like to see if the LVME or
something similar has legs enough to be around next year and I'd
give it a shot.
. . . . . . . . . .

Bob writes:

We're passing on the SO get together this year.
. . . . . . . . . .

Jill writes:

The 107, although I love going there, will not fit into my
schedule at this time.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks for the updates, all.

Any volunteers for these?

Frank Marino Show:

Beverly writes:

Ok, Annie, here goes... if we could put the Frank Marino show on
the schedule for Wednesday night I would be willing to be the
hostess for it, as far as being a contact point at the Imperial
Palace and seeing about getting tickets together.

This would have to be a "sign up" event, possibly with payment
needed before the day of show. I will check into that if this
becomes a go. Tickets are advertised as $39-$79 range, but I
believe there are coupons as well as "Tix4Tonight" tickets
available.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

Thanks, Beverly.

As we did last year, we'll mark it on the schedule as a 9:30pm
start time so you can get the group assembled and ready to be
seated.
. . . . . . . . . .

Beverly continues:

Here is the lowdown on the Frank (Marino's) Divas Las Vegas show
at the Imperial Palace:

There are a couple of possibilities for tickets with this first
option being the one I would suggest.

1) Buying group tickets prior to the event so the group can be
sure that they can sit together. Ticket prices for this would
be $49* for VIP seating and $39* for general admission, ( * plus
taxes and fees brings the costs to $59.46 for VIP and $47.47 for
GA. Regular prices are $79* and $39*). Having been to a show at
the IP in the past I recommend getting the VIP tickets for better
seating.

2) Option 2 is waiting until the day of or day before and buying
tickets at the tix4tonight or half-off tickets. This would be a
cheaper route but doesn't guarantee that the group would be
sitting together.

Either way a head count would be needed prior to DLV to give me
an idea of how many to expect. I could take orders using Paypal
for advance ticket payment.
. . . . . . . . . .

Annie responds:

It's your call as to how you want to handle the ticketing and
group seating, but I'll offer some suggestions based on my
experience coordinating shows and how our people tend to behave.

It's my impression that the Frank Marino Show is most likely a
"four-walled" show, which means that the showroom staff reports
to the producers of the show and not to the management of the
venue. Two of the shows I've coordinated in the past (Kenny
Kerr and Showgirls Of Magic) were four-walled, and in all cases
it was easy to make arrangements to get us all seated together.

The magic words: "We will take care of the showroom staff." :) :)

You can try pre-payment with Paypal if you like, but our
experience is that very few will do it.

My suggestion is to do a collection in person at the Sunday
and Monday gatherings (you can "pimp" it there as well) and
then visit the box office on Tuesday. Stragglers could then
purchase tickets on their own and you $hould be able to get
the $tragglers $eated with the group with $ome kind word$ to
the $taff. :)

Anyway, please let us know the plans on this.

Music at Crewsn:

Bob writes (quoted):

>Sunday, April 3 @ 9pm, Susan and I will be performing classic rock
>n roll at Crews'n.

Thanks, Bob. As you know, we'll have quite a gang there that night.

We'll make a separate entry on the schedule for your performance.
. . . . .

>Wednesday, April 6 @ 8:30 until ???? @ Crews'n.

>Sassy to Classy Nite with a talent show.

>Sassy to classy is the dress code. Got some sassy or classy
>outfit that you only wear at home, this is your shot at wearing
>it in a safe haven. Also if you have some talent that you would like
>to show off, let me or Susan know what the talent is and how much
>time you need, so we can fit you into the show.

Bob, if you don't mind I'm gonna copy this over to the Discussion
Forum under the "What is ..." format.

This will also work well for a stop on the Bar Crawl that night.

The Big Burning Question is what kind of sign-ups do you need,
and how do you want the potential performers to contact you?

We can do this on the sign-up screen with a box to describe
the act or performance, or we can just have the potential
performers contact you via e-mail. Please let us know.

Margaritaville:

Sabrina writes:

I spoke with the guest relation manager at Margaritaville
today. Her Name is Jennifer Chung. She said that it would be
fine to have a cocktail hour at Margaritaville on Sunday April
3rd at 6:00 if we would like.

The area we talked about was the third or second floor, and it
would be open. This would be on a first come first served basis,
meaning no reserved area, no assigned seating, just general public.

I wasn't sure at the number of us that would attend so I told her
probably 20 - 30? Just guessing since there are already two other
venues scheduled for us at that time and I am sure some of the gurls
won't be in town for Sunday.

Please let me know if I am even in the ballpark with my thoughts.

We also talked about bathrooms, and she said that she would check
with their sister properties, Paris and Caesar's to see what their
guidelines were for groups like ours, but if nothing else if
someone wanted to use the bathroom they would have a manager
escort them. She mentioned they had other groups like ours there
before so this is not the first time, and that Margaritaville is
open to serve all the public. So if this sounds like something we
would like to do then I think we can plan on it.

There is nothing else she said we need to do. She will just
alert the manager on that day to expect us, and she asked how
long the group would be in town so she could let the staff know
that members of our group may stop in during the week. I will
also call her back once we know whether this will be on our
calendar, and perhaps we get an idea of how many girls we think
we will be there. If you have any questions you would like me
to get answered just let me know and I can ask them.

I am available to be the host for this activity, and Darlene
Broussard will be available to help me. She has volunteered to
help at Diva's this year, but says she never was contacted, so
I thought this would be a good and willing co-host. Now please
remember even though I have been to Diva's several times before
this is my first time hosting an event should we add this to our
schedule, so please contact me with all the things I need to
know to make this a good experience for everyone involved.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Sabrina.

We have it on the schedule, pending your final OK. Happy Hour
at 6:00pm, dinner at 7:00pm. Sign-up requested, not required,
"full" flag goes up at an estimated show-up count of 30.

As for capacity, if we have a total capacity of 30 at the
Margaritaville HH and dinner, that brings our total capacity
of all Sunday dining options to 100, which I'm sure will be
adequate for all who want to dine with the DLV group on
Sunday evening.

The only concern is the restroom situation. What's done is done,
but the best practice, determined from experience and stated in
our guidelines, is "don't ask, don't tell", as the answer is
usually what you don't want to hear.

We'll mark it as scheduled, pending your final decision in the
coming week.

Palms and IMAX:

Nikki writes:

Hello a I must apologize for the late info. I've just been so busy I
have to stop just to let my head spin.

I have been tracking the Brenden Theater closely. They had closed the
IMAX screen for an upgrade which is now complete. Tickets for the movie
will be $15 at the box office. Prior to the movie I will be in the food
court next to the Brenden Theater area at 9pm. This is located on the
west side of the Palms. There is a somewhat secluded entrance from the
west side parking area facing Arville Street for anyone not wanting to
enter through the main entrance. The theater could fill quickly so early
seating is recommended.

I picked the Bistro Buffet for my dinner option and pre-reserved a
section for up to 15 people which I can change pending the headcount at
sign-up.

I'm still at odds on the location of the happy hour within the Palms.
The main bar on the casino floor is my personal first choice but I may
be too daring at times. :)
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Nikki.

We'll do "sign-up requested" for dinner and put up the "full" flag
when the show-up count hits 15.

It's probably not absolutely necessary to have the exact Happy Hour
location for sign-up, but please let us know when it's solid so we
can get that on the final schedule.

Volunteering:

Katie writes (quoted):

I can't speak for the others, but I can for the Limo Tour.

You should have received (as of Friday) four messages with
regard to the Limo Tour. The system logs show that one of
them was received on your behalf by Yahoo on Friday at 7:54am
CST.

If you don't see these, check all of your folders, but you
are definitely on the Limo Team for 2011.

We'll be doing an exchange of information for the Frank Marino
Show once it is solid.

We'll definitely use you on the Limo Tour, as it takes several
to pull that one off. I hope you don't mind assisting with some
of the "heavy lifting" that's involved.
. . . . .

And JoAnn responds:

Katie--

I have you on my schedule to assist me Thursday afternoon to do the
"libation" purchase run at 4pm. I'll find you at one of the other
activities on Tuesday or Wednesday for a location to meet on Thursday.

Thanks for your help.

Dancing at Charlies:

Jill writes (quoted, from a conversation):

>I know there has been discussion about the 107 and the ladies night
>out that was started by me i guess. lol.

>It was such a great event. But there may be something better and I
>wanted to get your opinion and support if it happpens.

>Some of the girls I associated with look forward to a night at
>Charlie's dancing. On Thursday night they hold free dance
>lessions from 7 to 9, then have dancing after that. Seems like it
>would be a good venue and give an alternative to the Lemo Ride and
>the Fab.

We're kind of up against a time crunch here, so I want to get
this on the fast track.

The two items (Level 107 and Dancing at Charlies) do not have
to be mutually exclusive. We could have one or the other or
both, depending on what you and others are willing to volunteer
to coordinate.

Since we now have a reasonably full schedule on Tuesday and
Wednesday, we can now consider adding something else, such
as Dancing At Charlies on Thursday. It's something lower in
cost and Charlies is a very "safe" venue, so if you give the
final OK on this, it will balance the Thursday schedule very
nicely.

>I would not be adverse to trying to co-host with someone and try to
>have a couple of drawings, one for those who attend the dance lessions
>and one for those who come later to dance. But I have a couple of
>questions.

>What does a host do for and at the events?

For something like this, you probably do not need a co-host(ess)
or assistant. Something like this would be one step above
trivial, where you simply name an open to the public place
and agree to be there.

The only real "duty" of a host(ess) for something like this
is to agree to absolutely, positively be there on time. This
is very important so that others, particularly those who are
new and shy of exposure will have a friendly face to welcome
them.

>What is the reputation of Charilies?

Good.

On the Big List, Charlies has a rating of 9.3 (out of 10) for
satisfaction and 10.0 for comfort plus two positive comments
and no derogs. That's about as good as you can get! :) It's
on the short list for a visit during the Bar Crawl this year
on Wednesday, since we'll be focusing on places we have not
visited in the past.

>I know some girls have gone there and had a great time although I
>have never been there and only seen their web site.

I've heard only good things about it. Never been there myself
but probably will this year on the Bar Crawl.

>I look forward to hearing from you. I know a decision needs to be
>made quickly.

Here's the story on timing.

Anything which needs a sign-up or a headcount needs to be
solid as far as day, time, and (if it applies, which in this
case it does not) price by Sunday, March 6. We want to roll
out activity sign-up starting on March 7. That means that we
will need your final "go" on this by March 6 at the latest.

After March 6, any additions to the schedule need to be on a
"no sign-up, just show up" basis. For something like Dancing
At Charlies I would suggest doing a sign-up for an approximate
headcount, since without it you don't know if you will get a
handful or a mob.

Thanks for taking the initiative on this. :)

>Make this a go.

>I will be there by 7 on Thursday. That is the beginning of the
>dance lessions. So I guess the listing would be in two parts.
>Dance Lessions 7-9 and Dancing from 10-???.

Ok, we'll put this on the schedule in two parts. Please check
the timing on the working schedule below.

We'll do "sign-up requested" for the lessons and "sign-up
requested for headcount for the dancing portion.

One question, is there any charge, other than for drinks
and such, for the lessons? Cover charge?

Actually two questions. What type of dance lessons? IIRC,
Charlies is/was a country theme bar. Is this line dancing
or something else?

>I would like to promote this and have a drawing as well. One
>for those attending dances and one for those attending the
>lessons to see if we can get a good attendance. I would like
>an approximate, so that I could talk with Charlies mamagement
>and may keep a specific area open for attendees, though not
>exclusive so they can interact with others as well.

What I would suggest you do is to write this up in the format
of "What Is A ..." and post it to the DLV Discussion Forum
sometime within the next few weeks. Describe the drawings you
have in mind, etc.

On another subject - Secret Cabaret:

We've received a report that the Secret Cabaret, which opened
last fall, has closed.

Can anyone here confirm or refute this? The web site appears to
be live. I would like to kill it from the Big List if it has
indeed closed.

Thanks.
