Org List:

This is the DLV 2011 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com)

JoAnn's Thoughts:

It is now time to close off the Planning Phase. So let us have March
4th as the "close-off". Of course, as Project Manager I might want
another week to do "scrum and clean-up" to make sure all is finalized.
This has been an extraordinary Organization Team Year with the shorter
schedule. So much thanks. So if you see me continually hugging all of
you during Diva Week it is because I feel so exhilarated by all of you
who have volunteered.

The week is about you, and I will be celebrating it with you!!

You did not have to do anything, but you heard the call and answered....
much thanks.!!!!

Annie and I are very happy.

And now the following "housekeeping items below"...

JoAnn
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
A few hanging items:

First, reviewing some numbers.

Total sign-up as of Wednesday morning is 191, and out of those
the machine says that 157 will show. This is not counting two
registrations for which we have no means of contact, nor the
test attendee which was un-cancelled to shake down the activity
sign-up.

Thanks to all who responded to help "fill in the blanks" on the
missing information. This list is a fraction of its size in the
last mailing!

A prompt response on all of these remaining items will be
appreciated:

Sabrina? Margaritaville on Sunday? Go? No-go?
. . . . .

Sarah? Mob Experience? Any movement here?
. . . . .

Nikki? Palms dining? Any decision on the restaurant? We would
like to have the particular restaurant nailed down prior to
activity sign-up as it will give a far more accurate headcount
that to simply say "At The Palms" or something.
. . . . .

Ginger? Bare Escentuals? Day? Time?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Getting ready for activity sign-up:

We need to get the details of the activities which will require
a sign-up solid. Please look over this list, noting a few things,
including ...

1. If your activity is NOT listed, it means it's marked as "no
sign-up, just show up" on our master schedule. If you will be
needing a sign-up for any activity which is not on this list,
now is the time to say so.

2. Please check day, time, location, and price on these, as these
are the details which will appear on the activity sign-up screen.

All: Please look these over for a sanity check.

Firefly:

Marisa writes (quoted):

>It looks as if Firefly is, the choice for the WC.

>Should I take care of the contract?

Yes, please.

If anyone present knows of any reason why Marisa should not pull
the trigger, speak now or forever ...

>We also need to put our menu choices together. Does anyone have
>favorites on the menu or should we just go with what Valerie at
>firefly says are their most popular and simplest to prepare for
>our event? She suggested the steak and chicken skewers so far.
>Add baked tilapia, shrimp tempura, garden salad, stuffed dates,
>albondigas(meatballs), filet mignon sliders, veggies, fries and what
>else or drop some of these? The stuffed peppers, mushroom tarts and
>the empanada went down one $ from last year.

Gang? Any preferences?

I say let Marisa make the call here, but I'm not everyone.

>Should we add Firefly on Paradise as a dining option for anyone
>that missed their favorite on our short menu at the WC? Maybe
>tuesday before the EHM event that Sarah Charles is doing a great
>job on.

We most definitely need another dining option on Tuesday, and
if it could segue into the EHM, all the better. If course the
driving force regarding timing will be that of the EHM tour.

I'm going to put it on the schedule at the standard time in
order to let it roll up into sign-up and the like, but it can
be adjusted if need be.

Depending on when the EHM starts, we may want to check with
Rosada to see if an adjustment of her start time may be in
order as well.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Makeovers:

Laura T. writes (quoted):

>Monday MAC is a go. 2:00pm smaller group, 5 including myself.
>Public session, ladies comfortable being out in public.

Thanks, Laura. It's on the schedule.

>If Ginger needs help with Bare Essentuals I can help. I
>attended last year.

You might want to touch base with Ginger directly. You should
have received contact info previously but let us know if you
need a re-send.

Shooting volunteer needed:

All, particularly shooting fans: The shooting activity is at
risk unless we can get a volunteer to jump in here and assist.

Vanessa is willing to do the "heavy lifting", so this will be
fairly easy. What you'll need to do is oversee the activity
during DLV and receive some material to be shipped. See below.

Since this activity will definitely need a sign-up, we'll need
to have a volunteer on record by Sunday, March 6, which is just
over a week away.

If we don't have a volunteer on record by that time, we will
unfortunately have no alternative but to strike the shooting
activity from the schedule.
. . . . .

Vanessa writes:

My Ability to attend DLV is still up in the air and if I can make
it to Vegas it may be very much a last minute matter. Gina is also
conflicted and will likely not make it either.

I can make reservations at Discount Guns at 3084 S. Highland and
reserve some positions on the range for Friday morning and ship
the "Annie Oakley" Trophies to someone who is willing to supervise
the activity.

Has anyone else expressed interest in helping with this....it would
also be good if the hostess could bring a few guns along. Believe
me I wish my calendar was freed up for April because I would
certainly rather be in Vegas.

Fremont Street Experience:

Delaney writes:

Wendnesday would be fine. For me, I would like to do the limo
tour and the air flight, but other than those, I can work in
Fremont any other night (I just realized, the air flight is
daylight, so other than Thursday PM, I'm OK).

I would prefer to meet at the IP, but can work with other
locations. My thought would be to get together about 8 PM,
and take cabs to Fremont. I have been to Fremont during the
day, and last I went (half a dozen years ago) cabs were pretty
much the only option. If you know of a better transportation
approach, or think there is a better time or meetup location
choice, I am open for suggestions.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Delaney.

We're going to be using Betty's Cyber Cafe at the IP, toward the
rear, as a rendezvous location for some other activities so that
will probably be the best. You can then decide on travel options.

Some will probably want to drive. If you don't have enough seats,
taxis are probably the best since the Strip bus is very slow and
many of our people are quite shy of things like that.

One thing I would suggest is to have a "touch base" location
somewhere downtown, to allow those who want to join you later
or those who miss the movement from the IP to FSE to catch up
with you.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Show:

Ginger writes:

>Ginger? Show(s)? Any decision(s) here?

Terry Fator seems to be recommended pretty often by some of
Kay's friends and a few DLV people. ...

I'd rather do it Tuesday night. We should also be able to get
better seats on Tuesday night. ...

I'll give you the full details on ticket purchase for Tuesday
night tomorrow assuming the Mirage web site is working and/or
they are answering the phone
. . . . . . . . .

Thanks Ginger.

I'll put it down on Tuesday, start time 7:00pm, ticket purchase
required, sign-up requested for headcount. We can add the ticket
purchase details to the sign-up screen when you get them.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Erotic Heritage Museum:

Sarah writes:

I'm waiting for a followup response from the EHM, but they
seem to be pretty flexible on both size of the group and start
time. I'm waiting to see how much time we should allow for the
tour and how they feel about attendees dressing somewhat more
provocatively to celebrate the nature of the museum.

I should have an answer by mid week and we can put this on on
the schedule in pen.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Sarah.

I'm going to get this on the schedule using 8:00pm as a place
holder so it will properly roll up into the sign-up screen
and such.

I know there's been some out-of-band communications on this.

Please let us know when the time is solid, also please confirm
the price and the capacity limit.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Updates:

Sara writes:

Wednesday evening "Sara's Choice"... this will likely be at PF
Chang's at Planet Hollywood but I'm still awaiting the final
confirmation.

Re: Macy's makeover... working out the final details there as
well. Will have before the schedule goes out to the group for
sign-ups.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Sara.

I think PF Changs will be an excellent choice.

Please let us know as things are finalized.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
SO Get Together:

Bob writes:

I will decide whether I will be doing the SO by next Friday. I
realize this is pushing the envelope, but it just has to be that
way, because of circumstances beyond my control.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Bob.

You're only up against a time crunch if you want a sign-up. If
it's no-sign-up-just-show-up you still have plenty of time to
work out the details.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

. . . . .

>I really don't know how to check to see if I am signed up to be
>a big sister @ IP.

The important thing is to be sure you've filled out the Big
Sister Volunteer form. If you've done this, Nora has it and
can use you. If you haven't done it, return to the registration
screen and fill out the form.
. . . . .

>I will offer to folks to take them shopping informally this
>year and see how it goes.

You might post a note to this effect in the Discussion Forum
the week before DLV.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Jam Session:

>Bob? Susan? Jam Session or similar thing you were talking about?

I won't be able to finalize anything until next Friday. I will be
talking to the owner of the venue on Thursday.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Bob. Please keep us in the loop and let us know the
details as soon as you can.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Gordie Brown:

>Katie? Gordie Brown on Wednesday? Go? No-go? JoAnn asked you
>if you were willing to do this a few list cycles back and we
>do not have a response on file.

Hi.

I would love to have got more involved this year but Sorry but
I must say no. My wife will be with me and we need some time
together without Katie in the mix as it is her vacation too.
I arrive late Monday evening and already have a full schedule.
I promise If I go next year I will likely hostess more than one
event.
