JoAnn's Words:

When reading this draft mailing to the Org Group, it was exciting for
me to see so many of you having "stepped up" to make this Diva Week
schedule really offer many options with fun things to do. Yah!
Volunteers!!

We really have an exciting schedule and it is do to all of you who took
ownership and understand that many will enjoy the benefits from each of
our efforts.

This is truly a situation where the rewards of contributing far outweigh
the efforts of your contribution.

On behalf of Annie and myself I say -- A Special Thanks

JoAnn Segrue

Remaining weak spots:

Thanks to all who have taken action, our weak spots are not
nearly as severe as they were on our last pass through the
schedule.

First, let's look at some numbers:

The flood gates are open!

As of Tuesday, we have 174 signed up and the algorithm says
that 145 of these will show up. If we assume that 75% of the
registrations that will come in are in, this extrapolates to
232 sign-ups and 193 show-ups. If we assume a more conservative
figure of 80% of the registrations being in, we get 217 on the
sign-up side and 181 on the show-up side. These are the rough
ballpark numbers on which things appear to be converging. As
you can see, a total turnout of 200 is within striking distance!

Again, as a reminder, we now have 18 days until anything which
requires a sign-up or a headcount needs to be solid as far as
timeslot and price.

Let's go over each day, both daytime and evening, and discuss
where things stand.
. . . . . . . . . .

Sunday daytime:

+Sunday, April 3:
+ 11:00am: Religious Services (Metropolitan Community Church) - sv

Sunday afternoon has room for some kind of social or touristy
type thing. I don't think that it's imperative that we have
something in here, but it might be nice and enjoyable by those
who are in town.

Do we want or need a Sunday lunch? (I don't know, I'm asking.)
. . . . .

Sunday evening:

+ 6:00pm: Happy Hour options (various)
+ 6:00pm: Caesars Happy Hour (Caesars) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Paris Happy Hour (Paris) - ms
+ 6:00pm: PT's Happy Hour (PT's Pub Sahara) - ms
+ 7:00pm: Dining options (various)
+ 7:00pm: Caesars Buffet Dinner (Caesars) - ms
+ 7:00pm: Mon Ami Gabi dinner (Mon Ami Gabi) - ms
+ 7:00pm: PT's Dinner (PT's Pub Sahara) - ms
+ 8:30pm: After-dinner options (various)
+ 8:30pm: Mainstream Common Gathering (PT's) - ms
+ 8:30pm: Alternative Common Gathering (Crewsn) - sv

Sunday evening is looking great! With the addition of the
Margaritaville HH and dining option (Sabrina, any decision?)
it will be solid. Big thanks to those who stepped up to make
it so. :)
. . . . . . . . . .

Monday daytime:

+Monday, April 4:
+ 8:00am: Air Tours (Henderson Executive Airport) - ms
+ 11:00am: Studio Lites Open House (Studio Lites) - sv
+ 1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (Stratosphere Buffet) - ms
+ 3:30pm: Beginner Open House (See notes) - sv

Monday daytime could use one of more low-key late morning or
early afternoon things, but we do want to avoid anything that
is intense enough to impact the turnout fot the evening.

We do have a tentative MAC session early afternoon. (below)
. . . . .

Monday evening:

+ 6:00pm: Happy Hour (Firefly Plaza) - mv
+ 7:00pm: Dinner (Firefly Plaza) - mv
+ 8:30pm: Welcome Celebration (Firefly Plaza) - mv
+ 9:30pm: Group Photo (Firefly Plaza) - ms
+ 10:00pm: Beauty Bar Karaoke (Beauty Bar) - ms

Monday evening is solid!
. . . . . . . . . .

Tuesday daytime:

+Tuesday, April 5:
+ 9:00am: Some Like It Hot at Shiloh (Shiloh Horse Ranch) - ms
+ 11:00am: Glamour Boutique Open House (Glamour Boutique) - sv
+ 1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (LV Hilton Buffet) - ms
+ 2:00pm: Neon Boneyard Tour (Neon Museum) - ms
+ 3:00pm: Beginner Open House (See notes) - sv

Tuesday daytime appears to be close to solid. Good mix!
. . . . .

Tuesday evening:

Tuesday evening now appears to be our weakest spot.

+ 6:00pm: Happy Hour (Chapella's) - ms
+ 7:00pm: Mexican Dining (Chapella's) - ms
+ 7:00pm: Dinner At Home (See notes) - sv
+ 9:00pm: Pajama Party (See notes) - sv

We have the Erotic Heritage Museum in here (Sarah, any decision
on timeslot?) and the Bob/Susan production may eventually land
here, but the two dining options are only going to be able to
serve a fraction of our in-town people.

We most definitely need another dining option in here, perhaps
coupled with the EHM thing.

If the NSD-replacement happens, it will fill out and solidify
Tuesday. (see below)

There's also been some discussion of a show on Tuesday evening,
and if that is to happen we need to solidify the plans.
. . . . . . . . . .

Wednesday daytime:

+Wednesday, April 6:
+ 8:00am: DLV Invitational Golf (Desert Rose) - ms
+ 1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (Harrahs Buffet) - ms
+ 3:00pm: Beginner Open House (See notes) - sv
+ 3:00pm: Madame Tussauds Wax Museum (Madame Tussauds, Venetian) - ms

Wednesday might be a good day for the Harmony Nail Spa Open
House.
. . . . .

Wednesday evening:

+ 6:00pm: Happy Hour options (various)
+ 6:00pm: Buffalo Happy Hour (The Buffalo) - sv
+ 6:00pm: Sara's choice (TBA)
+ 6:00pm: Nikki's choice (Palms)
+ 6:00pm: Spotlight Happy Hour (Spotlight Lounge) - sv
+ 7:00pm: Eating Out Night (various)
+ 7:00pm: Milano's option (Milano's) - mv
+ 7:00pm: Sara's choice (TBA)
+ 7:00pm: Nikki's choice (Palms)
+ 7:00pm: Namaste Indian option (Namaste Indian Cuisine) - ms

With the addition of Nikki's Palms dining option (see below),
the Wednesday dining situation is shaping up nicely.

One more dining option will not hurt here, however.

Wednesday evening, after dinner, is another weak spot.

+ 8:30pm: Mainstream-Alternative Night (various)
+ 8:30pm: Alternative Bar Crawl (Buffalo) - sv
+ 9:45pm: IMAX Movie Night (Brendan Palms IMAX) - ms
+ 11:59pm: Late Night Clubbing (Krave) - sv

One show option will most likely happen one way or another,
and this is another potential timeslot for the Bob/Susan
affair as well.

Let's please get all of these items solidified enough so we
can get enough information to get activity sign-up rolled out
on time.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thursday daytime:

+Thursday, April 7:
+ 9:00am: Mount Charleston Excursion (Mount Charleston) - ms
+ 9:00am: MAC Makeovers (MAC Town Square) - ms
+ 1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (Paris Buffet) - ms

Thursday daytime, particularly the afternoon, has some room.
. . . . .

Thursday evening:

+ 6:00pm: Pre-Limo Happy Hour (Trevi) - ms
+ 6:00pm: Pre-Fab Happy Hour (McMullan's) - ms
+ 7:00pm: Pre-Limo Dinner (Trevi) - ms
+ 7:00pm: Pre-Fab Dinner (McMullan's) - ms
+ 8:00pm: The Fab (Beatles Tribute) (Brendan's Irish Pub,
+ 9:00pm: Limousine Tour (Caesars) - ms

Thursday evening looks good with two strong well-defined tracks.
. . . . . . . . . .

Friday daytime:

+Friday, April 8:
+ 2:00am: Charles Bar (Bellagio) - ms
+ 9:00am: Pistol-Rifle Shooting (TBD) - ms
+ 1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (Imperial Palace Buffet) - ms
+ 2:00pm: High Tea (Four Seasons) - ms
+ 3:30pm: Makeover sessions (session 1) (Macy's) - ms
+ 4:30pm: Makeover sessions (session 2) (Macy's) - ms

Friday daytime is close to solid.

We do need to get the shooting activity solidified.
. . . . .

Friday evening:

+ 6:00pm: Happy Hour (Bahama Breeze) - mv
+ 7:00pm: Dinner (Bahama Breeze) - mv
+ 8:30pm: Farewell Celebration (Bahama Breeze) - mv
+ 9:30pm: Dancing at Paris (Paris) - ms

And Friday evening is solid.

Thanks, everyone!

NSD replacement:

Laura T writes:

I will volunteer to help with the NSD alternative event. I am
concerned it will interfere with my other volunteer work: Trevi
and the limo tour.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Laura. That makes two out of three.

We'll need one more committed volunteer if this is to happen.

We are getting very close to a drop-dead time on this, so we
will need to have this third volunteer by next week at this time
in order to get the initial plans laid in time.

It probably will not interfere with your involvement in the
Trevi Dinner nor the Limo Tour. Tuesday evening was kind of
earmarked for NSD or a replacement way back when. The only
other evening something like this could fit would be Wednesday.

PTs on Sunday:

Crystal writes:

>Would you and/or Holli ... be willing to go there a little earlier
>so we could have a HH and dining activity there? We would very much
>appreciate it.

Sure, no problem. Holli and I can host a HH and Dinner at PT's
followed by a mainstream after dinner option there. Sounds fun.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Crystal and Holli! Sunday is looking pretty good now
and we do appreciate this! :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Wednesday night dining:

Nikki writes:

Hi. Is there a HH/dinner option or recommendation in or near the Palms
for Wednesday night?
. . . . . . . . . . .

There are several very good restaurants at the Palms. The problem
will be figuring out which one to use.

The most famous, of course, is the "N9NE" steakhouse, a true
celebrity A-List hangout. If you want a high-end option for
Wednesday's Eating Out Night, this is it! :) $$$$$$$$$$!

If you're looking for a more reasonable option, they say that
the buffet has been recently re-done and expanded and is quite
good. There's also (was?) a very good coffee shop type place
which is/was a cut above most casino coffee shops. I say "was"
because I haven't been there for a while and the coffee shops
in several off-Strip places have been replaced with chain joints
like Fridays.

IIRC, there's also Mexican and Italian places, never eaten at
either, but they looked to be on the up side of midscale.

We'll mark this "Nikki's Choice" on the schedule for now.

Just let us know which option (or options) you settle on in
the next two weeks.

Thanks, Nikki. :)

High Tea update:

Marilyn writes:

We are all set for the high-tea at the Four Seasons on Friday
at 2 pm. We have a new point of contact and they are familiar
with our group.

Normally the tea doesn't start until 3PM, but they were nice
enough to move it up to 2 PM. The price for this year will be
the same as last year ($40 and that includes the sales tax and
tip).

The question, as always, is how to pay since they use my credit
card and require the number of attendess 72 hours in advance
(Tuesday at 2). Last year we had two options: 1) pay cash to
Danielle or myself in person by Tuesday at noon or 2) pay Amy
at Glamour Boutique. The second option allowed tea-goers to pay
by credit card over the phone if they couldn't do option 1.

For this year we have three more volunteers besides myself
and Danielle. Laura Tom, Crystal and Gabi will also be available
for cash payments. I'm planning to call Amy at Glamour Boutique
this week to see if she is willing to help us out again.

I'm skeptical of using Pay-Pal since I need to protect my
identity and I'm not sure how it works on the receiving of
payments where my true identity is still protected. Of course,
if anyone else is willing to provide Pay Pal for High Tea that
would be well appreciated.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks for the update, Marilyn.

It sounds like you do have quite a few volunteers to take
payment, and we'll need to denote these on the sign-up screen
and in the Large Final Mailing.

I do know that some people in the TG community have successfully
opened a Paypal account under a pseudonymous name, but I'm not
sure of how it was done. I assume it's possible if a checking
account or a credit card is held under that name.

JoAnn will be touching base with Amy regarding taking payment
for various activities, and that will most likely occur within
the next list cycle, so we'll have some details on that option
shortly.

Beginner Open House:

Sarona writes:

Hello from Sarona, updating you about the beginner open house
events.

On Monday, people should call after 3pm because I won't know the
room number before then. So, maybe it would be better to schedule
the beginner open house from 3:30 pm that day and leave it at 3pm
for Tuesday/Wednesday.

People can email me at: batikbearer@yahoo.com for information
about the open house and pajama party, etc. before the day of
the events - you have my permission to give out this email address.

Map/Location can be listed near Hooters (on Tropicana/Duke Ellington
Way) if you want to give people an idea of the part of town.

if there were a single, main gathering on Sunday evening, people
could find me there to ask questions or get my phone number, etc.
but with two choices, i don't think we can manage it that way this
year.

maybe i will try to check into the timeshare on Sunday so that
I already know the room number, but i need many more timeshare
points for that so was trying to avoid it. Tuesday and Wednesday
will be much easier of course.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks for the updates, Sarona. Please let us know when you
have a decision on the time of the first BOH. We'll move it
to 3:30pm on Monday until you say otherwise. It is a very
good idea to be consistent on start times if at all possible.
We can sort out the contact items as the date approaches.

We'll note the approximate location on the map.

Since Sunday's two gatherings will be happening in the same
general area, within a few blocks of each other on Sahara,
it will definitely be possible to visit both without too much
trouble and catch people in person if you want to.

Horse Rescue rendezvous:

Beverly writes:

I will be attending this event as well as the flying activity on
Monday morning and the golf on Wednesday morning. I will be staying
at the Imperial Palace and could act as the contact person for the
early morning rendezvous at Betty's Cyber Cafe' for each of these
events. I will have a car and can offer rides to a few adventurous
soles as well.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Beverly.

It appears that we'll most likely have enough seats for those
who wish to attend.

Harmony Nail Spa:

Norma writes:

At this time, I am not sure if I will be able to attend DLV this year.
It might be best for someone else to contact Harmony.

But I can phone them and set them up.

Would you like me to do that?
. . . . . . . . . . .

Yes, please, if you don't mind.

It looks like Wednesday would be a good fit here.

We do hope you make it, but if you don't, I'm sure we can get
a pinch-hitter to step in and provide DLV representation.

MAC Makeovers:

Laura T writes:

Looking at the schedule I would like make it Thursday morning
about 9:00am, Town Square location (6605 Las Vegas Blvd.

Location is quieter that forum shop location, only 2 dedicated
MAC stores.

Sorry it interferes with the Mount Charleston excursion.

9:00am because I didn't want it too early so late in the week
and 1 hour before MAC opens to have the store to ourselves for
a little while. Also early enough for those uncomfortable around
the general public. About 10 ladies? Need signup and email
address or cell phone contact info.

Hope our makeup stays intact until the limo tour? Will arrange
this week.

I was also thinking about a smaller group on Monday about 2:00pm
(I have the air tour at 8:00am) about 4 ladies beside myself who
are okay with being there during normal store hours and before
the Welcome dinner. I can check with the manager.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Laura.

We'll get the Thursday session on the schedule and keep the
Monday one as tentative until you say otherwise. We'll need
a go/no-go on the Monday session prior to March 6, please.

Both the MAC session and the Mount Charleston thing will be
smaller activities in the early morning timeslot, so I do
not envision any serious contention.

We'll get you e-mail and phone numbers (for those who supply
them) of those who sign up.

Makeovers:

Kumiko writes:

I was wondering... I know we have a make over session at
Macy's covered by Sara in the org mailings.

I was just thinking about this and sent this email.

I'm not sure who planned last year or if that attendee is coming
this year, but should we be ignoring the gal (can't remember her
name - Stacy?) working at that Bare Escentials shop, who gave
us her time and many make overs for many attendees at that Bare
Escential Shop in the Fashion Show Mall (I think that was the
mall) last year? I'm not even sure that employee is still there
either.

I remember because I bought and am using stuff from her and her
staff at that time, and am still on their email mailing list
and receiving their specials.

I think she might be disappointed if she wanted us back this year,
and we didn't do a thing to contact her.

I guess someone will have to volunteer for that too.

Oh well...
. . . . . . . . . .

Ginger hasn't forgotten. This was mentioned a few list cycles
back and wheels are turning, but a timeslot has not yet been
assigned.
