This mailing, Detailed schedule review and proofread:

This mailing has all ORG material received through Saturday
evening. Items received later will appear in the next ORG
mailing.
. . . . . . . . . .

I know this is a major pain in the @$$, but we would appreciate
everybody giving the full detailed schedule, as is sits now,
the once-over.

This appears toward the bottom of this mailing.

It's far from complete, but there are now over 50 activities on
it and I'm sure there are a few errors and omissions.

This is the complete detailed schedule. This is the one which
will appear in the Large Final Mailing.

It's also the one from which the printed summary will be made,
assuming we get a volunteer to duplicate it this year.

A few things to look for, specifically, which have cause us
grief in the past:

* First and foremost. The start time (and day) of your activity.
If this is wrong (and it has been occasionally in the past), it
can cause a lot of headaches and complaints!

All coordinators and assistants: Please double-check to be sure
that we have the correct start time on the schedule.

In some cases it's best to list the time that people should
arrive, as opposed to an official start time.

All lunch times have been standardized to 1:00pm, all happy
hour times have been standardized to 6:00pm, and dinner times
have been standardized at 7:00pm. If there are compelling
reasons for something to be changed, it can be, but unless it's
absolutely necessary, please keep things like this at their
standard times.

* Spelling, typos, grammatical errors.

* Activity location errors.

* Price errors. These do sneak by us and generate complaints!

* Where to meet the group. Are these correct?

* Coordinator and assistant. Are all listed?

* Sign-up. Is this the type of sign-up you want?

One thing we've added this year is parking instructions. These
need to be terse, but we do want them to be accurate.

Please don't worry about the map symbols or anything that
refers to an obvious reference to get updated information.

For notes, about anything can be added, but this needs to be
brief and should be reserved for items genuinely significant.

Please report any errors or issues by simply replying to this
mailing.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Activity Highlights:

One feature we would like to continue this year is the weekly
(or so) posting of a "What is a / What is the" activity highlight
in the Discussion Forum.

This is, of course, to generate interest in the various activities
which make up DLV as a whole.

We would like to invite all activity coordinators to either
post such items directly to the Discussion Forum or else send
in items to ORG and we'll get them posted.

Please give us a concise description of your activity, and do
include information which is likely to generate questions such
as when it will be happening, how much it will cost, and the
suggested dress for the activity. Please avoid "ifs" and any
unknowns.

We'll also be looking over items posted in previous years and
updating and reposting them as appropriate.

Movie and Late Night Clubbing:

Nikki writes:

During DLV week the IMAX feature at the Brendon Theater Las Vegas Palms
is going to be "Sucker Punch". Not a whole lot of buzz for this movie
but should be quite an IMAX 3D experience. I'm thinking this will target
the younger 18-24 yo crowd. Young girls running around in a fantasy
world dressed like sluts killing zombies, Nazis, samurais and machines.
The creators of this movie had many wet dreams about video games lol.

On Wednesday night this will be up against the bar crawls as it was two
years ago. I think only 6 of us showed up to see Star Trek that year.

I will be there just to go see a movie in IMAX.

Not to be outdone by the party crawlers, I will be ending my night at
Krave after the movie.

If showtimes stay consistent the last show will be at 9:50pm.
. . . . . . . . . .

Thanks, Nikki.

Let's put the Imax Movie on the schedule for 9:45. Let us know
if you want to substitute an earlier show or a different posted
start time.

Let's also plan to end the Bar Crawl at Krave around midnight
or so. We may have some who skip this last stop, due to being
partied out or due to the fact that Krave has a cover, but I
think it will work.

In fact, I'm gonna make a schedule entry "Late Night Clubbing"
for Krave at 11:59 and let's see if we can catch some others
who do not do the Bar Crawl. :)

cd.com and makeovers:

Sara writes (quoted):

>>The cd.com dinner and social would also work here, but you
>>would probably have a lesser turnout than you would on Tuesday.

>I'm still trying to figure out if I'm coming in on Monday or
>Wednesday but regardless, I'm leaning towards doing this on
>Wednesday.

>Remember, this is simply a "tag" to an event open to all as
>sort of a magnet for those who participate on that message
>board site. I do have a venue in mind if we need to pencil in
>another dining option and should know for sure this coming
>Saturday.

Thanks.

We'll mark it as "Sara's Choice" for now. When you settle on
it we'll rename it and add the venue.

Now, let's confirm exactly what this is gonna be and how long
it's gonna last.

Do you want this to be just a Happy Hour and Dinner, or do you
want an after-dinner social mixer type of thing as well. If so
we can put that part on the after-dinner part of the schedule
and you may pick up some who choose to eat elsewhere.

Please let us know on this.

Susan? Wanna do this? Wanna do something else?
. . . . .

>>>don't mind the attention but seems like a Wednesday or Thursday

>So far the product lines that are likely to be involved are
>Estee Lauder and Dior.

>There is a chance that freelance artists might be brought in

>be a sign-up event and there will be a minimum purchase
>requirement which of course is a very fair thing considering
>these artists are giving their time to help us look our best
>and rely on sales to meet production and/or commission goals.

>I will have a lot of other details to share soon, whether with
>Org or for the general mailing. Let me finish by saying this, I
>am doing a lot of advance planning to ensure that this highly
>mainstream event goes off as such a wonderful & memorable
>experience for all.

Thanks, Sara, and we do appreciate all of your efforts on
everything.

Please let us know the details when you have them and we'll
work with you on scheduling and getting things added to the
sign-up screens and such.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Bahama Breeze:

Alanna writes (quoted, from a conversation, slight edit):

>>>Bahama contacted me asking if I have a decision about group
>>>menu or full menu. Thanks

>>The final call is really up to you and your team, but if I'm
>>readng the comments correctly, the preference is for the full
>>menu and take our chances on the room.

>Friday close event is confirmed for full menu at 18% tip per
>individual check. They will try to keep a preferred spot open.
>I will give them a more accurate head count as we get closer.

Thanks, Alanna! :) Looks great. We really appreciate this! :)

We'll give you running headcounts as soon as activity sign-up
opens.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Art tours and such:

Sarah writes (quoted, slight edit):

>There was some mention of trips to the Erotic Heritage Museum
>and the Pawn Stars shop earlier in the discussion. Is anyone
>working on either of these?

I thought that you (meaning either you personally or others
on the Art Tour Team such as Marisa) were.

A quick grep of the list archives shows many mentions of this
but nothing even tentative as far as actually doing it.

Laura T. considered doing it, but, as a new volunteer, is
unsure about it. Perhaps you (Art Tour Team) can recruit Laura
and give her some guidance and support.

>The Neon Museum Boneyard tour takes advance reservations for
>1-4 people without requiring pre-payment. Will those interested
>in that trip be willing to make their own connections to avoid
>the mess that pre-payment seems to bring?

If you're thinking in terms of simply having others phone in
reservations for (up to 4) all for the same tour time, I may,
depending on the final schedule, be able to do that, assuming
it eventually ends up in a timeslot I'm free for. I'm sure others
can do this as needed.

Now ... let's talk about scheduling ...

<wonkmode>
Sorry for being pedantic here, and this really goes to all, not
just Sarah.

It's perfectly OK to discuss activities on the Discussion Forum,
brainstorm, seek feedback, examine the level of interest, etc.
That's fine and encouraged. That's what the Discussion Forum is
for.

However, when it comes to the actual scheduling and the selection
of timeslots, that discussion needs to happen here, on the ORG
mailing. This is particularly important in these final months and
weeks as our schedule fills up. We need to balance things and fill
in the weak spots. Everyone's understanding and cooperation are
very much appreciated. Thanks.

Thus endeth the sermon. :)
</wonkmode>

>I would like to put {neon boneyard} on the schedule for Tuesday
>afternoon if that makes any difference.

We have it down for 2:00pm (posted tour time) Tuesday. Please
let us know if things change.

>I've also been thinking that the Wax Museum might be good for
>later on Wednesday afternoon, finishing up so people could go
>from there to freshen up just before dinner.

Wednesday afternoon is wide open so far, and yes, this would
be a good fit. Let's put it on the schedule for 3:00pm on
Wednesday to hold the spot. Please let us know if/when this is
solid or if it needs to be adjusted.

>If the Mob Experience goes, I'm not sure where it fits best.
>Maybe as an alternative to the Limo Tour?

We already have two very strong medium-size options for
Thursday, those being the Limo Tour and The Fab. These two,
when combined, will definitely impact, but cannot exhaust
the pool of potential participants for something like this
on Thursday.

However, assuming you want an evening thing for this, we have
two evenings which are very much in need for things to fill
them.

Tuesday evening after dinner is our big weak spot. Wednesday
evening is still quite sparce.

I would suggest Tuesday for this if you want the stronger
turnout, or Wednesday evening if you're looking at a smaller
type of thing.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Golf:

Danielle writes (quoted):

>Re golf, I think we should say that the arrival time is 8 am.
>Our first tee time will actually be at 9 am, but I don't think
>we should publish that. and this will give everyone a chance to
>be late, hit balls, go over rules.

>Thanks for the info on PayPal. I have an account, and I'll try
>to work all that out.

>And, by the way, also worth mentioning is that they rent clubs.
>People should probably call the course in advance. There's an
>additional fee, which I think everyone renting would expect to
>pay.

This is something we can put on the sign-up screen, including
the number to phone to rent clubs, etc. When we QA the sign-up
screens, please be sure all of the verbiage is to your liking.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Shiloh Horse Ranch:

Rosada writes (quoted):

>Here is the response from Jill Curtis of the Shiloh Horse
>Rescue Farm. Can you see which of those days will work for
>us and I'll lead the caravan out there?

I would suggest Tuesday simply because it's the most clear
of the three days during the morning, at least the way the
schedule sits now.

I'm going to pencil this in on Tuesday, with an assembly
time of 9:00am to hold the timeslot. If you want the day or
assembly time changed, please say so.

The only issue I see might be a possibly time crunch for
those who also want to do the Neon Boneyard, such as me, but
if we watch things it shouldn't be a big deal.

Wednesday has golf and Thursday has the Mount Charleston
trip. Neither has the capacity to exhaust the supply of
potential participants for your trip, but we do want to
balance things as much as we can.

Please be thinking of the amount we should put down as the
"Suggested Donation" for this activity.

Also, please be thinking of an appropriate carpool/assembly
location for this.

>Also, is anyone familiar with the Gold Strike Casino?

Yes. Been there, done that. It's a dump, and it take a lot
for me to call a LV area hotel a dump. It makes the IP seem
like the Waldorf by comparison. Did the buffet once, and it
was like totally 144 to the max, fer-shure, ya know. :) They
tell me that the coffee shop is better, but I haven't had the
desire to find out, LOL! :) The Nevada Landing, which used to
be across the highway, was much better, but the last time I
was down there it was a vacant tract.

Now, not too far away down the highway is Primm, with several
eateries plus a food court in the mall. I might suggest that
if you want to have a lunch on the trip.

>I would like to call it the event the The DLV "Some Like It
>Hot" Day at Shiloh in honor of Tony Curtis.

Ok, we'll put it on the schedule under a title like that. :)
. . . . . . . . . . .

+Hi Rosada-

+I am sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

+Either that Tues=2C Weds or Thursday (April 5-7) will work
+for us to have you all out to Shiloh. It would have to be
+mid-morning=2C like around 10am. I am at the rescue from
+8am until 1pm daily.

+The only place to eat is in Jean at the Gold Strike Casino
+back out by I-15. It's about 25 minutes from the rescue.

+Just let me know what day works best for your schedule.

+Thank you and have a great weekend=2C

Firefly:

Kumiko writes:

> Firefly is'nt involved in the construction and is closed off
> to the area of construction, it was remodeled less than 2 years

Hi Marisa,

Thank you for the work you are doing with the Firefly Mgmnt

Just to let you know on their website:

http://www.fireflylv.com/

It shows that the downtown plaza location is now temporarily closed. It
also showed a Westside that has opened at 9560W Sahara Ave. So I'm with
the understanding that Firefly at the Plaza will be open by the time we
are in town?

This is stated:

"Our Downtown location will be TEMPORARILY CLOSED while the Plaza Hotel
& Casino undergoes renovation. We will be back just as soon as the
rennovations are complete!"

You had written that the Paradise location is too small. Maybe that
Westside location may be big enough.

Just letting you know... :-)
. . . . . . . . . .

We have it noted on the final schedule to ignore any "Closed
for construction" and similar signs. We'll be including a note
in the Large Final Mailing to this effect as well.
