Org List:

This is the DLV 2010 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.

Early mailing:

This mailing is going out earlier than I had planned due
to the fact that there's a lot going on.

No laundry list. Things appear to be stable. Thanks to all
for clearing up hanging items.

We do have a few decisions to make, however. Nothing life
or death. :)
. . . . .

Marisa's keen eyes noticed an error on two individuals'
activity sign-ups. This was most definitely a systems
issue, and as of this time I'm at a loss to determine
exactly why it happened without raising any very obvious
warnings in the logs.

I'll be contacting the two individuals involved and asking
them to please confirm their activity sign-ups.

If anything on your sign-up lists does not look "sane",
please write in. I've looked for similar errors, both
on the reports and behind the scenes and don't see any
others. It appears to be an isolated incident.

We thank Marisa for the report on this!
. . . . .

Numbers are about the same as they were on the last report.
The trickle of new registrations was mostly offset this
time by a few voluntary cancellations.

Jam Session, Irish, Bahama:

Susan R. Writes:

>Hi all.

I'll dispense with the worn-out IRC joke just this once. :)

>The Jam Session has been moved at managements request to
>the Escape Lounge. Same time 8:00 Tuesday. They have started
>up poker tournaments on Tuesdays at Goodtimes and it seemed
>like conficting atmospheres. I agree.

>It's also a smaller venue and with 16 signed up, it will
>work better.

Got it.

>How can I find out if any other musicians are signed up. As
>of now we have 2 guitar player singers and 1 singer?

The only nonblank "Instrument" field so far on the sign-up
list is:

+response.1176748301-3926.1269326555:instrument=guitar

This one looks like you! :)

>Edgar assures me that they can handle as many people as we
>can bring in on Thursday for the Pity Party. At 60 I see
>no problem and no reason to limit it if we get a late sign
>up or just show ups.

That sounds fine. I'm sure they will appreciate the business.

I'm sure the Escape will handle our crowd easily.

If you happen to speak to Edgar or staff, please give them
a heads-up that we'll be having a group of our people there
on Sunday. No special arrangements need to be made. We will
just be drinking and socializing.

I suspect that this "Alternative" one will be the smallest
of the three common gatherings, but we won't know how many
will show until they do.
. . . . .

>As for Mcmullan's Irish Pub on Sunday, the room that I
>reserved for us seats about 30. We could squeeze in a few
>more. There are also other tables in the Pub. At 41 we
>should be OK. But I wouldn't want to see it go much higher.

I think your actual turn-out will be closer to the 33 number
for this, although some may be coming for the after-dinner
thing and not doing dinner. We'll adjust things on the final
roster to show all as confirmed. I think you will be safe
and have a good showing.

>Bob will be helping me with meeting and greeting as he did
>last year. Could we make him an official co-coordinator?

Done.

>On the printed schedule the number for Mcmullan's is wrong.
>It's 702-247-7000.

Updated.

I don't know where the other number came from, probably from
the original submission to the Big List.

>I'm concerned about the Bahama Breeze. The waiting list is
>quite large. It's my understanding that we have the same
>room as last year and Alanna will not be attending. What
>is the capacity of that room?

(Hmmmm ... I *DO* show Alanna as being signed up for BB.)

If we have the "Gazebo Room" I'm sure it can easily handle
well over 100. We had about 85 in there last year and there
was plenty of room left over.

If we have the room to the right of the entrance, we're
still probably ok. We had 93 in there in 2008 and although
it was a bit "cozy" and we did spill out into the bar area,
it worked.

As of Thursday morning we have an estimated turnout of 92.1
for the BB. Toward the end of the week the real-world show
up count tends to drift toward the lower number, so I'm
sure we will be fine, whichever room they put us in.

>How do we deal with such a large waiting list?

We've typically used one of two approaches, and it will be
your call (and Alanna's) as to how you do it.

First is to basically ignore the confirmed/waiting lists
and let the crowd size and arrival time determine who gets
the seats. This is how we've done it almost all of the time
over the past few years. IMAO, those who arrive after the
posted start time have forfeited any "rights" to claim a
seat should there be a shortage of them.

Second is to try to police the waiting list, noting to
those who arrive who are on the waiting list that they
are to wait until the posted dinner start time before
they are to claim a seat.

We did this once at Sashas/Tramps/Suede (whatever it was
called that week) and it kind of worked. The only issue
was that some who were already seated and confirmed would
invite friends on the waiting list to "jump line" and
join them. We had some eating at the bar that evening and
one group wandered next door to Milano's to eat.

>I look forward to partying with all of you. See you soon.

Yes! I'm looking forward to it too! :)

The Breast Form Store:

Cathy writes:

>Annie, If you will read the email below, Nancy, of the
>Breast Form Store, has been very generous in making
>available a number of items to be given away at DIVA Las
>Vegas.

Wow, that's an unexpected surprise! Thanks, Cathy, and please
relay our thanks to Nancy, Oren, and all involved. :)

>Her associate, Oren, is going to drop them off at the Paris
>hotel by the 14th in my guy name, Craig Bean. Since I am not
>arriving until later I will clear it at the Paris to have
>someone from Diva pick them up so you will have them to
>give away from the start of the week.

Do we have anyone local, or anyone who will be in town on
the 14th. or shortly after who could go pick these up, or
designate an alternate more convenient drop-off location?

>If you would like to contact Nancy and have her associate
>drop them off somewhere else or in your name, so you can
>pick them up without any hassle, please feel free to contact
>her and do so.

Do we have a volunteer to help out here?

If so, please reply, and we'll coordinate with Cathy, Nancy,
Oren, and any others who need to be involved.

>I really think we need to thank the BF Store for their
>generosity to the DIVA Las Vegas event and make sure
>everyone at DIVA knows how big a friend the BF Store
>has always been to our community.

Most definitely. We'll get a note in the next general
mailing and in the LFM.

Now, what to do with the loot? :)

It appears that the obvious answer is to do some kind of a
drawing at the Welcome Celebration, right at the peak of
the crowd, perhaps right after the group photo. This was
suggested by the BFS staff (below).

Marisa, is this OK with you?

I know that Harmony Nail Spa plans some kind of a give-away
at the BB, so I think it's more appropriate to do the BFS
give-away at the WC, so they don't steal each other's thunder
so to speak.

If there are no objections, I'm going to announce the
drawing at the WC in the next general mailing. Say "STOP"
now if there are any objections.

>Thanks again Nancy for your generosity.

Agreed. :)

I don't see a Kimberly on the sign-up list, but I'll post a

final schedule.

Thanks for the updates, Rosada. :)

Please, everyone, remember that e-mail is not an error-free
medium. If your e-mail appears to vanish in a black hole,
be sure to resend or inquire.

Thanks, Mindy.

I want to send this out far and wide.

I forwarded it to the Discussion Forum, and I plan to include
it in the general mailing this weekend.

Please send in an update if others pay either before this
weekend or before the LFM goes out next Wednesday.

This is much too much for even the longer detailed schedule.

However, I think that the Welcome Celebration is one of the
most important activities there is, and that this warrants
a separate announcement in the LFM. I will get this included.

Hi Annie,

Kumiko writes:

>One small input...for the emails and LFM ... and for Amy
>who is coordinating this years pin.

Thanks, Kumiko.

We'll get this in the final general mailing and in the LFM.

+DLV 2010 event pins will be available this year only
+at Just You / Home of Glamour Boutique during DLV
+and after. A central location that you can get to
+during normal business hours instead of looking for
+a certain individual.

+So when you attend the Open House, getting a make over,
+just visiting, attend a DLV event at the store, or need to
+purchase needed items, don't forget to buy a DLV 2010
+event pin!

+Contact the store for information on the price of the pin.

+This is a great 'take-home' yearly memoir of DLV,
+and in limited quantity. Each year's pin has the year,
+and a different color. So get one while they are still
+available. Many veteran DLV attendees have a collection
+from the very beginning and will get one to continue their
+collection. Once they are gone, that is it!

+Some past year's pins are still available, if you want one
+before they are gone for good, go down to or inquire
+with the store for information on availability and price.
